I wish I knew how to put quotes when I write something on this forum. Other forums have little quote buttons. I know how to put quotes around the entire text somebody has written, but I don’t know how to put them around just a few lines.

To answer your question, most girls will always ask a higher fee than the normal cost, of course to make a little more money. But, if you know the normal costs all you have to do is look at them and smile and ask, “Are you sure?” Or say, “Everybody else asks for this amount.” And they will usually go down.

Yes, Secrets is just off Walking Street but it's overpriced for what it is and where it is. Has very good marketing but it needs it with all the competition that exists on every corner.
More or less opposite still on Soi 14 is another hotel called the Grand that offers very reasonable rooms at under 1000 Baht per night. Ticked all the boxes for me last year. Quiet and functional A/C, well managed and good breakfast. Perhaps the decoration is a little tired but my room was clean and the bathroom perfectly adequate.
This year I'm planning to stay a little further out near Soi Diana. Still near all the action but away from maddening crowds. Walking Street got a little OTT for me after the novelty value wore off.

I have lived here four years and know 10 words. That is so sad! I am from American and so envious of Europeans that learn to speak four or five languages at an early age. It is so much easier for them to pick up the Thai language or at least enough to have a conversation. unless you visit during xmas, there is no point in booking a place for more than the first night. there are some nice places for b500-700 per night, just shop around soi dianna inn / soi bokhao.
fls are happy to get your b1000 and no bf; and beer bars b1000 + b200-300 bf. i've been with many talents for b1000. if the girl is a real talent i would stay with her for more than one night.
