You cannot go wrong if the taxi uses the meter (ALWAYS insist to use the meter!

There is a free shuttle bus between the two airports ([URL]http://suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/122-transfer-bus-between-suvarnabhumi-don-muaeng[/URL]) but it does not run between midnight and 5 AM.

If you have the ticket for the DMK flight, there is also a free shuttle between the 2 airports.

You will probably spend the difference waiting for the flight and in baggage charges. Air Asia etc from DMK charge you extra for everything. In the end, the saving might not be worth it.

Google Bangkok airport sleep rooms and results come up. If nothing else I would suggest killing time in BKK. DMK is old and a lot smaller. You will find more options to kill time at BKK. Or you can always take the airport train into town and hit some of the late night bars and clubs and take taxi from there. Also just a note, even though this is a Bangkok forum, if you can find another couple on the plane headed to same area on phuket a private suv negotiated at airport was much nicer than a cab and more comfortable for not much more with a 2 way split.

And on one of the upper floors was a health spa operation where they would make a line up and selection. Good way to start a Thailand trip. It may of course have long since gone.

Need some input, I'm landing in BKK in 2 weeks and heading to Pattaya for 4 nights and then BKK for 6 to do some shopping.

Some of my friends have suggested to make it 6 in Pattaya and 4 in BKK as there is not much action in BKK, after RTFF (a lot) I think there is action in BKK as well.

What do you guys think?

Only my opinion as it will vary with each person. I prefer BKK and the big city over Pattaya. Much more options and a bigger pool to pick from. If it is your first.

Visit I would suggest 3 days in Pattaya and the rest in BKK. But this again is only my opinion. Be sure to read back many pages to get an idea of where to go and.

What is on offer. I also suggest you look up maps of each place on google. Understand the geography. Hope this helps.

[/QUOTE]There are as many opinions on the never ending BKK vs Pattaya debate as there are punters, but anyone who suggests there is not much action in BKK doesn't know what they are taking about. Pattaya is mostly about Go Go's, FL's, and small bars. The town has a crazy relaxed resort feel. BKK is about Go Go's, massage parlors, FL's and night clubs. The city has a distinct modern Thai cosmopolitan cultural feel. There is no telling which destination will be more to you liking before you go and experience them both so your original plan is pretty good. The important thing is no matter how you slice it, 4/6, 6/4, or 5/5; you are going to have a great time. So don't waste your time on over thinking your schedule. I suggest you spend your time in a more productive way by carefully reading the forums going back a year or so. Take notes and write down the establishments that consistently receive high marks from respected ISG'ers. In the Pat forum you will read a lot about Sensations, Baccara, Airport, & Happy Go Go's on Walking Street; LK Metro; Beach Road; & the many small bars on Soi Six. In the BKK forums you will read a lot about Baccara, Crazy House, Suzi Wong Go Go's on Cowboy; Rainbow 4 Go Go in Nana; Nataree, Amsterdam, Lord, & La Belle Soapies; Mango, Cherry, Snow White, EZ, & Bamboo oilies; & Climax on Soi 11. Ignore the extreme negative posts.

I favor BKK over Pattaya because I prefer the big city over the resort town. But that is just my opinion. Actually I dig both places a lot. They seem to compliment each other. So do your homework, then go there, and decide which place you like best. They are both amazing.

May be a better place to start on what's available in BKK would be the Links to Reports of Distinction section, if trawling through the back pages is too much of an effort, it will give you a fair idea that BKK has so much to offer in terms of better and assured quality and service albeit at a higher price than Pattaya. The advantage with Pattaya is that it is more of a holiday destination and unlike the big city puts you in a zen mode to monger. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks[/QUOTE]Why decide now? Different people have different likes. Why not land BKK, have a look a couple of days, then go to Pattaya. Then depending if you like Pattaya, stay long, or if not, come back to Bangkok in a hurry.

In Thailand, plans should never be set in concrete. Keep your options open. Learn to reduce planning and see what happens. I was going to go up country with an ex-GF on Saturday or Sunday, but things have changed. Lucky I did not try to book well ahead.

I haven't been to Pattaya for about 20 years! Others tell me its very cheap, but girls tend to be of lower quality than what can be found in Bangkok.
