Cartagena Reports
What is the dress code like in CTG.
I'll be in CTG the same weekend as Player2. It's my first time there, I've been to Curacao many times, I think the dress code is similar - Money and Condoms:)

I believe this weekend there will be final days for Miss Colombia 2008 (la reina nacional). Does anybody know how to get there, it looks like it is held in the Centro de Convenciones Cartagena de Indias. Do you know how to get tickets and how/where to meet Miss Colombia, or at least some of the Miss wannabees?;)

I was reading some Colombian websites, they do not say much.

One Colombian girl wrote to me that now is a really good time to go there.
****
ahora mismo esta de fiesta...fiesta de independencia y tambien estar eligiendo la reina nacional, quien representara a colobmia en mis universo...asi que te encantar y debes ir preparado para una buena rumba (fiesta)

So, Player2, we should have great time there!

Hey All,

I have been a long time member of ISG and love it as it is information at its best.
My usual trip is Rio but this year after reading so many great things about Cartagena I am adding a few days there onto the end of my Rio trip.

I will be going to rio first for 7-10 days and catching Cartagena on my way back to ATL.

I am planning on 12-3-08 to 12-10-08 in Rio and 12-10-08 to 12-14-08 in Cartagena.
Planning time is short for the Cartagena portion of my trip so some help would be very greatly appreiciated and rewarded with a couple of cold ones if you are down there when I come through.

So heres what I need to know:

I always stay at apartments and would like to do so again here but I would also like it to be on the beach or very close I hear Juan has some any good ones you guys know of to suit my needs as listed above?

Also how far would this area be from the city action?

The beach action from what I have read here is pretty good but mixed reviews of Tony and his policies so are there any other good beach spots for good local action?

Also I understand COP and the currency conversion but what is MIL?

Thanks in advance for your help!
... If you are going to Colombia I highly suggest you learn spanish if you do not know it at all. Despite what others might say, spanish is ESSENTIAL if you are interested in the non-pro scene in Colombia. English is very rarely spoken. You might also want to consider going to Panama if you do not have spanish speaking skills, or even the Dominican, as both of these places have more english speaking people, and both are much more secure than Colombia. Just my personal opinion from having spent time in all three of these countries.
Good advice here.

For non-pros, like Urban says, speaking spanish is ESSENTIAL.

As as far as with the pros, the spanish adds more than you can imagine to the experience with them.

You can be just another dumb gringo to them, or can have fun with them and turn your time into a nice GFE.

Good luck

It is a long way from the chicas you can get in Rio.

It is also not the safest way to get chicas.

Sorry to say LDV is the only place where you can meet a chica and do not have to worry toooo much about your things.

If you meet one on the beach go to a short time hotel. Such as the one near the Hotel Playa. See the List. Updates coming shortly.

RagingBeast,

It is my belief that any apartamento in Laguito you get through either Juan or Mery will suit your needs. They will be either oceanfront or on the other side of a relatively narrow street (with a lagoon on the backside).

Laguito is a 10 minute taxi ride to the el centro and the historic district. The cost = 5 mil pesos. The mil = a thousand, so that 2 mil pesos would be 2,000 pesos, 5 mil pesos would be 5,000 pesos, etc. The mil is not an abbreviation for million, as 2 million pesos would be 2,000,000.

You can be successful in scouting areas on the beach just South and to the North of where Tony reigns. That being said, Tony's not that bad and I can echo other's comments that he does come-up with some gems.

You can also do as some others do---don't get beers, etc., from him, but do scout Hollywod and let him know that you'd appreciate him letting you know if he comes across something that fits your parameters. Let him know what you like (for instance, flacco or morena. etc.), and eventually you'll be looking at something you can't resist.

Hilltopper,

Thank you very much for the information you cleared up alot of important things for my trip.

I know in Rio right now is very busy and hard to find a apartment is this the same with CTG right now and is this area atleast relatively safe I have travelled alot across south america by myself and never had a problem but you keep hearing things about safety in CTG.

Thanks again and if you are there when I come down drinks are on me :)

Only have two days in CTG as I go to BAQ to see the Novia.

Many visitors here as the beauty pagent runs till Sunday.

Staying at the Conquetator and at the outdoor bar across the street I took Cloudia and Sandra for a nice BBBJ experence. As my wingman had the apt. Tied up I went to their place at the Atlantis Apts. That was a trip as There were 4 other girls already there running around half naked. As far as money I could not nail down a set price with them so they said to give them what I thought they were worth at the finish. To me that is always good news since they will always work hard to earn. The amount I paid was 80K each and since the dollar is so strong it didn't hurt to much. I don't know about you guys but I am in heaven when I am getting a BBBJ while the other girl is kissing me all over. Cloudia is the hotter one of the two but Sandra trys very hard to please.

After that I went to LDV and I must admit in the past I have not really liked CTG but I am starting to like it more as I keep returning. Many 9s there and also many mongers. This place was jumping and now I must put it ahead of TR in Lima for that kind of experence.

O yeah also went to the Playa and Tony had some decent talent there. They asked around 160K but I passed on that.

I have to save some leche for the Novia.

I'll be back from 11/27-12/15.Anyone around I'll be at the Playa Mar.Heres a couple of pics I'm sure all the vets will know!

Raging,

You're welcome. I believe in trying to giving back to the "community", LOL.

While you shouldn't have any problem finding an apartamento in Laguito during that time, I would't wait any longer to get one reserved. I know guys who have rented from Juan and have been happy, and myself and several buddies have rented from Mery without a hitch. It is my belief that you won't go wrong going through either one.

I can echo what Tom33 said---I've found the safety issue to be fine in Laguito, Boco Grande, the old city and Castillo Grande. I've also hung out with locals in Manga and the restaurant/bar district in Gestemani at night without problem, but haven't ventured off solo in those two areas.

I've been through other areas while in a taxi that I don't believe are in my best interest to walk around-in at night and one area that felt a little edgy at night even while in a taxi. But I can say that about any city in the World that I've been in with a population over a million and even most much smaller.

My first ever trip, I stuck to the tourist zones Tom33 mentioned. I didn't know anybody and spoke a fraction of the Spanish I stumble through with now.

All that being said, I've found good common sense is always called for. Whether here in the city where I live or while travelling. As the old American Express commercial said. "don't leave home without it. "

Have fun!
Not trying to rain on your parade, but.

As long as you're certain that you aren't passing anything on to a 19-year old Colombiana that has a full life ahead of her. Or the young ladies who follow each other in your encounters. There's always at least the other person to be considered in that equation.
Did you know that every chica barebacks with her Colombian novio? They start fucking at 16 so who is passing what to who?

Here are a few pics from the Pageant. Sorry I did not get better ones. I did not like the head band either. It ends on Wednesday according to the schedule.

These Colombians are fanatics about the Pageant.
