In Pattaya a girl works at a gogo bar on a contract, usually 7 or 10 days. They can't just show up for work on a random night whenever they believe a customer will meet them there. If they don't fulfill their entire contract they don't get paid and have to pay the barfine each day they don't show up for work. At least this is how it worked pre-COVID. I think MP has confirmed there are currently no contracts since business is slow.

By now the girls have personally experienced the trends and customer flow from night to night in ways I have not. I assume no night is seen as potentially worth the trip for at least 2,000 baht to them as when they have been told by a trusted repeat customer that he will go there tonight to take her.

And when those couple of girls Line me to ask if I please will go to their bar on a certain night I have no delusions that I am the only trusted repeat customer they have been calling to ask about that.

But I don't know if the girls in the go-go bars I have gone into and pulled from since the reopenings are now "commission-only" or not. I have not asked.

But in some of the cases I mentioned the behavior of the mamasans and the girls has all the earmarks of them being "commission-only." They are much more attentive and aggressive about wanting to know how they can close a barfine deal with me ASAP and not even all that interested in sitting around hustling LDs since the commission on that is much less by comparison to the money they can make from a barfine and the pool of potential customers for it is very small these days.

However, I felt that in some bars the reception was so cool and aloof they could very well be pulling some level of salary: Rainbow 2, Butterflies, Billboard, for example.

One of the repeat girls I mention called me recently and told me she had not gone to her bar for three nights but would definitely make the trip if I was going there to take her that night. And I am fairly certain that call was triggered by her mamasan who called her to say I passed by her bar and chatted with her standing outside the night before as I was heading to a different bar. She said the mamasan told her she saw me and chatted a bit. Actually, the mamasan tried to match me up with a different eager candidate in her line up but I was headed to a different bar and mamasan for the same higher than usual quality of service that night.

There was no indication that the girl would or did suffer a penalty for not showing up for a few days in a row.

But like you and others have mentioned there does not seem to be contracts at this time as bars could not even afford to have girls if contracts had to be paid out.

As for commission basis for mamasans, I assumed they were always on commission basis since they are imo the agents / pimps. The more aggressive behavior is likely out of pure desperation during these times.

Am I the only person who ignores and does not speak with mamasans or bar managers/owners unless they're fairly hot like S at Infinity agogo or the bar owner of a bar in Simon Complex on 2nd? They serve no purpose to me.

For managers, used to always talk to Nick from Spankys BKK and share some drinks with him. Very decent guy. Mamasans in G clubs like the pimp in BKK however are totally different. Have one which has known me for years and always brings me girls meeting my spec. Almost every time she can pick my type as well as knows my needs. That mamasan is invaluable.

They would find it hysterical when I told them that I wanted to bar fine THEM. When they realized that I was serious, then things got interesting. Out of all the gogos I went to, I would say I had at least a 90% success rate. And it was all worth it. Sure they may be a bit older, but they still looked pretty good and they were ALL about the skills. They put on no airs, threw down and got healthy tips on top. I think that they liked to be appreciated and that they still have "it".

Hell, I'd barely talk to the girl about anything beyond names, where you from, where you stay kind of stuff. Just gesture to come over, buy a LD (if that), agree to pay the girl's asking price or close to it and you're good to go for that level of service with 99.99% of the bargirls in Thailand.

Generally speaking, mamasans are totally useless for important intel on their girls. They don't know anything. They don't even notice which of their girls tends to get a lot of repeats from local expat Farang customers, which could be an important bit of info for someone like me. And telling a mamasan my "spec" is a good looking young girl who would be comfortable to have "boom boom no condom" with me has gotten a lot of interesting responses throughout the years but never produced a rewarding result for me.

Until about a year ago.

Several months back I happened to take a girl in a go-go bar that turned out to be one of the mamasan's "favorites"; a girl who is tight with the mamasan, moves with her to whatever bar she works, is in close contact with her for various reasons. My session with that girl went very well and a week or so later I repeated. Next thing I know my girl has told her mamasan everything about the sessions and apparently the reviews were good on all the factors that could matter to either one of them; that I was clean, polite, nice to her in the room, fun to be with, paid fairly, was no pregnancy risk (vasectomy), had a recent all clear medical blood check document and that doing BBFS, "boom boom no condom", with me had produced no ill effects and downsides.

Seriously. The next time I went into that bar and my repeat girl happened not to be there (I wasn't really looking for her that time anyway), the mamasan made a beeline for me and told me everything above that she knew about me and that "I know what you want. You good man. I will get for you." And, with that, she walked over to the line of girls sitting on the stools during their dance break, leaned in to say something to the first one and pointed to me on the other side of the bar. Head shake no. Next girl, same thing, brief chat, pointing to me, but that time the girl looked over, popped a big beaming smile and nodded Yes. So the mamasan took that very cute, slim, lovely young girl by the hand and brought her to me. She plopped down next to me, gave me a hug and seemed thrilled by the prospect of me taking her and potentially being my next repeat as she'd seen me do with the previous girl. To seal the deal and assure me this was not a scam, the mamasan leaned in between the two of us and said the words to the girl in English and Thai; "You ok to do boom boom no condom with him? He good man." Absolutely Yes.

I bought the girl and the mamasan a LD, the girl changed into her street clothes and off we went to a very rewarding session in my room for both of us. No hassles, no confrontations, no further discussion about condoms, no change of heart unpleasant surprises, just good times. Oh, I also passed a 100 baht note to the mamasan on our way out of the bar.

That pattern repeated itself several times in that bar with that mamasan, each time with a new and different girl ("'New' is good", the mamasan would say) unless I insisted on repeating one from before, which I still did on occasion.

Not long after that, a second mamasan in another go-go bar responded positively to my "spec" request as well. Wonder of wonders. And this was one of those bars where the girls' reception for me when I walked in was cool, aloof and seemingly disinterested. These mamasans have seen me around for years. Do they compare notes? Again, this was long before the reduction in tourism and shutdown. Recently, since the reopening of some of the bars, two more mamasans in other bars have responded similarly to my "spec" request; The mamasan goes over to a line up of girls on the stage or sitting on the sidelines, chooses a girl to chat briefly with and points to me. That girl or maybe the next one smiles and nods and the mamasan brings her to me for my approval.

Now, I can no longer dismiss all mamasans as useless to my needs as I did in years past. To be sure, not every mamasan in every bar responds so positively to my "spec" request. It is still hit and miss. But hit and miss over the past year or so is quite a bit better than the way it was before. I leave it to others here to decide whether or not the kind of service I described above is worth talking to a mamasan about, buying her a LD and maybe tipping her an extra 100 baht.

btw, this is primarily about my experiences in various Bangkok go-go bars. I can't say I have had any luck on this count with Pattaya go-go bars. However, from what I read, getting BBFS+CIP without a word of discussion about it with the hottest Pattaya go-go girls touted by the Pattaya go-go bar experts here is "the norm" anyway. And if you pay more than 1,000 baht for that and a Long Time with those hottest girls in the best Pattaya go-go bars, you really aren't trying very hard. So talking to a mamasan about what I talk to them about is apparently totally unnecessary in Pattaya even if you are taking the top girls in the best Pattaya go-go bars.

Those are Sapphire girls in Mr. E's photo and in general Sapphire dancers are older. Many have been there for 5+ years. I would say both cities are age comparable. Thai girls in both cities start at an early age and the unlucky unsponsored ones work til their 60's in bar beers.

Happy agogo has a cheaper barfine than most upper tier gogo bars. I remember in 2015/2016 when their barfine was 800 baht vs 2000 at What's Up and 1500 at Sensations.
