Screw the Olympics and Help!
Prices at 4 X 4 went up by BR10. So if you session for one hour, the going rate is now BR 220 ! So far there has not been an Olympic sized rise in prices, but I am not holding my breath. I should be there Tuesday!!! I can't wait ;)... As far as it is being reported, the entrance fee is still BR 40 and they waive the entry fee if you session before 5:00pm. I guess I'm going to have to get up early :D
If they raise the price for the Olympics it will hurt them. The Olympics are for people who fly to Rio for the Olympics, and not garota da programma. Most Olympic fans will be on official business or with friends and families, on tight Olympic game ticket schedules. Let alone getting stuck on the metro or street traffic trying to make each event on-time. Us mongers will only know where to go, and only will be there for mongering. So if the termas try and be greedy on their prices, some of us will go else where. I'm sure Barra Tijuca termas will love taking business fron Copa termas. And the downtown termas will not get much business during the Olympics, because the Olympic traffic will be a factor, and most people will get intimidating walking on BA to get to the termas I frequent. Then I keep numbers of termas girls who freelance, as well as girls who keep their visitations to apartments bet R150-200.
As for renting apartments, if Help ever closes, the many Copa girls will now longer afford their apartments. there will be rooming 30 girls, sleeping in shifts, by pooling apartment money. This will cause many available apartments after and before the Olympics at a cheaper rate for mongers.
Man you could not be more right!
This might be some of the best insight I have read on this website in years. Just got back from Rio and I was dissappointed by how prices had gotten out of control. I am afraid that World Cup is going to be out of control. I bought an apartment in Rio a month before they annouced the World Cup. THen I was really excited about the Olympics coming to Brazil. BUT if the Brasilans do not learn soon they will ruin the too largest events in the WORLD!
That being said, the talent in Copa this year was great!
Rio merchants, restaurants and taxi drivers keep on gouging and soon you will have no tourists here. On the plane to Rio December 30, based upon the line at immigration about 90% of the passengers were Brazilian. Went to Siqueira Grill tonight and it was about 50% full. Why? Prices up 25% and R$13 Caipirinhas could have had something to do with it. Taxis on New Year’s Eve were asking R$50 to go anywhere. People were just walking away and taking the bus.
One of the reasons I am doing business in Brazil is because Brazilians suck at marketing, management and economics. Interestingly enough there is technology infrastructure in place (which they have no clue how to use).
Keep it up Brazilians and the World Cup and Olympics will be minor blips on an investment for which you will never get a return.
