Recently after a long absence from the scene I decided to check it out. Back to Soi Cowboy I went. Not much change in the atmosphere since one year had passed. First stop Lone Gun. Great music and cheap drinks but that's where the buck stops. Baccara has not changed a bit but the pricing of the ladies seems to have gone up a little. Still a good place to meet a little spinner for a short time romp but nit recommended for long time. Most of the girls are not wanting a LT anymore since with two or three ST encounters they are happy with that being a good nights work. I went the rounds of the various bars and the big change is the edition of the coyote dancers. Soi Cowboy has now begin to cater to this market like Singapore, Malaysia, and the Bangkomgentlemens clubs like the Pimp. There has been a lot of speculation on the board about the coyote dancers. Can they be bar fined? The answer is yes. Why is the bar fine between 2000THB-4000THB? Because with the label of coyote this gives the mind set of a higher bar fine which gets you a more attractive girl. Do you have to pay more to the girl for your encounter? Typically these coyotes only want to go short time. They will hit you up for 4000ST. Are they getting it? Yes, I have seen many Japanese and Chinese punters bar fining these girls. After 1AM the coyote girls will reduce the bar fine to about half. So if the bar fine was 4000THB before 1 it will be 2000THB after 1. Typically they do not want to go long term but will and the asking was 5000-6000THb after 1. Maybe 4000THB if lucky. The bars on Soi Cowboy seem to be moving towards selling lady drinks as their number one source of revenu with bar fines as a second. Some of these bars are fully packed with customers while others are dead. Baccara seems to be the only go go in soi cowboy with absolutely no coyotes. Where others will have a mix of normal go go girls and coyotes. So before you sit and chat with your favourite go go girl it would be wise to ask her which category she falls into. If she says coyote, be prepared to buy a slew of lady drinks and just maybe you can end up bar finding her for an outrageous amount of money. I tried it once and the experience was great but for the money you can get the same with a non coyote go go dancer. In my opinion it is not worth the risk and I would recommend sticking to Baccara or Nana plaza. There is maybe only one bar in Nana which has started this trend of coyote dancers which I read about on this board a few days ago. This trend in the go go's in BKK seems to be catching on fast. So we better enjoy the normal go go's while they last.

Just a quick note to the board about what sites are good for hook ups. There are four main sites to choose from. Date in Asia, Tagged (High 5) , Thai Friendly, and Badoo. They all offer free membership options where you can exchange messages with the ladies. Badoo and Thai Friendly offer upgrades to enhance your experience. I personally upgraded with Thai friendly but personally did not find the value any greater. Badoo is the hands down winner for me. There are way more girls on there than tagged, offering a free Instant messaging service with iPhone apps to match. Badoo has a good mix of working girls and normal Thai girls. I have found dates and one night hook up free and paid on this site. I love it so much because in the morning most if the working girls from here are happy with 1000THB as a tip. I have also dated seriously with some of the woman from this site. A good place to start before and after you arrive in Thailand.

Conversely I have just spoken with one lady who says she doesn't go back at Songkran because bus fares are higher and they are crowded. Instead she goes back before or after. I imagine others do the same. But there is never a shortage.

To get around this lots of bars (including all of the Pasha group) came up with an ingenious solution. The word 'bar-fine' got banned but if a customer wanted to take a girl, they bought her a bottle of 'Party Animal' (which of course cost the same as the old bar-fine). One on Soi 8, 20 meters from Sukhumvit. The other is on Soi 11 about 250 meters up the soi, close by the 7-11.

Just ask at the ticket counter. I actually like Phaya Thai more than Makkasan which indeed in the middle of nowhere with hardly a taxi in sight.
