Mouse, customs are there to block illegal imports, smuggling of various products and to cash excise & duties on behalf of the government.
Maybe they might have something to say if you bring ONE kg of medicines of any kind.
Due to the nature of the drug you bring in, they will not believe you need so much for personal use as you take 10 tablets a day...
It is of course all up to you to do what you want, but if we do not read from you in the near future, we'll know why:))

You've got a lot more to worry about than intellectual property rights in Hong Kong. Viagra, cialis etc are prescription drugs in Hong Kong and possession - yes even simple possession of such without a prescription is a crime.
We had a famous case a few years back when one of the scions of a prominent - and connected - HKG family was arrested for having on his possession 1 - yes ONE - viagra pill without a prescrfiption. Convicted too by the way!!

Personal experience:: customs definately care about not having a prescription in some countrys. Even though I was let go with a warning they were very serious and it was touch and go for a while and up to who ever the supervisor was at that time, at that airport, in that country. released with a stern warning for viagra with no prescrip.
It used to be no problem 3-4 years ago but now they are cracking down on it???

SEAJ[/QUOTE]OK, I stand corrected. I still think you'd be pretty unlucky to be picked up, but I guess it's possible. I can't see any reports on the web about this being a crime, apart from the crime of re-exporting grey market drugs (ie IP issues), but I'll take your word for it.
By the way, I exaggerated about the 1kg of viagra and cialis, but I have about 80 tablets, and they certainly are for my personal use... :)

I think you are mistaking people providing advice and 'flaming'. In most modern legal systems possession of prescription medication without a prescription is illegal. Whether they enforce the laws or not has no bearing on it being criminal. You may or may not get lucky and not be prosecuted. On this board we regularly discuss criminal acts and ignore the fact that it is a criminal act. That can give us a false sense that we can flout all laws. In some countries we can. In some we cannot. If I show up to Australia and they find I didn't declare some prescription drug I will be in big trouble. If i declare it they ask if I have just enough for my use while traveling. If I answer yes then they send me on my way. If they found that I have a kilo of it I don't want to think of what they'd be putting me through. What you are doing simply seems silly to many of us as the risk/reward is to seep for most of us. Good luck on your travels and I think we are all waiting to hear how things turn out.

I have made over a 100 trips with it and it never crossed my mind that it was illegal. OK, it probably is. It is a risk that I will continue to take... From my figures 1 kilo would be £40,000's worth, so yes, I would expect to be prosecuted and fined, if not slung in jail.
Anyway, we all have our risk thresholds, and frankly carrying a few viagra in my suitcase is way way down on my scale of things. Live life on the edge, take a gamble, do one dangerous thing every day... :)

I am headed to Thailand in December. I see the exchange rate on line is around 33 to $1. Is the rate there about the same or is the street rate better?
