Has anyone have any luck with the girls hanging out near campus? As I was walking back from the lake one early evening 2 girls we're between classes outside in the steet park. They gave me a look but I wimped out and didn't stop to chat. I figure the easiest thing to do is to ask them to dinner &/or Heart of Darkness after class.

I posted some additional reports about places and ladies but seems some other mongers on other threads (LOS, China etc.) were complaining about all my writing not "in english", complain to Jackson ? and many of my reports were deleted. I have fun writing in my"pirate" style as its therapy and enjoyment for me but if I keep posting and others complain and Jackson delete, well, seems I'm not going to post much anymore. If I can't enjoy myself then so be it.

I do hope it's not the end of pirate's posting as I really enjoyed his reports and I truly believe he was one of the better posters on this forum. Seems like many don't agree but I happen to also enjoy his wacky writing style and humor. With such great knowledge I think they should all cut him some slack about his writing style not being in perfect english. He will be greatly missed.---IMO

MyIt does get a bit tiring to read. But who cares.

My only real problem is he never goes "Arrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!"

I seem to recall that Pirate claimed he could write English as well as any of us and that what we see is his 'writing style'. I would object to anyone's post being rejected because of an inability to write good English but can appreciate objections to atempts at writing in a 'funny'style.

It does seem that Pirate's presence on this forum is entirely in his own hands and it is his choice not to post here in plain English.

Well, it is English. It's not any language other than English. It's not the queen's English, but English it is. We're not deleting the posts of the Singapore guys or others whose English is pretty bad and sometimes almost indecipherable. It seems obvious that it's meant in good fun. I don't understand people who get uptight about it.

Hi Guys,

I am planning my first trip to Phnom Penh.

I really appriciate if you can advice me ona good hotel to stay in.

I am looking for hotel in good location, nice view is a plus.

It should be safe, clean, (a safe box in the room is good) and also internet access in the room (am I asking too much?

And most important - girl friendly. Also if the hotel has is own fish bowl place it will be very very nice, since it will always give me the default option if I am too tired to look around.

Really appriciate your help and I promise to send reports and photos as soon as I return.

BTW, can a visa be issued at the airport once I arrive?

My personal preference, at the moment, is The Flamingo Hotel which meets all your criteria except the fishbowl. I think only one hotel ticks that box and I have never stayed there so will leave it to someone else to offer input.

The Flamingo has WiFi access in all rooms but it seems to get weak the higher you go. Up to floor two (third actual level) still has good signal and good response.

The roof-top bar is an absolute sanctuary, with pleasant breezes, as the sun starts to sink and you need to have refreshing beer before starting out on the serious business.

Visa can still be obtained on arrival at the main airports and, if you're arriving at Phnom Penh, it is worthwhile trying to be at the front of the queue as the wait can otherwise be quite infuriating.

I also get these complaints from others from the China, and other Asian threads etc. Funny thing is almost none of the complainers had ever contributed any useful information to the Cambodian thread, so go figure. Many of the comments/complaints are also sent to me via PM. Sometimes I spend more time defending myself over my intentional "wacky pirated english style" that it's no longer fun anymore. Remember that when I was in-country I actually acted a bit like a pirate because it's my alter-ego. So, I have more fun writing in this style simply because the thoughts and feelings comes out exactly as I remembered them when I was a pirate.

And yes, I did say "Aarrg" when I was in Cambodia. The only thing I couldn't do was get a parrot to sit on my shoulders.

As all can see, I am quite literate and know the writing language well enough.
I have to be as I use to be an instructor and dealt with many reports during my lifetime.

If you haven't notice, I am NOT having a fun time writing in this common english you are all endeared to do since childhood. I prefer my own "fun" style, and yes, it's in English (as far as I know, I haven't typed in any Spanish or French or Thai words yet).

Like I said, if I can't have fun posting then why bother.

Here's the answer to your question: You may be having "fun" writing your reports in some sort of ancient abandoned dialect, but none of us are having any fun trying to read them.

Now here's my question to you:

Why would any of us, your intended audience, "bother" to read your reports if they're impossible to understand?

Anyway, I accept that you're going to write your reports anyway that you want, so from now on I will try to translate them so that everybody else can read them.

I enjoyed Pirate's posts. To me, the spirit seemed playful. I didn't find them particularly difficult to understand, and noticed he was one of the more informative posters. I don't think I'm the only person who enjoyed his posts, and wasn't happy to see how this worked out.

Jackson[/QUOTE]With all respect I hope Jackson changes his mind. If he feels he can understand them well enough to translate them, why underestimate other members? Why deprive at least some members a lot o fun? I fear that if the Pirate dialect is translated Pirate is out for good and his informatin will be greately missed.
