A few years ago one of the fishermen from Charamicos took me out with him in his 18 foot open boat. I'd been out with him a few times before, and we'd never caught anything. So I used to joke with him about that. He had no real fishing gear just a long line wrapped around some wheel with a big hook on the end, we'd troll it around the bay for an hour or so.
Coming back in the surf was high and we had difficulty finding a safe spot to beach. After a while he made a run but a breaker caught us and we overturned. I wasn't in the best shape at that time and of course we had no life jackets. I felt these hands grab me and start pulling me to shore. He dumped me on the beach.
Meanwhile he had ignored the most precious thing he owned, his entire living, the boat and his precious motor which were barely floating upside down off shore, just to make sure I was OK.
The locals came running down to the beach to help get the boat upright. They got the water out, and left him to deal with the motor. I watched from a family beach picnic his off shore attempts to get the motor started in the hot sun.
A couple of hours of pulling the outboard starter cord in the blazing hot sun. He was a big man. He just would give up!
Finally, almost impossibly, we heard the waterlogged motor come to life, and the whole party yelled and cheered and raised our beer to him.
After experiences like these, I get a mite antsy when some a-hole stereotypes and tars Dominicans as thieves, smelly skanks and hustlers.

Arrived in Sosua 3 days ago. Arrived via bus from Santo Domingo (see my post on making that journey in the SD section). Staying at a German run hotel I found on [URL]booking.com[/URL] for 17.50/ night. Place is just fine (villa florie) & just a couple of minutes walk from the action; girl friendly naturally.
Got some beers & food and kicked back for the evening / night watching the constant parade of chicas. The police 'sweep's are a hoot. Sending girls running for the hills. Is this just a facade as they can 'catch' them if they really want.
I got pitched by one shorty. Asking 2500. Agreed on 1500. 100 dop moto back to the room. Did the deed and at the end, she tried to make out that we agreed on 2500. Wasn't having it.
Went back to the strip. Chica watched my way through the rest of the night. As the strip wound down, I lingered about. Was just about to call it quits when one chica offered TLN for 1500. She was eager to please and a sweet little thing. We slept on into mid morning and I gave her 2000.
That next day we agreed she would stay on and we went to the beach to chill out for the day. I don't normally do the sun lounger thing but it was an enjoyable change of pace. Went back to the hotel for a session and later that night we took a shared car to Cabarete (50 dop each.

You are handling the scene like a pro. 3 k pessos for all day girlfriend is excellent even with buying food. I enjoy haing date when I dine. TLN is in Sosua is 3500 peso so even paying for her meals you got a bargain. The girls living condiions are often crowded and poor. Spending time in a nice hotel eating better food is a huge upgrade. When i connect with a chica I have no problem keeping her a few days. Sex usually is much better. I am enjoying your reports. How you found a 17 dollar rooms needs to be clarified. Hell of a deal.
