I think you missed the point of the conversation it isn't a movement! Yes, I would complain somewhat about paying too little! If I know the going rate and she ask for less, am I a handsome man? am I a fish she wants to hook for the future? is she sick or something? and can't get the going rate so she markets herself lower I would be vary? It's not like a sale at Carrefour! The conversation isn't the benefit of a guy that's paying more... the conversation is a guy overpaying for exactly the same thing that the guy just paid in front of him. I wouldn't go as far as putting a bet down on that girls will go home because as you stated the " free market " will produce another set of Freelancers.

Was being more than a bit sarcastic in calling it a movement, actually, and also the paying less or the girls going home and especially the part about how any one guy could possibly ruin it all for everyone. The whole post meant partly tongue in cheek -- but the main point I stick by. I'll pay what I want. You pay what you want. I'm not going to express my irritation at how much allowance you give your kids, or the amount you spend on each Christmas gift compared to me. What I pay is between me and the person I'm paying it to. It's nobody else's business. It's a bit off-putting to see how popular it is in places like this (by some) to try to legislate other people's lives as if they have some right to do that. There isn't a problem with your opinion as long as you are being consistent and silent!when someone else is spending too much on something that you exactly have already! Exactly. But for whatever reason this is an emotionally charged, and highly irrational, thing for those who do not have the capacity to "overpay".

Reality is, as clearly pointed out here over and over and over again, it does the market a FAVOR when some people overpay, and those without the means should be THANKING people who do it.

And these things notwithstanding, personally, I pretty much pay market rates...maybe a bit more, and tip a bit, but relatively speaking pretty much the same as most others. I've said this several times, but it's completely ignored...because it's a matter of principle, not reality, to some here.

And again, it's not about rationality. This is a religion, and therefore logic, facts, etc. are all unnecessary for those who simply WANT to have a beef with people who, by either luck or intelligence and hard work, have more money and have the means to pay whatever we want. And yeah, you bet, if I could get better service or better girls, I'll pay more. And if it eliminates competition, I'll pay more. But that's not WHY I do it, and it most certainly is NOT "ruining the market".

I'm ranting...apologies. Hope this is interesting and/or useful to someone here.

It's a topic that is going on in many threads... I haven't been to Pattaya in a long time and I was considering to run over next week so I came to this thread to see what's going on.

All I can see are pages of the same shit that is happening on other threads... bitching about prices and tipping and such.

Absolutely! The market is way messed up especially in places like BKK. Guys are dumping way too much cash on girls. They are treating them as if they were girlfriends are some kind of special person. Let's not forget that they are *****s!

Anyhow, there is nothing we can do to stop the upward momentum of prices that these girls are charging. Men will continue to overpay and treat these girls like they are something special, when indeed they are not.

These are great points you made and I agree but this is just another topic like the tips issue that will never be resolved here. After all the discussions, no one is likely to see the issue any differently but hopefully the myth often times parroted here that over paying ruins the market for all of us will be put to bed.

!!! It's fairly obvious to say, given my posts on this subject, that I couldn't agree more with you. And I like the way you said it.

As I've said, it's a pointless debate. People with little money are generally going to berate people with money, and their religion (and platform for doing it) is the voodoo-economics of "spoiling the market", which again is ironic and totally illogical because if it worked they are actually providing incentive to do it. Unless you are an expert in Helegian dialectics you cannot rationally argue against this, and therefore any posts about overpaying spoiling the market are really just idiotic.

Frankly, the only real reason to post about this here is that the topic is kind of a screening mechanism, i.e. we can easily see who is like-minded (being intentionally euphemistic with my word choice). And that's why I follow this thread -- I'm happy to meet a few new people this way.

I think you made a few good points:
a) seems the fact somebody pays 1500 and not 1000 is a miney burner
b) seems the price has to stay at 1000 is a "religion" and a principle
c) seems a lot of people forgets that we are talking about a few bucks difference!
The same difference, maybe, they pay for a Coke from a vending machine and the same Coke drank at a cocktail bar or at a restaurant.
It is still the same f*** dring, taste, brand, quantity.
But somewhere it costs 2$, somewhere else it can cost 5$.
Why? you pay the environment, you pay the service.
I am amused to people claiming a drink costing, e.g., 80baht, when at the supermarket it costs 25 Baht.
Go at the supermarket, buy your drink at 25B, open it up after you paid for it, then start drinking it, try to see whether the cashier does a pole dance, hope they dim the lights a bit as those white neon are too bright, wish they do not give much uniforms to the staff and that maybe they put some beds in the storage room for a ST with the girl serving you at the cheese counter. All for 24B, with no bar fine, of course, as it ain't a bar and the girls are there already, to serve the customers, so why pay the bar fine?

I think the point that the ones trying to stop people from "overpaying" is exactly opposite to this. They are saying that what you pay becomes everybody else's business indirectly because the girls are going to talk amongst each other and they are going to want other mongers to pay what Wendella paid if he is paying more than average. Case in point: one night my dad and I took girls from the disco. The girls were friends. The next morning when I told mine she could leave I "overpaid." I gave her 1500 baht and I really don't know why I did it. I guess it was like others are saying, because I could. But I admit to fucking up. So what is the first thing the girl did? All I can offer in this post is some advice for married guys who want to play in Pattaya despite having family with them: Stay at Pattaya Park Beach Resort a few days - on the beachfront and slightly secluded - no go-go bars or beer bars in the street, just restaurants and Massage Parlours - but plenty of action within 5 minutes to central Pattaya. Lots to do at the resort to keep family busy and happy for a few hours, while you head off for a few hours occasionally to have some mongering fun. My excuse tomorrow will probably be a long massage - and I will be telling the truth (but not the whole truth. :D)

I sorted out the room-change problem at the resort today, plus got a further discount as a result. I'm such a sweet-talker. ;)

The resort is inexpensive (rooms from 1200), and some middle-aged western guys have obviously found that it's a great place to bring their young new Thai GFs for some fun on the water-slides, the enormous pool, rotating tower-top restaurant, monorail, and amusement park games. Some real cuties there.

That's my hope as well - that the myth of "driving up prices" and "ruining the market" is exposed for the fraud that it is. No one is advocating throwing money at the girls, but what an individual punter pays has no influence on what another punter pays.

Yes, I can't understand the hostility that often comes to surface when prices for sexual services are mentioned.

Some visitors to Pattaya spend 300 baht a night on a hotel room, other spend 3,000 a night and a few, a very few, spend 30,000 a night (that's what the Presidential Suite at the Marriott costs and it is often occupied). Some will have a 50-baht bowl of noodles from a street stall for supper, some spend 500 baht for farang food in sit-down restaurant and others splurge on steak and lobster for 5,000 baht. Some punters outfit themselves with T-shirts and shorts for 500 baht from a sidewalk vendor, others will buy three or four brand-name shirts at Robinson for 5,000 baht and a handful will spend 50,000 for a bespoke suit from a Zegna-certified tailor. Nobody comments, nobody cares.

So why the hell is there so much concern about what a few guys spend on the girls?
