Yeah we probably should do follow-up questions about Phnom Penh over in the Cambodia thread, not here in Bangkok. Not nearly as much to do or see there daytime as in BKK, but a few things definitely very worth checking out (highlights: S-21 prison, royal palace, art museum, etc... best would be side trip to Angkor for a few days, which is amazing).

this is the story that i encountered last march 12 at bkk.

That would be opening a huge can of worms for this forum. Fast Edd, Im sure you realise how many threads there are in the china forum alone. Now, maybe shanghai or Beijing, might be a bit more sensible; at least practical.

in ne brazil, this has been going on for a while to unsuspecting mongerers. there, the sting is usually with real, but corrupt cops, who threaten jail or a$$ whuppin' or both in exchange for money. the problem is exacerbated by 1) being a newbie and not speaking the language, 2) going to an unfamiliar motel to romp, and 3) being really drunk.

solution: be vigilant! have your own love motels picked out beforehand. try to make sure she is of age (with id). make friends with security wherever you go to screw (b/c they will throw her a$$ on the street quick). and never ever let the chica use her cell phone while with you--i dont care if she has 3 kids at home...especially if you dont speak the language.

i've never been to se asia, but having been to brazil and dr over 15 times, i imagine all these corrupt b*stards are the same. and with dateline nbc "predator stings" getting more popular here in the us, i am surprised we dont hear more about these scams. i say be careful fellas!

several friends have advised me how to beat traffic tickets. now you are telling me to let the customs guys have it and they will lay off me. well, i have my first court date on a recent speeding ticket and i have asked the court to make the cop produce permits to stake out an area. inspection cert that the radar gun was accurate and about 15 others things. i fear the judge, and in your case the customs officer if i take your guidance, will look at me like i am a wise ass and throw the book at me... will advise how it all plays out.

i heard about these scams in ne brasil cities, especially such as manaus, and also in bahia ect, but have not actually know any one who ran into these scams in all these years in and out of brasil. i think its still quite rare, and with some caution it can be avoided.


do you remember there was a case of an accused german **** who mysteriously died in jail while in custody in northeastern city of udon thani in thailand not long ago. i heard from a long time expat in udon when i was there a while ago, he said it was most likely a police scam gone bad, and the uniform guys had to shut him up-dead man don't talk strategy again. a very popular strategy to foreigners in thailand from the authority. thats why the case was hurriedly closed without any autopsy or inquiry into his death.


in ne brasil, i think the scam mostly involve fake cops, but in thailand, it can be much more dangerous, because a whole gang of real cops can be involved, and they would probably do anything if the scam has gone sour.

Do I have to book accom for 2 people or just one (I'm planning on girl company in my hotel room each night).

Big Yuley, I guess you really have not been reading the forum. All of your questions have been answered over and over and over again. You just have to do a bit of searching to find the answers.

People here do want to be friendly and helpful, but it is expected that you would have done a bit of research first and then maybe asked some specific questions based upon that research. For instance you could have narrowed down the hotel choices to some specifics and then you might have been able to ask some more specific questions.

And if you really read the forum you would see there has been an ongoing discussion about new members coming on and asking questions that would be answered if they just RTFF. Unfortunately you just walked into the crossfire.
