Rio report-The Dark Room, cousins and three women
I had a great time in Rio from a vacation and mongering standpoint. I only went to one place after finding a comfort level and finding workers who would bring their girlfriends to see my GF and I at the hotel and spending some time with us in Buzios. Despite some saying this wouldn't be easy to find (girls to join us that we vibed with) we found it easy and almost had a civilian girl we met at a restaurant.
1. Where did I monger? I was more interested in the spots in Centro due to costs and I generally like more wham bam thank you mam places. I don't particularly like more upscale places and I felt the spots I picked out in Centro would fit the bill. It just happened that the first place I went to wound up being so perfect for me I wound up with three women that didn't work there as a result of me going there. This place is interesting because it is down a small side street (or an alley in my opinion) that is lined with small shops (mostly barbers and ladies hair boutiques) in an office building. You would never know it's there. It's like walking into a tall office building in New York and there is a brothel inside. See the attached photo of the entrance to the building.
When you walk through the revolving door there is a guard to your left. Walk past them straight to the guard desk in front of you. There the guard will take your ID (I simply showed my drivers license on my phone) and they entered it into a PC. Then they hand you a key card where they walk to your right and swipe through a turnstile to get access to the elevators. It is fascinating to me that they need two people to watch you swipe your card LOL. The elevators are to the left and you go to the 20th floor.
Now here is where things get odd.
When you come out of the elevator you are greeted with a long hallway that is completely devoid of sound. There are doors to various businesses (and some unoccupied) and a grey hallway (see photo 1). Now if memory serves me correctly you go to the right and then the first right. Then as you walk look to the right and there is a door to a set of stairs (see photo 2 with the fire hose in the wall). You then walk up one flight of stairs to a door (metal door-I think it is fireproof or something). Once through that door you are on the 21st floor. Then if you walk to your right you will see the door to the Dark Room (see photo 4).
Now before I arrived I contacted them on Whatsapp and they were happy to send me the lineup. I didn't have anyone in mind that day as I was doing this more as a reconnaissance mission ie to feel out what the deal was and try to build a rapport with one of the girls to get what I ultimately wanted-a girl I felt good about about that could come back to the room eventually and spend time with us in Buzios as well. In my mind spending $30 USD-even if I didn't bend one of them over-was worth it to me to get what I wanted. If you spend thousands to get to a vacation in Brazil, $30 USD for information and to connect with the right girl is small money for big rewards. I didn't want to get a girl online or in a club. First the logistics. I do not speak Portuguese but I do speak Spanish. Now I have read over and over that overwhelmingly Brazilians do not speak English and do not understand Spanish. What I discovered in general was that this was false (at least in the tourist areas and the places I went). I learned that if you speak Spanish slowly with basic words and if you BOTH listen to each other you can generally speak to one another. I did find in general people didn't speak or understand English though the girl we nearly picked up at the restaurant did (I did notice people under 30 were speaking much more English than other age groups).

It is very small and crowded inside in general. When you first enter there is a chest high desk that is so big you can barely enter. There was a thin tattooed covered woman sitting in a chair in front who immediately stood up and introduced herself in Portuguese. The women behind the tall desk to the left did not respond. I responded in English and Spanish and she switched to English. Surprise! I touched her on the shoulder and told her in English then Spanish I was happy I could communicate with her. She smiled and said something to the effect of "you sly devil" and I handed her a candy I had in my pocket (I had a pocket full of them). She then walked me to a very crowded, dark small hallway where I could see three or four rooms on each side. The brightly lit room she led me in was so small it barely fit the bed that was inside (see photo). She showed me the menu and the prices and I chose 60 minutes. I wanted to take my time with this adventure.
Now from just walking from the desk area to this small room I saw three scantily dressed women (on theother side of this hallway I could hear men talking) and I knew from my Whatsapp inquiry there were six there that morning (I got there about 10:30 AM). The tattooed woman tells me she will introduce her best to me first and then all other others.
The first woman she introduced me to was a very short (maybe five feet tall or less) chica (she has the white tank top on in the photos). These beaches are cleaner and so is the water. I prefer Leblon and if I ever went back to Rio it is 100% the neighborhood I would stay in. The only disadvantage is it is far from the brothels. 3. Esch Cafe (cigars)- I wanted to buy a few Cubans and headed to Esch Cafe which is a small cafe that sells a large variety of cigars. Too far from Rio for a weekend excursion and in my estimation was an overpriced seaside village with boutique shops that only ladies would be interested in. Worth going if you have the time and money. Praia the Ferradura-rocky cliffs and horseshoe size.
Praia the Foca-gorgeous with a natural pool; can't swim.
6. Safety.
I had 0 problems in Rio. Frankly, unless you are an oblivious tourist I didn't find it any more dangerous than any big city in the USA. I always used cash (I don't trust vendors to hand them my credit card unless I am in a restaurant) and didn't venture out at 3 am. Frankly I think the safety issue in Rio is overblown. If you are a grown man you will be just fine. Bruna said the favelas are dangerous and you just don't go out late at night. She said other than that you will be ok. I always kept my backpack in the front of me in large crowds and when I saw a man or group of guys giving me that "I'm sizing you up" look I stared them right back down and they looked away.
Overall I enjoyed my trip. Many would say I limited myself by only dealing with Bruna and her friends but sometimes its about quality and not quantity and frankly getting what you want as an individual. Would I fly all the way back to Brazil for more? No. I didn't find it anymore special than anyplace else I have mongered. I have so much more I can share but I have already written a novel so if anyone has questions reach out.
