Transport from Santos Dumont. Anyone take the VLT streetcar to the nearest metro? I am thinking about taking the train to the Carioca metro, and then down to Copacabana. The metro in Copa is kind of far from the beach, but taxis at Santos Dumont charge an arm snd a leg to go to Copa.

I think it is the easiest and relatively inexpensive option at around 30 reals. You can take Uber from the mall adjacent (after getting out of luggage turn left and walk all the way to the end of the terminal building. Make sure to stay inside the terminal building until you reach the mall) to airport thermal.

It's really uncomfortable for 20 women to stand 6 feet from you and just stare. The hassle is getting whatever card works on the VLT and then getting a metro card.

Another alternative would be the VLT to the Metro, but taking a taxi from the Metro station to Copacabana. That should be cheaper than a taxi from the airport.
