Barranquilla Reports

First of all why anyone would goto Barranquilla is beyond me but anyhow here it goes!

Taxi ride from the Airport to my Hotel (apartment) cost 19,802 as you exit the Airport you will see a Taxi kiosk, you tell them where you want to go and they will print you out a slip with the price on it!

I played around with some of the taxi drivers, just to see what they would charge, anywhere from 30K to 50k to take me to north BAQ!

I stayed at Hacienda Santa Ines Suites Carrera 46 No. 84-202, highly recommend this place! The room my Chica picked out was like a Studio apartment, full kitchen with everything but an oven!

100% Chica friendly, and a great staff, I was cooking for my Chica, and every afternoon when we would come back the room and dirty dishes where clean, I think the price was $85,000 per night.

This place is in what appears to be a safe part of town, a five minute walk from a place called Beer World and a twenty walk from the mall!

Sorry but no pro action to report on I tried, but we all know what happened! Some good pick up spots are, Barranquilla Plaza 26th floor, I'm there with my girl and her friends, and I have 3 chicas checking me out!

The mall is a great place to pick up woman, no first hand experience but I can tell when I'm being sized up!

I have been to BAQ four times this year, and if not for my girl there is no way in hell I would visit that place, so my advise is this, if you have plans to go to BAQ, change them if you can and head to CTG.

In my opinion Cartagena is much cheaper, more pay for play, better beaches by far, and much more to do then just monger!

I am curious about your definition of "better". Cartagena beaches are among the worst I've seen where people actually swim. YUCK! Granted BAQ becahes aren't that great either, but worse than Cartagena?

I do agree with you that BAQ is lacking in charm, and that except for the TONS of hot nonpros there is not much reason to hang there (though I admit having spent minimal time there, and many Colombiano friends think it is chevere). But there are so many Barranquilleras on the internet seeking a gringo that it is a lucrative destination. There are free internet sites too, so you neededn't pay big money to run ads in newspapers IMHO.

Surfer in my opinion CTG has better beaches then BAQ, dude that place is for the most part an industial city! With few exceptions the beaches there suck for the most part from what I understand!

As far as the non pro action goes, it is all over the place in all of colombia, Surf I do admot I'm not the pro like you, (no disrepect here) but in the past year I have been to colombia 7 times and not once has my 43 year old ass has not been hit on!

Surfer, to me Colombia is not just about the women, it is the whole entire package! To me it is about first and foremost the culture, the people, the laid back atmosphere, the mystique, and hell yes the women!

LP has a point. You are a very opinionated guy. I live in Cartagena, and you regularly correct observations that I make. You stated that you had never been to Cucuta. Yet you know more about the saftey issues there than a friend of mine who was born and raised there. Lighten up a little. Believe it or not, you don't have all the answers either.

I doubt that I will ever have this country figured out. But I'm going to spend the rest of my life trying...with a huge smile and a worn out dick!

Sorry if I offended anybody, but I really think the beaches there are shit. Truth be told, Rodadero is 1000% better than any beach I've seen in either CTG or BAQ, and Tayrona 1000% better still. This is where I go, but I refrain from discussing those places for several reasons including the fact that it is peripheral to the topic at hand as these areas are not for mongering as action is sparse (I have always brought chicas from elsewhere).

LP: I haveva very vague recall of being accused of being a racist, that is SUCH the opposite of what I am, but if you recall it then I will say thanks for your support. No offense was intended to you at all. My suggestion is that you go see a nicer beach so you'll come to agree with my opinions on CTG beaches. PM your email and I ll give youi details.

Tom: There is some validity to your critique andf I certainly mean you no offense either. That being said, I am a THOROUGH researcher and follow news on Colombia quite diligently (not suggesting that is the equal of you living there, although many gringos living in Cartagena are SO isolatyed from Colombia (lAguito not really being Colom,bian at all IMHO).

RE the Cucuta-Buca highway, it sure seems like there are a disproportionate number of incidents in Santander del Norte, as well as the border issues with VZ. People differ on risk assesment of other areas too. For example, I met a taxi driver in Popayan who swears that San Agustin & Tierradentro are fine and that he took a blonde Dutch guy there last year without incident. But EVERYBODY else in Popayan I asked looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about going up there. If your friend was there RECENTLY and says it is fine I will accept that. Security 30 or 40 years ago is irrelevant of course, and safe for locals and safe for gringos are two different things entirely as extranjeros are presumed rich and thus much more attractive targets.

I agree that Laguito is not really Colombia. And I am far from being an expert on Colombia. Hell, I probably don't even know Cartagena that well. And my Spanish sucks.

The beaches here are shit. But they are my shit. If I wanted great beaches, I'd live in South Beach. I am just head-over-heels in love with Cartagena, Medellin and Colombia. I also rather enjoyed my time in Manizales, Pereira, and Armenia. I did not feel particularly at ease in Cali. Sooner or later I will visit more of the country.

Actually, I had to change my trip from thist past weekend from Rio de Janeiro to Lima at the last minute. But surprisingly, I got a chance to hook up with Screwed Up and another monger down in Lima, as we were all staying in the same hotel!!! Screwed Up is a great dude. Lima Busy, never got around to contacting you, but I did get your messsage. Thanks. I'll be back down in Lima before the year's out.

By the way, Latina Passion, not sure exactly when you're going to San Andres, but you might really want to check the weather as Hurricane Beta is set to pass right over the island today (Friday). You might want to check with the hotel before you go. I've never been to San Andres, but some close Colombian-American friends of mine have been a few times. There are a few casas around the island. Just grab a taxi driver and have him take you to a few. Mongering costs were about $15-20USD for a session.

Playas. CTG has the working chicas and a few receptive non-working chicas. The best beaches in CTG are on the isles. Even the beaches on Tierrabomba are nice. I really haven't been too impressed with the beaches of Laguito and Bocagrande to date. And the beach touts are insufferable. BAQ's playas are only functional, but nothing to plan a trip to, although I have for convenience sake. Santa Marta has the best beaches in the area. Much more subdued than CTG and with very few touts. However, you must bring your own chica during the week. On the weekends, you can get lucky with the vacationers and locals in SM.

Just my thoughts.

Well ... just back from a trip to Barranquilla.

Have to admit ... I had a GREAT time and I'll be heading back soon ... muy pronto.

I spend most of my time, at least in the past, in Medellin ... so I'll kind of compare the 2 cities ... from my perspective obviously.

As far as the beauty of the city ... the climate ... the metro ... or lack of metro in Barranquilla ... Medellin wins hands down ... hard to beat it really.

However ... I do have to say ... and emphatically ... the people of Barranquilla are absolutely ... the FREINDLIEST and HAPPIEST people I have met, in general, in Colombia ... the chicas and the guys you meet.

I visited a few of the pro-chica clubs / casas ... but it's the non-pro chicas that were fantastic in Barranquilla.

If you love the dark skin ... chica delgada (thin) type ... Barranquilla is loaded with them ... and friendly, friendly, friiendly.

The chica I posted some pictures of here and in the Photo section ... I met her while buying a Comcel cel phone card ... in one of the many Comcel stores about.
We hit it off great and she is the sweetest little morena a guy could want ... and loves to take care of "papi" .

I'll be heading back to see her muy pronto ... soon ... taking her to Santa Marta.

Anyway ... another post soon with my take on the pro scene ... before I met the novia.

Just found out that the representative from Atlantico (state/department in which BAQ is located) is Miss Colombia. She's from BAQ. Attaching 2 pics of her from El Tiempo, the local newspaper. The runner-up from Choco is a stunner as well.

So I am hesitating between Barranquilla or Santo Domingo....
