I'm sure she tells him that its "drinks only", and he knows I have a rotation of a bunch of ladies, so there is no threat. He never seems to be angry, but I do feel a bit embarrassed riding in his taxi.

I am not on the ground at the moment but I am surprised as there hasn't really been any mention of it over the last few days, How's it been, how's it going. Anyone on the ground feel it's been quieter this year as in less tourists visiting etc because of the global political situations / middle east situation etc?

Marked drop in tourists as observed when walking through Terminal 21 BKK. Yes, there were bunches of water warriors battling on Sukhimvit and Soi 4 but nowhere near the density and intensity of last year. Today Thursday and haven't heard a single scream, tuk tuk or boom box all day.

None of this affected mongering, not only for me, but seems others as well. Yesterday evening was put on wait list for ST room at Ruamchitt above Thermae. When I got the call for my room, there were 4 couples queued behind us. All Asian guys with Thermae girls. For me, Thai Friendly was very productive for hookups during the holidays. I just directed them straight to ST hotel to minimize encounters with the water warriors prowling Sukhimvit. I feel like a scavenger.

Low Season has begun, and ladies who were swarmed with customers now don't have any. The first few days are a big shock. Those who know me try to relieve their anxiety by setting up a date in my condo. For $2000.

I'm going to have to endure this for the next six months.

Skype used to work until its demise in May 2025 but now US banks reject all VOIP calls for security reasons.

I am also having trouble activating the international service of my monthly-prepaid DTAC cellular phone.

It works perfectly, but is $12 per each day used and must be prearranged before leaving USA. I use Thailand ESIM for everything other than calls and texts to USA financial institutions.

I keep both a Thai ESIM and USA ESIM installed in my phone. I disable the USA ESIM when I'm not calling or texting USA.

I am not sure how much the calls cost per minute to which destinations but I topped it up with the equivalent of about 1000 baht two years ago, have made multiple calls to my USA bank on the West Coast, an investment firm on the East Coast, my tax preparer, etc and been kept on hold for an hour or so at a time before connecting to work out whatever issues and I still have 600+ baht in the app yet to use so it must be darn cheap. Connections have been fine every time and the rare occasion where I have an issue or not sure how to make a certain type of call, the email response has been fast and great.
