ha ha! usa needs to learn to mind its own business, only helping peoples of other countries that desperately want and deserve help. i don't think that exists in pattaya.
girls trafficking themselves all the way from isaan to pattaya, perhaps being "trafficked" by a thai "boyfriend"/ exploiter. lol. girls have the right to support whoever they like, even if it is stupidity. certainly plenty of **** girls exist. they want the right to work too and to not be discriminated against based on age. plenty of 16 year old single mothers need to make a living and support their child, maybe their parents etc. i am not interested to buy, but i feel sympathy for their plight.
its hardly the same thing as the real [CodeWord908] in other countries where girls are transported to another country and are not free to decide their own fate, imho.
the first thing needed to reduce the prevalence girls forced to work against their will, is to legalise prostitution and introduce better controls, and have police protect girls from unwanted boyfriends or pimps, instead of turning a blind eye.
what percentage of thai hookers, are not making their own decision to do this? i don't know. however i am not meeting a lot of girls that are clearly forced to do it, other than because they decide they need the money.
there are reasons to expel illegal immigrant workers. of course naturally people from cambodia, laos, and myanmar want to work here, as the situation in their own country is much less desirable.
the definition of [CodeWord908] has gotten broader and broader. it does not have to be cross-border. if you go by this official definition it covers a lot of ground depending on your interpretation. i understand that a similar crackdown is going on in angeles city.
"article 3, paragraph (a) of the protocol to prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in persons defines trafficking in persons as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs".
exploitation covers a lot of stuff. i would agree that nearly every girl in the go-gos and beer bars and freelancers are doing it of their own free will (as best as we can tell; mothers and boyfriends aside) but it could also be argued that girls who are brought into bars for the purpose of prostitution and enrichment of their employees is exploitation. i have seen nothing about crackdowns going on in the thai brothels which is most definitely [CodeWord908] as many of them are shipped in from outside thailand. so i think this is being done mainly for foreign eyes.
