Thailand P4P issues hardly unique
Thailand's P4P decline is consistent with reports from other southeast asia locales for the most part, including Vietnam, Cambodia. Phillipines, and Burma among other areas.
On a worldwide basis obviously Kiev is in a war situation, so that's out but beyond that while individual reports can be positive, the P4P reports worldwide generally seem to be reporting (in macro P4P terms) markets in decline, the only exception I've noticed recently is "Cuba Dave" who has had some positive reports on San Jose, Costal Rica which he sees as improving, and note he basically recently had to abandon his core area Sosua (DR) beause the cruise industry (soon to be coming into nearby Puerto Plata) was to a large extent attempting to harass and limit the P4P industry in that venue
FYI Protests in BKK. Latest info I have for the guy who asked.
I asked a local:
"a friend was asking about protests. Anything around Sukhamvit?"
"Nothing at all mate. There was a rally at Lumpini park on Friday but nothing round this way."
Couple newbie questions about Bangkok
Should I carry my passport on me at all times?
Should I bring freelancers to my hotels, or is that generally an unsafe thing to do?
Also putting valuables in the hotel safe. Whats stopping the hotel employees from stealing or giving the stuff to someone else?
What type of cell phones do you guys use when you're there. I have a galaxy s3, thats not too flashy is it. I mean its common in the US.
Short Time is generally two hours. So how do I negotiate for 30min to 1hr. Or is that frowned upon?
