Could the name possibly be La "Veinte" (La 20) since it is on cl20?
La Viente's address is Calle 20, #7a-34. Its on the south side also. The 2 bars are 1 block from each other.
I got the spelling wrong Matt. Yes its La Veinte and its on Calle 20. There's #1 and #2 across the street from each other. But #1 is much bigger and has more chicas. I'll be there in May if you're around; give you a tour.
Thank you, BayBoy. I am going to Medellin this March. I am thinking about going to Cali from Medellin for a few days. Should I fly or take a bus? I know that a flight would take only an hour, but a 9hr bus (buseta?) would be a lot cheaper. Any factors other than the price and time I should consider? BTW, I liked the H. krishna restaurant in Medellin you mentioned. In March, hopefully I will try another vegetarian restaurant and will post a report. Take care and thanks a lot.

But on my bus trips I always stopped at Pereira for a few days to go to the mineral hot springs, outside of town. Obviously flying is much faster. As far as Cali is concerned, stay on the north side. Its the more affluent side, plus thats where the action is concentrated. Its safe to walk around in, lots of bars, restaurants and casas.
There's a lot of cafeteria-style restaurants. They serve up huge meals (rice, beans, salad, potato, fried banana and the main course etc.) for like $5000 pesos.
And most of all go to Dr. Amor, its the premier spot in town.
I've decided to spend the first 10 days in Cali cause I've never been there, then on to Bogota or Med. 2 questions.
Can you recommend a cheap hotel close to the action. An is there a Santa Fe (BOG) like area in Cali?

However, they are not marked, you need to know the addresses from the Cali list. The best if Clinica De Amor, which is on the Ave 2N facing the river. I used to stay in Aparthotel del Rio, about 2 blocks away on the same street. Medium priced. Pool. Nice. You could stay there one night then look around for a cheaper hotel in the area. There are lots. I also stayed at Pelican Larry Hostel, nearer Ave Sexta. Several casas nearby. I had a private room, but dorm is much cheaper. Didn't have a problem bringing girls back to either place, although I didn't bring any obvious streetwalkers into either place.

Hi BayBoy and others, the below is from WIKI travel. It appears that in contrast to Medellin, Cali is getting more and more dangerous. There are even FARC soldiers in the city! Do you have any thoughts or observations? Is it that bad in Cali now?
In 2011 there have been a number of murders and car bombs related to the ongoing mafia war between drug cartels in the city. Shopping centers all over the city have been scenes of shoot outs between rivaling mafia factions. It is advised to avoid shopping centers with poor security, although some of the biggest and most well guarded malls in Cali have been scenes of murders too.
As of 2011 the guerrilla movement FARC-EP has urban militias in the city and surroundings. Extreme caution is advised due to the risk of explosions, gunfire and kidnappings. USA citizens have been targets of kidnappings.
In November 2010 the USA State Department issued a travel warning regarding Cali, warning of a surge in crime, general insecurity and kidnappings. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has issued a warning to travellers to reconsider their need to travel to Cali because of the uncertain security situation in the area.
Cali is considered more dangerous than most other major cities in Colombia; therefore, keep your eyes open at day and night. Try to take a taxi at night.

According to this study Cali and Medellin are the 11th and 14th most violent cities in the world. Not much difference.
I was in Cali 2Xs last year (March and September). I heard and read all the crime and security warnings at that time from the State Department and police organizations. All I can say is it felt perfectly safe for me to walk around the city. I mainly was in the north end, and walk all over the place during the daytime. I was never robbed or saw anyone get robbed.
I also walked around El Centro a few times during the daytime. Never had a problem. At night I was usually in the Ave. Sexta area up to Ave. 8. There were always a lot of people around and it felt safe to me.
Bar La Veinte and Clun Sonero are on the south side of town. I always walked to those places, its a little dicey area, but I always went there in the afternoon. I was told not to be there after 8pm.
Those same type of dire State Department reports on safety can be said of Medellin also. I have walked all over El Centro dozens and dozens of times and never was robbed or felt unsafe.
For me, the same rules apply in Cali. I don't carry any valuables or very much money on me and I always keep a low profile.
Lets face it, those of us who come to Colombia are risk takers. We're not looking for Disney World.

My idea to combine a tourist visit to Colombia with a chica trip, back in November 2010, seemed to be working out. I had spent a nice evening with a prepago in Bogota, done some Amazon travel around Leticia (no mongering unfortunately, though I saw some hot dancing on the Brazilian side of the border) , and small town southern Colombia was fun. Until I took a fall while hiking and sprained my knee.
With Cali next on my agenda I had some concerns. I'm usually of the mind that by taking the normal precautions one would when out in an urban area I will be fine, so in planning my trip I had no reservations about checking out Cali, despite its reputation for crime. But with my busted knee I figured that I would be less able to respond either with fight or flight if I got into any trouble, so I decided to enlist some help. I had seen reports on the Cali Castle, so before I headed to Cali I got the contacts for the proprietor Juan Carlos from their website (now at.
http://jccali.com/
) and called to see what he could do for me.
While the Castle was occupied for use by a film crew (what kind of film, hmmm) , friendly Juan Carlos, whose English made our interactions very easy, said that he could give me a transfer to my guesthouse and set me up with a guide. Juan Carlos picked me up at the bus station and gave me a nice orientation to things in Cali, and introduced me to his cousin Carlos who would show me around (JC couldn't as he was busy showing around a visiting group of Americans). Carlos turned out to be a very nice guy who had lived many years in New York, and he did help with transportation issues and with language when necessary, etc, but he had been pressed into service at the last minute (since contacting JC was such a last minute thing) and actually wasn't a major mongerer himself. As a result I set the itinerary, but I did enjoy having a good wingman for a change (I gave him $80 for accompanying me that day and night).
After checking out some tourist sights (including a historic church where the glammed-up girls arriving for a wedding were some of the hottest I had ever seen) , we headed for Clinica Dr. Amor in the late afternoon. I'm happy to see recent reports that it hasn't lost its luster; this place was the highlight of Cali for me. Upon entry Carlos and I took seats on the couches in the front room, and from time to time a lineup of about 8 to 10 girls would circulate and shake hands with the gathered clientele. On the second round I spotted two petite chicas that appealed to me. I toyed with the idea of a threesome but the spinner of the two was quickly taken, so I went to one of the staff members to book Pam. I felt underdressed as she stood with me at the payment window; this short, cute blonde was wearing a little black cocktail dress. Problem soon solved, as it came off quickly once we went to the room. She was dressed as sexily underneath, with lacy black panties she kept on as she blew me. Those also came off soon enough, and after mounting her in missionary she ultimately rode me in reverse cowgirl to the climax.
After relaxing with a beer on the couches for a while, I saw that the spinner was back in the rotation. Anna Maria wasn't just a spinner, she was a super spinner. This Medellin girl was tiny, and I quickly snapped her up. She was so small that it seemed I might snap her in half once she got her jeans off and we got into action in the room, but fortunately she was flexible too. Her long, dark hair was clasped with barrettes in a school-girlish way, adding to the appeal, and she was diligent in her work like a student ought to be, but things would have been a bit more fun had she been more playful. After another rest I still felt like I had another session in me. To make up for my lack of mongering in the Amazon, I picked a brown Putumayo jungle puta named Mildreda. A real contrast to Anna Maria, she had a thick body packed into a minidress that barely covered her nice, round cola. I admired that ass as I ground into her with her lying on her stomach, a fitting finish for this trip to the Doctor.
After a tasty dinner and a few drinks at a salsa club on Av. Sexta, Carlos and I headed over to Floras Frescas. We weren't sure we had the right place at first, since it was just in a mostly unmarked private house on a quiet side street. Our timing as right, as one of the nightly lesbian shows was beginning shortly. And what a show – two lingerie-clad girls dressed as an angel and a devil respectively staged a strip show duel that left them fully nude, at which point they mad e circuit of the room performing various sex acts using the clients as chairs. Lucky Carlos had the angel sit on his lap as the devil penetrated her with a dildo. It was look but don't touch though, as they batted away wandering male hands. More bizarre, the music selection featured not some high energy beats but slow, cheesy ballads from the 1980s. While the girls were not stunners it was a sexy show and definitely entertaining, albeit in a surreal sort of way. I had expected the show to be a warm-up for some action with one of girls in the club. But while they were dressed sluttily, none really appealed enough for me to commit. There just seemed to be something off with all of them – their fake boobs or asses looked more ridiculous than sexy, or facially they didn't strike me as especially alluring. So we headed out for our next destination.
Escoces night club was the last stop for the night. We sipped our drinks as we watched the girls in bikinis seated at tables with the clientele, usually in small groups. There was some good eye candy on hand, but the lack of a strip show bothered me; it would have made for a good focal point. One hot girl (whom I had a short and unsuccessful negotiation with after the club ended, in part because I needed to find a short time hotel as my guesthouse was not guest friendly) did disrobe briefly near closing time, but that was it. For some reason I was extremely slow in making a selection, partly since most girls were entrenched at other tables so it seemed awkward to call them over. I eventually targeted a slender blonde and Carlos managed to summon her. She was flirty despite the difficulty of communicating in broken Spanish in a loud room, but Carlos assisted. We struck a deal to go to one of the back rooms; while it had a bed, bathroom, it seemed more like a storage closet than a love nest (maybe it was the stairmaster in the corner). While the blonde was definitely energetic, the session disappointed a bit as I had crucially missed the fact that her frilly pink bikini top disguised a meager set of tits, and because the sex was more mechanical and less sensual than I prefer. Even so, I had gotten my money's worth in Cali, and looked forward to a few quiet days in the mountains before Medellin.
