I have been to Old Mans a couple of times during the week. The pro's I have met almost always mention OM as a place where they go out as well. Should be a good hunting ground.

The place scares me a bit though. Lots of smoke, low ceilings and I have never seen an emergency exit. To quote inyourpocket.com: " We're also rather keen on breathing. Some nights this likeably ramshackle underground bar and dance hall is just too packed, and must surely be a fire hazard. We're talking more than a disco inferno here. And that's it, our one gripe about one of the most fun Budapest nightspots." My feeling exactly.

But this does not solve the issue of the discussion here the last few days: where to find non-pro's in the 30-40 range. I must have been to Budapest 20 times in the last 2 years, but I have not been able to find a place where there is a possibility for some initial "non-threatening" interaction such as dancing.

Maybe one of you has a good place to suggest.

I was in Jam Pub in Buda last night and I can't recommend that place either. I've been there a few times now and while there are always a few lookers, they are usually with their Hungarian boyfriends. And the only single girls are usually below average expat women from the UK, America, and Canada. I've never seen any pros either.

Like a lot of clubs in Budapest, there is a stupid-looking, bald, fat goon at the door who acts as sort of a bouncer- avoid him since he is trouble.

Can anyone please expand on what/where OM is??

went to BP this week. First off arrived Sunday PM and had to have dinner with a client so no action at all on Sunday. Monday had bisines in south of country and did not get back to BP until 9 PM, on way back decided to have a look at the street action mentioned below. i spent a few days in budapest last month and walked about about 50 km over the few open evenings. i asked the doorman and a couple cabbies about szabadskai ut and none could give me any indication of where it was. they definitely tried to help and we looked at a number of szabad... named streets. i even bought a good map but there were several szabadskai ut listed and all seemed in odd areas on the outskirts of the city and i had no car. for future reference can some mongers out there provide landmarks (hotels, metro stops, etc.) to guide visitors like myself?
