First time in Bangkok - Report Part 1
I thought I'd break this up roughly by day, and put in some information which might help newbies to Bangkok especially in this report.
As I mentioned before, I am on a trip in BKK with my girlfriend. However, due to a long and painful comedy of errors, she could not go with me the first day, and had to arrive the second day.
When I arrived at the airport, I immediately went to the ATM machines to exchange money. They give a good rate and will take virtually all international ATMs. This is true throughout BKK. There were also counters where you could change cash.
A bit farther down on the other side there are lots of booths dealing with cell phones. I went to the AIS counter, which sells pre-paid sim cards for gsm phones. (You do have an unlocked gsm phone, don't you? If your phone is branded by your phone company its probably locked, and you can go through a lot of painful suffering to unlock it - good luck) The sim cards are 250 baht, which includes 50 baht of calling time (2 baht per min, so 25 min of time) If you want to be safe you can have them add on another 100 baht to the card right there.
I dodged all the people offering private taxis, went downstairs, outside, to the desk where you arrange the official taxis. You tell them where you want to go. I am staying at Livingstone's lodge on Sukhumvit Soi 33. You'd think they'd have no problem with going to Soi 33 as its a pretty well known area, but they always act really confused, you have to keep telling them a few times. They will tell you its a fixed 400 baht rate which includes the 50 baht airport charge and the skyway toll. Don't accept this, its too expensive and they won't use the skyway anyway and thus rip you off for the toll. Tell them you want to use the meter. They'll say "ok, meter plus 50 baht fee, plus skyway toll". Tell them you don't want the skyway. They pretended not to understand so I had to tell them like 5 times. I've been back and forth to the airport 3 times now, and its been between 180 and 220 baht each time, so the straight meter is much better.
To get to Livingstones, you go up Soi 33, past the Novotel, at which point the taxi driver gets confused. Tell him to keep driving forward. After about 100 yards you will pass Bacchus on your left, then see the two big tusks which are the entrance to the walkway. There are girls standing all around the entrance. When you actually walk into the hotel, though, its really beautiful. The rooms are immaculate and charming, and the whole hotel has a great tropical feel to it.
I was tired so I didn't want to go out too much, so I went and sat by the pool. There was some sort of event going on for Songkran so a lot of girls were in the pool. They kept wanting me to jump in with them with all my clothes on but I had to decline. I then went into the sports bar and had a beer, and was joined by a cute girl. I bought her a drink after a while, but she wasn't pushy about it at all. She sat and flirted with me for a long time for that one drink.
After 1am, the place shut down. It's strange that in a place as wild as Bangkok, every bar and club shuts down promptly and exactly at the legal closing time. Since the other girls were all gone anyway, I invited the girl back to my room with me, for 3000 baht plus bar fine. This may be a little pricey, but I'm not sure.
The girl gave me a nice shower, then a pleasant and relaxed massage, and then a great blowjob. She really appreciated the air conditioning and bottled water in the room. She tried to have sex with me after, but I was just too tired, so we went to bed. The next morning we fooled around and I got another great blowjob. She was willing to hang around for a while but I had a bit of work to do in the room (the wireless internet works great by the way) so I had to make her leave. She still stayed until around noon though, which is later than I expected. Before she left she gave me advice of what to do in the city. Its nice that Thai's have a lot of national pride and want foreigners to see good things when they visit.
At 2pm I went down and had a great breakfast by the pool. I was really impressed that I could get the free breakfast so late. The western breakfast is quite good, and to mix it up you should try the Thai breakfast too sometimes, which is a tasty chicken soup with rice and ground chicken.
Well, that was my first day, hope this helps.

First Time in Bangkok - Report Part 2
After breakfast I wanted to go get some cold drinks at 7-11 and look around a little bit. So I walked down the street the 2 blocks to 7-11. I had heard about Songkran but I didn't fully appreciate it how much the Thai's love to throw water on people. I was totally soaked from head to foot within a minute. Unfortunately I was wearing my slacks, shoes, and socks, which took days to dry. I was also really worried about my camera and cell phones. I got some plastic bags at 7-11 and wrapped them up, and they seemed fine. The rest of the day I basically hid in my room and got some work done.
In the evening I got a cab over to the airport to pick up my girlfriend. We came back, and she was really impressed with Livingstone's too. She likes the tropical feel a lot, and loves the lights in the room.
We headed over to Soi Cowboy between Soi 23 and Soi 21. Taxi drivers all know it by name. We wandered into a few places and finally settled on Long Gun, which put on quite a show. There were many naked girls doing various acrobatic tricks, along with some of the things Thailand is famous for, such as smoking cigarettes, blowing whistles and blowing out birthday candles with certain body parts. It was good to see the show, but I wouldn't actually come here to pick up on the girls. The ladies drinks were very expensive and they just stayed with the guys for like 2 minutes. On the other hand, no one was pushy at all, and we saw a 1. 5 hour show for the price of one beer and a bottle of water.
We walked over to Cowboy 2, a cute and fun bar. The girls weren't naked there but were very upbeat, sang along to all the songs and encouraged everyone to dance. They pulled my girlfriend on stage and she danced with them for a while. She was a great sport about it and didn't even get upset about the drunk cantonese guys trying to grab her (though they were pretty easily deterred)
The next day we went to go see the Chatuchak weekend market at the end of the BTS skylne at Mo Chit. Its worth seeing for the experience, though its a little overwhelming. Get a guidemap somewhere that shows which sections have what.
On the way back we took the BTS to Phaya Tai. We went out the northeast exit, then walked down Sri Ayuthaya for a couple blocks. On the left there is a huge soapy suds place called Chao Phaya 2. I heard this was a little better than Chao Phaya 1 on the right hand side. We went in, and my girlfriend and I each chose one girl from behind the fishbowl for the "body to body" massage. It was 1900 baht, and involves washing in a bathtub, then a lot of body scrubbing on an inflatable bed. This is followed by a massage, BJ, and sex. The girl was a bit mechanical but the soapy suds part was a lot of fun. My girlfriend seemed to have a great time too, though unfortunately we were in seperate rooms so I wasn't there to see it. The only caution here is that they ask what you want to drink, but then they charge you for the drink. Not a big deal, but it surprised me.
Well, thats enough for now.
