The tail doesn't wag the dog
That is precisely why these dating sites have turned to shit. Gringos keep offering girls money as soon as they start talking. Even if they are not prepagos, pretty soon after a couple of times and if somehow something happens in their life and they need money. What do you know. A regular girl just turned into a prepago! There are still some regular girls but it's getting fewer and far between. Dating sites are not the way to get regular girls anymore.
These sites have been inundated with pros since around 2008. Gringos offering money and buying gifts started first, in person, and this caused the women to hit the internet and flock to these sites over time. Some of these women are connnected all day long. A good amt of the girls are blatant pros, and the others reveal after a little time. Sorry but it is no secret. Most good girl no npros, non interesada no visa hunters just do't put themselves on the internet. This ain't the US.
My US buddies figured out they are mostly all pros in a week.
Put a profile with 2 pics that are pretty different but obviously you. Hide the uglier one. Send a stack of emails to all kinds of girls, all ages, ignore their age requirements. Mark them as favourites. Profile and email should be "serious relationship, tired of mentiras, looking for the real thing, looking to settle down, I'm a good guy treat women with respect, blah blah blah"
You will get some responses, sure.
After two weeks switch the photo to the uglier one and alter your profile and your mail to "I am coming to Colombia in a week, for a 1 week vacation, looking for a tour guide, someone fun who likes to go out and be romantic" you can even up your age by 5 years. Send to the same list of favourites.
You will get triple response for profile #2 and the girls who do respond will be the hotter ones. The response will be a phone number. Or an email address. You don't even need to ask for it. The same girls who blew you off two weeks earlier with the younge rlooming, younger aged proifle of "looking for a non pro real girl" will be ready to meet you now no questions asked.
Those girls go out with a different gringo every week. Ask them, they will tell you they have not met anyone (or they wil cop to one gringo once). Yet they have been on the site for 4 years.
Put up a slobby old man perv profile and get the same response as your good guy profile. Guess what? Your non pro looking for love,"No soy prepago" will go out with anyone, even your dog.
The CC and LAC sites are a joke for noobs looking for the real girl, non pro thrill. The 1 in 50 that are genuine are total flakes, tough nuts to crack and are not looking for a guy on a 1 week vacation. A waste of time unless you live here, speak the language and even then convincing them that you are not a monger is no easy task. They know better. Foreigner are sex tourists until proven otherwise thanks to Pirry's Sunday night show and countless foreigners here. Are you still going to plame bozos on a sex site because they offer money?
Another issue is that Medellin is loaded with charming foreigners in their late 20s early 30s who have game. The 40+ monger from Skokie just ain't the same anymore in the eyes of the non pros. The gringo boyfriend these days is actually a negative where some years ago it was fashionable.
Johnny Gault hits the nail on the head. Look at artitsyp's quote a few down. For people like us on this board who know better these sites are a frustrating crap shoot and a waste of time.
Going on my first trip ever
I am going to Barranquilla in a month, Oct11-Oct16. I read some posts on here that mentioned some great info as to what to take along with me. I didn't even consider taking a power strip to utilize one outlet for my cell to charge and laptop etc. Thanks for that heads up! I plan on taking my own shampoo etc. And securing those in ziplock bags in case they break.
I am curious most of all about how much money I should take with me and if I need to still carry US currency. When I get to the airport exit do I need to pay the taxi using peso's or can I just give us currency? I am not going to shop but to meet a girl I've talked to for the past 4 months and sightsee. We will spend most of the time in the room and doing things I want so what is an expected amount of money that I should bring? I was thinking around $400 american. Should I change it before I leave the US or change it at a bank near the hotel I am staying at? What sucks is that $50 US converts to like 89500 pesos but when I change it here I only get 75000 pesos.
Anybody with some tips or advice for my first trip would be greatly appreciated. I'm totally excited and nervous.
You really need to give us more info.

This will be your major expense if you are staying in a nice hotel. The $400 could be almost killed right then and there.
Sounds like the girl will be with you a lot of the time. That means your food bill is at the very least double than if you were solo.
Don't change your money in the USA. Use a ATM card for pesos, and also have a cash back up if you have trouble with your ATM card. Myself I always have four different ATM cards plus a cash backup, That may sound like overkill, but I have never had to call the USA, and beg for someone to send me money.
To the point, the $400 is cutting it close but possible if you don't include your hotel bill. PM me for a good hotel for around $45.
You can pay for the taxi in pesos or dollars, but it is always better to pay in local currency.
Have fun, and if the girl does not meet your expectations there is always P4P in BAQ.
For all of you Western Union Novios, Dia de Amor y Amistad is September 17th
For all of you Western Union Novios, Dia de Amor y Amistad (Colombian Valentines Day, It is a HUGE HUGE deal for them!) is September 17th. So maybe yo would like to change it up a little and get your "novias" something different and more personal instead of the usual wire transfer?
This place has nice gifts, is reliable and delivers door to door. Believe me next time you see your "novia" she won't forget it and will just about guarantee you some good nookie! Je je.
ANYBODY ELSE have some links they want to share?

Random, General thoughts and observations.
Well, I just got back from a 2-week Cali, then Sao Paulo, Brazil run.
PART 1, CALI: Girlfriend time
I spent about a week or so in Cali and for the first time ever in Colombia, I decided I was only going to be with one girl on this trip, my long time girlfriend there of almost 5 years.
I met her when she was 18 and she just keeps getting better.
Anyway, we hung out together practically the whole time in Cali. She's one of those fun, sweet girls who you can just be with and they don't bug ya.
Between exploring, boating, fishing, partying, dancing (I try jajaja) , movies, walks, family, malls, swimming, lounging, etc, etc, and of course bailando en la cama, I had the best time I've ever had in Colombia, really.
I have to say, I stopped by one day at Dr Amor, as I happened to be walking by there, by myself.
I know the guys and lady managers that run the place, said my holas, and sat on one of the sofas for the presentations of the chicas.
Man that place has lots of chicas, I think there was about 40 of them that day.
Anyway, of course there was a little hottie I liked, and I took her to the more private area were you can talk with them a bit.
I have to say I was tempted, she was pretty cute, but again my girlfriend was just a couple blocks away, waiting patiently for me.
I had to make a decision; jump in the sack with this chica for a qucikie, or stick to my vow and go have great GF love with my girl waiting. I chose the latter, giving the little cutie from Dr Amor a little propina for her time and leaving for my girlfriend.
Great decision, as of course she gives me the real love sex as opposed to the boom boom, see ya sex.
Anyway, I had a great time in Cali, seeing the city and it's outlying areas in a different light and not just chasing tail.
It's nice to be with a girl who you know is really into you and not just looking for your loot.
PART 2, SP BRAZIL: Fun
Well I know SP very well, and I don't want to give a full Brazil report here on the Colombian forum, but let me tell you my general observations.
I believe the Colombianas to be the hottest looking chicas on the planet (well maybe tied with the Venezolanas, but of course that country is dicked up at the moment), but let me tell ya, you just cannot beat the Brasileiras for pure sexual energy, they are a special breed for sure.
In Cali I was the monogamous lover, in Brasil my phone was ringing off the hook as I have cultivated many friendships there over the years.
There is an area I visit in Brazil, away from tourists, that is similar to a Mayorista in Medellin, however, (John Gault please close your eyes and visualize this), instead of maybe 80-90 percent Fuglyies like at the Mayo, this place is more like 80 percent hot, which makes it very difficult to select. Sometimes I wish I were more than one guy so I could have more fun in one day, no kidding.
To make it even better, I think I'm the only gringo these girls have ever seen.
I'm like a celebrity haha.
Away from Rio or SP, this place, at least for now, is Ricker's hideaway.
I'm sure some Gringo will eventually discover this place and post about it and Frank Cassio will buy an apartment there haha, but for now it's a treasure.
A little variety is the spice of life.

But, I'm reminded of the old commercial for the Almond Joy candy."Some times you want a nut, and sometimes you don't." Like my old grand pa once told me."Boy, I don't care how good looking she is, there's some dude that gets tired of fucking just her." Or, put another way, you may have a Ferrari, but that doesn't mean you don't like to take another car for a little spin on occasion. We will all agree that there is nothing better than sex with someone you love and vice versa.
