But my experience of coming to Thailand regularly (5-6 times per year for 10 years) is that the BKK 'tourist' scene is becoming more expensive and less fun, for all the reasons discussed regularly. Having said that, I have a long-time GF in BKK, so I don't get too sample the delights too often.

Conversely in Pattaya it is very much a buyers market at the moment. There are some delightful young girls that will throw themselves at you for almost no money. Last trip I met a girl and ended up staying with her more days than planned, because she was so good. And I probably overpaid her by paying 1500 baht per day, plus meals, trips, etc. , which is less than 30 for 24 hours company.

Some of the well know luxury hotels that usually operate at close to 100% during the high season were running about 30%. Things have improved since the end of the protests but have not recovered. This high season will be better, but not a banner year.

Lots of Chinese though. Mainly package tourists although some couples and families. The package folks are a pain in the ass. CNX is overrun with them. But the families and couples that can afford to stay in the better hotels have been well mannered in my experience.

Had much success in and around these areas and was wondering about whether all the little beers bars in the square are still operational or bleak on inventory? Stayed at Legacy Suites and thinking that closer to NEP would be better as I enjoyed On8 stay as well. Any updates on where to procure the following:

-Military cut barber? Tried Friends before but not a good skin fade.

-Good day Oilie to pull for pool party at hotel.

-Spa or out call for manscaping.

-Does Honey on Soi 22 offer out call?

-What happened to Sazanka salt massage place?

Over Ten years ago I came on this board and there were many standouts that gave great information as to what to do and where to go. The one standout to me was a teacher from Canada who I think lived here for over 20 years who reported about things he experienced in Thailand regarding Thai people. Many of his post were negative so negative that some board members had the influence to get him banned. The one thing that has always stuck in my mind he said to me was if one can stay away from being entrenched into Thai society he will do fine here? People come here for many reasons and a large % of visitors and expats would never experience the things he has and I never imagine I would overtake him in such a short time? I have been told by many people Thais and falangs my life experience here must be like 1%? Never heard shit like this?

Although, we have our personal differences I do have admiration for him after all these years living in Pattaya he is still able to enjoy the fruits of what Thailand has to offer especially in Pattaya. If anyone ever want to know how to live in Thailand and not be entrenched into the Thai culture and just enjoy their life in retirement they should contact him. But doing that is not easy in Pattaya, certainly not as easy as following the yellow brick road to see the wizard in OZ? When you are the King of Jomtien living in a Penthouse overlooking the the beach with a 180 degree view. We can all wish to be as lucky? The best you can hope is if you are down on W. S. And see a guy order that god awful drink John Daniels ask him if he is the King?

I have not lived in many places all I can tell everyone is what I have experienced in Thailand particularly in Pattaya as a Asian American born and raised in the States. While growing up I've experience lots of discrimination never in my imagination I thought I would experience the discrimination and prejudice I have experience here. It should be noted that I have met and been told by other Expat living up North that Pattaya is in no way a indication as to what Thailand is all about. I've been told I'm more Thai than some Thais and I've been told by some Thai women " I want you to be 100% Thai ".

The winners in this game seem to fall into two categories:

(1) Young superstuds who are bagging approximately the same quality girls that they would get in the US.

(2) Resident expats. I saw some older gentleman (probably from this board) with some STUNNING young Thai girlfriends. These were women that they had clearly spent time finding and cultivating. Also, I'm betting a lot of these gentlemen spoke Thai.

I didn't see many short time tourists doing very well in terms of quality either in Bangkok or Pattaya. The only 9's and 10's that gave me the time of day were ladyboys. Better still, check their ID card anyway. Not something you would want to get wrong.

Japanese girls? Why would you expect to find them in Thailand? Unless they are on holiday with the boyfriends / family. Loads of Thai girls try and make themselves look Japanese. Would that do for you?

I remember another thing by the Canadian Teacher that using the word " Backward " as to how Thais think was being kind to them. I was not born yesterday did lots of bad things back home and did some time for it but always was able to right myself. Living here has brought the worse out in me like everyone I came saying this is not my country and I'm not here to look for trouble but here trouble always seem to come my way even though I've tried to forget and forgive the past and move on. As they say "just when I was out they pull me back in?" I've had money stolen by people close to me, had my life threaten a number of times, been in a confrontation with a motorbike taxi driver, been chased down a Soi by a Thai driver while on my motorbike going near 100 KM / H, and a few years back sneak attacked by a Thai with a butcher knife while I had my back turn and cut me in the forehead and came within a quarter inch of ending my life? What I have found in many of these confrontation is once they find out I am falang they become enraged as if this was a war between Thailand and the USA? I don't know how often I've been told they are Mafia and act and talk as if they were experts in Muay Thai boxing? It's as if they have been watching too many soaps and fighting movies? I say to myself each time if they were Mafia how is it that they live in a tin can shack and how do they pay for the fighting lesson. But whenever my life and my family is threaten where I come from I do the research and I strike before they strike me. I tried to go straight and use the court system only to be told by my lawyers " you are wasting your time and money, with your family ties to the Hong Kong Triads basically do it the old fashion way so I have and what amaze me is the look on their face how can a foreigner do such a bad thing to them while it is okay For a Thai. There certainly is a double standard here more ways that just being charge double for something. I've even been kicked out of a Thai temple because I told the monk what I've done and what I plan for some others for revenge. I ask him before I left " why is it okay For a Thai to do and be forgiven but not me? ".

Now I've concluded this is my life here and how I have to do things and when it is time because sooner or later my luck and my nine lives are going to run out and have accepted my destiny and that is I will die a violent death here. I go to sleep each night and wake up hoping that I don't hate all Thais because I don't and don't want my son to think that I do? So far so good but what helps me to stay here in Pattaya and leave my problems behind is the girls. Like mentioned. Living here and not visiting you have time and that time allows you to find whatever you want at whatever price you are willing to pay regardless if the price is going up and up? There is food, not the best, but at everyone's budget. Posters say the girls are fat, ugly, etc. That is because when you set your mind on fining something you never can but when you have time they find you when you aren't looking. So much pussy that there is just not enough time or money?

I have coffee each morning with a bunch of Expats from all over the world, sure there are many problems in the USA I know I was burned by the system. I feel the same before I came to Thailand, I've learn how they think and how they do things it is worse than the USA And I've been humble by the experience and have come away with a greater appreciation of the USA Even though it is not perfect and it is because I'm not here for a holiday and see and have been entrenched into their culture and it is not pretty at all. I wish I didn't feel that way but I do. Recently I met a guy from Kurwit? Through one of his BF girls who I knew. He said he felt sorry for me being a American, without starting starting a verbal fight I was thinking? This fucking prick was here fucking women as a Muslim or what because America save his ass from Saddam? I be-t-h like many expats but I benefit from it all because if the Thais actually knew or wanted to fix the problems I would not be able to enjoy the exchange rates and live here.

Many talk about the changes. Higher standard of living. Less girls because of this. I do not agree as long as their education system is the way it is and turn out useless males the girls will continue to come and come they do because living here you see the girls come and go new meat constantly but none of you two week holiday people see it. You come want it now because you just don't have the time or patients and when you look you don't find it and disappointed saying Pattaya is going downhill etc. Etc. Fat and ugly like Pattaya has a patent of this and not Bangkok.

Being Asian and living here it is a curse with the girls. I meet them and they are all over LBM, wanting me to be their boyfriend or at my age papa? If I want I could have them line up out the door and with my weakness I take them in all shape and size as long as the sex is good. I no longer have the drive when I was young and that is good because I don't have the time to change my bedsheet each day. The world is changing even in Thailand and Pattaya and yes the prices are going up but as for Pattaya they are trying to make it a family destination but it will happen slowly but hopefully not in my lifetime. But for now it is still one of the best places to live for the money as long as you do not get entrenched?

I won't get into an argument with taxi drivers, bouncers or anybody else. I remain above the fray. I accept the fact that I am going to pay a farang tax wherever I go and I don't give a shit. I never forget the fact that I am a visitor no matter how long my stay is and I am not Thai. I am here for just one thing, the girls, with great food and a few beautiful island beaches thrown in as a bonus. I am not looking to make friends with the local Thai "Goodfellas" or anybody else. If you are actually worried about your safety, then I think it is a good time to move and give LOS a break for a while. Take a year off in Phnom Penh, Subic, or just travel around SE Asia, then come back to Thailand with a clean slate.
