Stopped by Manhattan on Thursday evening without much expectation, but "hope" as always. Just walk around and look for massage places that have multi-colored lighted signs and girls in short skirts and stockings in the window waving you in. It is literally impossible for a westerner not to get HE in one of these places.
I do recommend avoiding the corner of Pudong Nan and Weifang, the three that are right together on the north east corner are ripoffs based on my limited experience. I am a regular at the one near the north west corner next to the DVD store, talent is not that hot but you can get what you want there.
There are also some really cheap places but it's way downmarket and maybe not right for everyone.

Whether it was 300 or 3000, it was a great experience and it's just chips. I wasn't going to lose face in front of my colleagues and his guests who were high powered government people. But I think Starbucks is more of a crapshoot than the streets outside. And thet may be outright freebies rather than WGs or civilian semi-pros.
Regarding the semi-pros outside, you don't have to recognize them. They approach you if you are walking alone. I am a laowai so I don't know if the same would apply to Chinese guys. And I can tell you that black or Indian guys will have a much harder time finding this. Anyway. There are basically two types.
