Phuket Reports

To me that is a big draw to the LOS. My first time there I arrived in Bangkok at 1:30 am with no hotel reservation. I knew I wanted to stay near the Nana district so I got the taxi to drop me there. So I am walking up and down the street in the middle of the night looking for a room and I have never felt safer, especially not in LA where I have lived for 30 years. The tourist industry is the #1 industry so there is no way the government will let things get out of control. If the cops see the locals even looking funny at you they will beat them within an inch of their lives.

That said, I'm sure there are certain parts of any city where it is not a good idea to be if you are just visiting, but that's not where we want to be anyhow. Relax, feel safe and enjoy your time there.

I have been to Phuket a couple times, always with my wife though, and so mainly sneak away for a quick MP experience. Some great experiences, others not so great. Problem is that I need to quickly get away and get back usually, so no time to really shop around. Wondering if anyone has some "hotspots" they would suggest for someone in my position. We will stay in Patong, but go to different beaches in other areas, Surin, Kata, Karon, etc. So open to all suggestions! Thanks!

I guess this is a factor of too much choice? In countries with less access, the communities tend to be more active.

5 minute walk to take your lovely GoGo back, or theres even a ST hotel in a Soi just next to the GoGo Soi for a really cheap price.

Secondly, Phuket is very safe, but like everywhere there are some dickheads around. Just use common sense, if someone looks dodgy, stay away. I took girls back to my room. Just keep valuables in the room safe. I have never had an issue with drink spiking, but again, just use common sense and all will be OK.

Due to SCUBA diving I usualy stay at the east coast, around Chalong. The scene there is very low key but so are also the prices. Bar fine usualy 300 BHT and LT 1500 or less. But it's sometime hard to find a 7, 8 or even more in terms of looks.

I am going to be two months in Phuket but not in Patong area. I will be in Chalong. I know I will be not that far out from Patong, Kata and Karong but I was wondering if anyone had tips about Chalong itself.

Katherine Massage and Angel Massage are the bigger ones and there are at least 5-6 nearby which are smaller and provide similar services. I am told that the girls are decent there as well and they are less expensive, due to lower infrastructure costs etc.
