How do expect somebody to call a Uber without a phone?
You can call Uber from inside a building with security, rather than taking your phone out in the street and also taking your attention off your surroundings in the street.
In this way it is no different from any other place.
In some regards, good sense is the same everywhere.
How do expect somebody to call a Uber without a phone?
I think he meant something like keep the phone in the pocket and avoid using it on the street.
How do expect somebody to call a Uber without a phone?
Just about everybody walks around with their phones. No problem as long as you're careful.
If you use your common sense there is no problem walking along Avenida Atlntica at late hours. If you don't use common sense it doesn't matter if it's daytime or nighttime. I've seen much more victims having their necklesses, phones and bags stolen at daytime than at late hours.
It's easy to push anything to the level of absurdity.
Look, I respect your expertise. You've been to Brazil god knows how many times, you speak the language, know local customs, etc.
But you're still a gringo. You stick out like a sore thumb. To a Rio scum you must be rich and carry the newest tech. In other words, you're automatically a target.
And even if you aren't, a typical Rio newbie definitely is.
Of course, one needs a phone to order Uber or answer a call. But one might want to limit their exposure by avoiding a pointless selfie or delaying a pointless SMS or walking into a store for those purposes. How hard is that?
The same logic applies to walking down deserted Av. Atlantica late at night. How is common sense going to protect you when a few street kids are swarming around? And why put yourself in this position to begin with? An Uber ride will cost you $2-3 wherever you're going. Why take even the slightest risk?
That said, I've done it all. I've used my phone in the open and walked down Atlantica and even side streets in the wee hours of the morning. But I know it's dumb because being safe isn't that hard or costly anyway.

Being alert and aware is good, but not being paranoid and acting like you never travelled outside your home city. It just shows that you're scared. The thieves will smell your fear, just like dogs, and target you.
Praa Olavo Bilac 28, cobertura 06, centro.
Thanks. I just meet a girl from https://www.photoacompanhantes.com/acompanhantes/rio-de-janeiro. She gave me that address.
Like in boates and termas, if a GP didn't comply with what you had agreed with beforehand, you can complain to the managers. You won't get your money back, but the GP might get in trouble if it isn't the first time a gringo complains about her. If we keep our mouths shut, then sooner or later all GPS will learn that they can easily scam the gringos with no repercussion. A little solidarity among us can go a long way to helping everybody. What do you guys think?
It's not safe late at night, even on Avenida Atlantica. Uber is quick and cheap, so there's really no need to walk at night.
I agree that registering a girl provides more security despite the walk of shame. You can proactively bring her to the counter, and they'll register her.
You're correct about phones. Carry a cheap phone on the street and keep your iPhone in the room safe. Even so, try not to take your cheap phone out on the street, unless you must.
Thanks. I agree why walk when uber is available at night. From videos of CB and DV it looks like yellow cabs and transport are not issues at night hours. Being from a large pretty rough US city I will naturally keep toward the safe side. I am going to use a cheaper 2nd phone and put my iphone in JW safe when out mongering. I could care less about walk shame. Having her ID at front desk and letting her know beforehand that is nonnegotiable is a must for me. Give her 2nd thoughts of pulling any shit in room; even though that will be pretty shitbag proof as well. Hell I don't even trust the maid. Toothbrush and anything I ingest is in the safe when I travel.

The front desk will not accept a copy or pdf. Before you take her home from the boate, make sure she shows you the ID. I have had to wait for the manager to clear her without this original bullshit.
Any areas to stay that are more tranquil and peaceful but still has access to girls so I'm not left bored? I have a week in Rio and I'm imagining something more relaxed with a hot tub deck with a view I can bang girls on. Does barra the tijuca have enough action? How hard is it to get girls to your place there? I'm good with massage type fun too, I saw some post about how out in floripa nuru massage is abundant since the girls are more "spiritual" types.
Hi gents,
I will be going to Rio for the first time in a few weeks and staying at the Sheraton Grand Rio. I would appreciate any recommendations on places near the hotel. I see the posts about Casablanca and Dolce Vita and plan to check them out. Are there any good sites to line up some company?
TIA!
TN.
USD: BRL 5. 7228 = time to load up on Petrobas, PE <4 and loads of other good stuff, including stellar sex with beautiful young women at $USD 104 a peronite (or less for longer periods). As I type this my wife (for this week) has her mouth full of my cock, so I'll make it a short post.
Enjoy the currency ride.

The going rate is whatever you decide to pay. Girls can ask for whatever they want, but it's your decision whether you want to pay it or counter with your own price. Many DV girls have quoted 5-600 R for one hour and I quickly counter with much less. (Please understand that these working girls have an amazing network on WhatsApp. Whatever amount you pay, will be shared within 24 hours.) I have heard many idiots get on online and say, "I am not going to spend all this money for my flight and hotel just to be cheap with the girls. " Then these same dumbasses are the first ones to complain that the girls are asking for one hour when they used to stay all night for the same price!
Look at the first quote, there is your answer. Americans are massive inflators because of the strong USD. Although many of them don't understand it themselves.

TN.
The Sheraton Grand is a secluded hotel, between Leblon and Sao Conrado (they claim it's in Leblon, but it's not). There are no "places" nearby aside from some good and pricey Leblon restaurants. Casablanca and Dolce Vita are far away from the Grand, just check the distance on the Google map. They have a free shuttle to Copa, but the bus can take up to an hour in traffic, although as I understand they do have the Sao Conrado metro section nearby, so it shouldn't be too bad. The hotel itself is gorgeous with a small beach that feels private (although it's not), huge and beautiful pool and a view to die for if you get the right room. The lobby is a circus, so bringing girls shouldn't be hard at all, as long as she doesn't look or act like a skunk.
Anyone been to 707 lately? Its in an office building in Centro.
