If they friend me at all it pretty much means they're a prepago.

I usually post when I'm going to be in Medellin and / or when I arrive. The ones that that respond or start sending me messages are probably prepagos. If they are ones I'm interested in then I'll respond to them. I've only hit up one girl where she may have not been a prepago. My initial message is something like "I'm looking for a date and wondering if you are available" so it wasn't too awkward when she didn't respond with "si, amor" right away. My next message is usually "what will I owe you for your company?" and I negotiate from there. The response is almost always 150 K + Taxi or 200 K total. I always negotiate the price but not necessarily the exact details. (I may change that). I definitely don't want any drama when it comes time to pay.

So overall Medellin experience average / below. Both girls and service were not upto my expectations, and language is overall an issue.

A simple "que buscas aca" (what are you looking for) should do it. Most prepagadas will tell you.

Hi there, I'll be coming to Colombia for the first time in January for at least 3 weeks, plan to hit Bogota and Medellin at least. I speak pretty good Spanish and have mongered a lot in Europe, the DR and Argentina, however all I know about Colombia is what have read and seen online. I've read back many pages here, but still have to ask some annoying newbie questions.

I would like to rent a place (on Airbnb probably) in an area with regular Colombian shops / cafes, not too snobby and not rundown. Any recommendations? What about downtown? Someone near the majority of the casas if possible.

Are taxi's there cheap / safe? What about the metro? Is the RLD safe to walk around during the daytime? I'm a bit of a lone wolf, so if I don't find myself in a group of guys, is it unsafe to walk around there at night? Are the hotel rooms there safe / clean? Are there many Casas in that neighborhood too? Questions !! Questions!!

As for curvy girls, the high end ones tend to have young, slim girls (mostly). If you go to cheaper places, you'll see more variety. But regardless of your type, you will find them in Colombia!!

The taxis I rode in were all safe and they are not so expensive. Better to take a taxi than Uber or walk. Enjoy and be sure to post a report!!

Thinking about staying there next trip. Anyone with any experience? I usually stay at Energy living but they are booked up the wazoo at least my favorite units are.

You probably have to add a voice package to be able to send and receive text messages. Bring the phone to a mobile store or the reception of your hotel. They will help you.

The downtown area is loaded with Colombian shops and restaurants. Recently, I've been staying in Laureles. It is easy to travel between there and downtown for less than a dollar. Hotels and apartments in Laureles are clean and safe. The renter is the one who introduces non-safe conditions in almost all cases.

Taxis are very cheap and safe, but you don't need a taxi to visit the RLD and the casas in downtown. You can walk to most of them. There are many casas. Only walk during the daytime, never after dark. The areas in downtown you should avoid are where you don't see any locals walking. The Metro is cheap, fast, and safe. It's never happened to me, but I have heard of pickpocketers on the Metro. Other than going to and from the airport (or between places you are staying), never carry anything that, if you lost it, would cause a problem for you.

Most of the downtown casas will have some big chicas (the ones you call curvy).

I have met almost all the chicas I know on Facebook. You need to get a start, and then it will be like rabbits, they multiple fast.

There are various options for areas and types of places to stay. However, there is no best option. It depends on your preferences and and how much you want to spend.

Most of my time is spent downtown, so I don't want to be traveling back and forth when I can walk outside the door and already be there. Plus I'm really only in the room to sleep. I have only been to Poblado/Lleras 2 times.
