Have a somewhat detail map of cebu listing most streets uptown and downtown but can't seem to locate Hana Val gate 3 (J.panis and Vico Rd) near Cempark cemetery.

Can anyone tell me if this place is uptown or downtown and about how far and in what direction from a know landmark so I'd have a better clue if I need to locate this place on my own.

It's located in Banilad a stones throw from the Country Mall.

I think you are going to the right country if you like music. It is a fair statement to say the Filipinos are the most musically talented people in Asia and probably in the top 5 in the world. In every Asian country i have visited most of them will import Filipino talent to sing/play in the high end establishments.

That is the good news, the bad news is I dont think Jazz is a Filipino sound. I do not have near as much knowledge or experience with music as someone like you, but i have been to a lot of clubs in different parts of the Phils and i have never heard of something even resembling jazz. The most common are "sugary-sweet" love songs which makes up about 90% of all the music played in the country. The other 10% is top 40 stuff dating back the last 30 or 40 yrs. I think the top 40 stuff is strictly played to bring in the foreigners.

You will have a great time because there are hard core music lovers everywhere you go but my guess is you are out of luck with the jazz part.

sorry Mattrick, Still looking but can't find banilad on my cebu city maps.
Never heard of banilad as I've not been to cebu yet but plan to arrive by years end. Is Banilad out of Cebu city limits or is it a small neighborhood within Cebu itself? My maps generally show only street names and some tourist spots, ex. churches, forts etc.

Just tell the taxi driver to take you there ,you don't need to know the exact location ,taxi is cheap here unless you are planning to walk there on your own to save a few peso.

If you have the 'EZ Map' of Cebu, it is located in grids M1 and N1. Banilad is to the north and within the Cebu city limits. Cempark cemetery is actually in Mandaue. Another landmark would be 'Badgers' bar and Banilad Town Center. Hope this helps!

In Cebu City, I don't remember the directions, but ALL the taxi drivers know it.
