Kunming is in Yunnan, where there is tons of touristy stuff. We are taking the train to Dali for a couple of days, but Lijiang and Shangrila are worth checking out.

I've been to Thailand a few times before they had visa free arrivals for Indian citizens. I do recognize that there may be a change in how Indians are viewed. I'm from the US myself (Indian heritage), but I don't trust that the average thai understands that distinction. The primary aim of the trip is scuba, but would like to have fun while on land. How bad is the situation for brown guys? Should I scrap completely and head on over to Indonesia? The mongering scene there isn't as great as Thailand, but have had some success there before (scuba is brilliant, though).
