Going to Cebu soon.. looking for a hotel recommendation.
Cheap, in the middle of the action, NO BUGS. Wireless in the lobby or room would be nice, as would a TV... but no requirement.
Have these on my list right now:
Castle Peak Hotel
Richmond Plaza Gotel
Century Hotel
Cebu View Tourist Inn
GV Tower Hotel (next to uni)
Pacific Pensionne
Kiwi Lodge
Diplomat Hotel
The cheaper the better, but I do want a certain. Standard.
Which ones should I put on the top of the list? Which ones should I skip? Did I miss any?
Also. How does tipping work in the Philippines? Am I supposed to tip the security guy? If so. HOW? Just walk up to him and give him 500 peso? (is 500 enough? )
Oh, and what does a day pass to the waterfront hotels pool cost?
Dude, I'm sorry. Your first post is kind of confusing. You say you want cheap, but are asking if 500 pesos is enough to tip security. What's your level of traveling and mongering? And have you read the threads thoroughly? Standards? And you are asking about pension houses? Really, I'm not trying to rip you, but you have a lot of conflicting statements so it's confusing me and maybe others.

The Return
Gentlemen,
I am supposed to be returning to PI on Oct. 16-19. Not sure where to go, but am thinking of Cebu as I really like it there as well (see old reports-Viking Bar).
Stayed at Holiday Plaza and had a blast even ventured out to Alona Kew beach for some fun, but the chick really sucked big time (thanks FH) and only stayed for a few days.
Will be going with two newbies with no idea about the scene. Both seem pretty cool, but I know I will be taking a big risk. One is a Filipino guy, speaks Tagalog, but raised in USA and never been to Phils even though his dad and family are in Luzon. He really looks more Spanish than Filipino, but both assure me they want to party. :)
Usually I would take my newbies to Angeles for the breaking in proper, but maybe we start off easy for the sake of emotional security.
Thinking I might take WR up on his contact info offering. Anyone else down there want to join me for a drink, PM me.
I could call this girl from Tacloban who is spoken for but wants to set me up with endless supply of fresh Leyte pussy. Not sure what to do but I do have good memories of Cebu. Like WR, I like the city, not too big or too small, and some good people down there.
Any input on taking newbies to PI?
Almost forgot, a day pass to the waterfront pool is somewhere around 20-30$ USD. If I remember correctly. They have casino there, but if I remember my thoughts were that it was not worth it. Plus get ready for the Korean invasion while there. (Too many young screaming kids for me).

As for the tip, was thinking "one time thing"; thats why I asked. I have _NO_ idea how much to tip people generally, since in the country where I'm from. We don't tip, anywhere.

Squirters and beaches
3 more weeks before blast off. Manilla for a night then straight to cebu.
Will be hunting for spinner mulatto chicks, and or squirters will get extra big tip. I have had a couple GF's that squirt and if you have not had the experience with one, get it. Its pretty awesome. But I have yet to find a asian chick who can squirt.
Any recommendations for a bungalow style resort on the beach around cebu?
Maybe something 5-10 minute taxi ride out of town. I hear there are nice beaches in the area and want to stay there and hang out in the day and do my biz on computer and head into town for night life. A place with wifi would be the first choice.
Thanks dudes.
Any suggestions for bringing trinkets for the lbfm's, cheap perfume? Silk panties? I suppose its all cheap over there and cheaper. From canada its like maple syrup and moose meat and smoked salmon, hehehe.

20-30 dollars for a day pass to the Waterfront pool is a bit steep. My advice would be to go to the gym there. 400 odd pesos for the gym and access to the pool is included!

Your right! Don't know where Carmex got his info but it is only 200 php. Sometimes they run a promo and it is free!

Bungalow Bill
Any recommendations for a bungalow style resort on the beach around cebu?
If you are referring to accomadations on Mactan, not many bungalows out there. Try going north towards Carmen or south past Naga.

hotels
Forget about tipping securtity guard 500. 10-20P if they do something like carry bags to taxi etc is enough but not essential.
Pacific Pensionne is a nice pension about 800P free wifi in lobby, but the rooms are pretty basic. If you are a backpacker and just want somewhere to sleep its fine, but if you are going to be enjoying alot of girls, much better to spend 1500-2000 for a decent hotel room. I stayed at the Mango Park about 1600-1800 P for standard/"delux". Because it was the only mid priced place I could find with a swimming pool and free wifi in the room. There are other hotels with smarter room for a little less momney but typically they will charge 50-100P an hour for wifi. If you end up using wifi alot this makes a big difference.

Chocolate is always a huge favourite and will always be gratefully accepted by any girl you meet. The other items I bring are cheap cell phones, again a big hit with the girls. Cell phones can be bought new in my country for around 12-15 dollars and the girls will be extra grateful if you hand one of these over as a gift. I normally bring half a dozen cell phones and unless the girl is working in a bar or has a good job they will usually have a very basic out of date model, or even one borrowed from another family member. I save these for the special ones that perform beyond expectations or those I really want to see again.
It is nearly three weeks since I was in Cebu and since I have got back home I have spent all my time thinking about going back. Things got the better of me the other night whilst enjoying a glass or two of my favourite wine and I ended up booking another flight at the end of November, sadly only for two weeks. I look forward to adding some more reports although I will be spending most of my time with one or two regular gf's.

Good advice M.
I buy the large slabs of Cadburys chocolate (or failing that Swiss chocolate like Milka or Lindt) as the girls are somewhat brand focused. Also many think Hersheys is not chocolate (IMHO I agree with them).
Mobiles are great, some would prefer one with a camera but many are grateful for a new phone not one held together by duct tape and I tend to give those to non bar girls I meet and like.
Cheap perfume can be bought where I live and took with me some Vicoria Secrets (price equivalent Euro 15) and again gratefully received.
I also bought one girl some very sexy VS lingerie and some Honour (UK) kinky wear but then she is a tad special and looks an 11 when she wears it with the heels and stockings but that is an exception to the rule - no photos sorry she not for sharing
Others like to be taken to SM Mall and be bought a few simple, cheap clothes, cheap and cheerful they maybe but makes them happy and love you more ;)

well, obviously I got my info from BEING there!!! Sounds like I got ripped off when I went, and it wasn't even for the entire day, half of the pool was under repair, and the exposed sewer line smelled like, well, exposed sewer line.
I'm guessing this was about 1 yr ago, so prices may have come down.
As for 20-30 USD sounding steep, um, yea, I was like, "Yea that sounds a bit steep to me also!!!" But the girl I was with wanted to go, so we went.
We were not staying at the hotel, so maybe that contributed the price as well. Nice towels though and the drinks were about 4-5 USD a drink.
I guess the term YMMV applies.

Okay, thanks
Last question - I'm supposed to get a double room if I plan on seeing girls, right?
I mean, getting a single room and having girls over every night would be bad?

I stayed at the Mango Park but did not like it. It does have a small pool on the roof.

man, i never do that. in the pi i haven't had any issues like that but i'm sure there are some places. as was mentioned, you might want to bump up your price level if you want standards. i didn't like the pension places. hotels are not good values in the pi except maybe in angeles. i stay at holiday plaza and it's about 2000 pesos a night, comes with kind of a crappy breakfast buffet for 2. the internet is like 100 pesos an hour or you can buy a bigger card for more of a discounted rate. the speed was real fast for me wifi wise. my personal experience is that you get more time on the card than advertised. my last trip in march i had a couple of cockroaches but it didn't bother me much. i just left there and didn't see any. it's pretty quiet there so sleeping is easier if you are a light sleeper and it's in a good location. easy to walk to the little mall and a little more walk but really not a big deal walk to mango bars. i walk it all the time, but for some reason the little mob kids are getting pretty aggressive near the area of julianna's at night.
also, the diplomat is just a little farther down the street and i believe is cheaper and people recommend it here. i didn't care for it. i thought it was noisier and had other issues. you could probably compare the two if you had to. holiday plaza pretty much never sells out. they tried to put me in a smoking room last week and it was pretty bad. the non smoking room was by far better.

Another nice alternative is out on Mactan at the Shangri-La.
For around 30 USD, you get the use of the pools, private beach and a lunch buffet. Nice place for a day trip!
