Hilton, Almirante, Hotel Dann?[/QUOTE]One thing I've done in Cartagena is take girls to Las Dunas, which is a upscale 'love motel' between the airport and the old city. I don't think this option has made it into the "Cartagena Lists" section yet.

It's a well-kept and safe place. A "Suite Especial" runs about $30,000 COP (current about $12.33 USD) for 2 hours. Plus cab fare. This sort of suite typically has a big mirror over the bed and some hardware for sitting the chica down in different positions. Shower. Bathroom. Not many apartments or upscale hotels in Cartagena are outfited with a big mirror above the bed; it's a nice touch when the girl is blowing you crazy and you're just enjoying the vista.

Keeping the girl out of your hotel gives you some options in terms of hitting on non-pro girls in Cartagena. It's much easier to flirt with the reception girls if you appear to be a non-sex tourist. Your stuff is generally safer if you can keep the sex worker out of your hotel room. A little Spanish, a nice hotel and the apperance being a straight American dude have worked very well for me with non-pros.

Using the suites, no one gives me the eye or beats me up over extra charges in hotels. It also gives a option for a private place to take a non-pro who does not want to appear like a sex worker.

It also helped to move my center of attention out of Laguito/Bocagrande, which has paid off well for me.

Anyway, I've had good luck with making this motel part of my routine in Cartagena and thought I'd toss it out there. The address for Las Dunas is Canapote, Carrera 17 No 62-19. Most cab drivers should know the way without the full address.

Hoser[/QUOTE]The Cartagena Hilton is not the place to bring a working girl.They will make it uncomfortable and if she is too outrageous probably she will not get in.I have been going to Laguito for 4 years and use their ATM at least 7 times a trip and the guard has stopped me on occasion to wand me.High class Colombians are their main patrons and they do not appreciate the ho's and gringos.I have stayed once and it is way overpriced for the area.I would try another hotel if an apartment is not wanted.

if not then hilton will not let you bring anyone in (sometimes you can sneak them in during the day, but no way at night)

almirante charges $40 a night for a guest.

hotel dann or las velas as it was called is right by hollywood beach. no problems with guests but guest fee varies depending on their mood.

i read somewhere that the pool is being fixed which is their best feature. and if you go the beach, i am sure that the mafia crackhead tony will certainly impress your novia. i am sure he will be happy to help your novia make some extra money when you are not around. crackhead and his gang are mafia. i have met two of his bosses. they go in and out of jail for stealing from tourists on the beach there. crackhead is well known for the **** chicas he provides. and some american tourists have been blackmailed over the **** chicas. needless to say, i would stay away from las velas.

For $10-$20, you get a luxury room at Haiba or Dunes. (see my reports quoted below). No hassle, no danger, no harm to privacy.

Most friendly, staff and other guests alike.

But I would agree its overpriced.

[/quote]sorry to say treeshark but i think you have totally lost it!. as i have posted before, and i do know tony very well, he is far from being associated with any type of organized crime, and i have never heard of him stealing anything from anyone. actually he is quite the opposite when it comes to watching your belongings. he might overcharge for his services, and he can be a real pain in the ass, but he will never take any of your property. infact, one of the things i like most about tony is the fact i can go out in the ocean and i know my things will be safe. not sure what type of person you are, or who the hell has provided you this information but it is not accurate. i am curious as to how your spanish speaking skills are? i only ask because i am thinking maybe you have interpreted something that might have been said wrong.

this tony thing has been posted and talked about on numerous occasions, including not that long ago, people enjoy him, or they seem to hate him. i find him to be rather amusing, entertaining, and comical, as well as being a pain in the butt. the beach is his livelihood, and he works it hard. you cannot blame him for that, as it pays his rent, puts food in his mouth, and takes care of all his responsibilities and habits he might have. i give the guy credit for not just sitting on his ass. if he was such a mafioso, why the fuck would he be working the beach?. lastly, if he was such this awful person, why do so many people who go to the beach in cartagena ask for him?. there is not another hussler on the beach who has such a following as tony does. there is a reason for this, and it is not because he is a mafioso or stealing from others.

While I have not yet had a problem with him, I still do not trust him as far as I could throw him. I have also heard about some guy having his drink spiked and being rolled for some several hundreds of thosand pesos.

In 2007, there was an incident where two guys from Puerto Rico staying at the Hotel Dann were falsely accused of having cocaine by one of Tony's girls. they had to pay off the cops 1,000,000 COP in order to get out of jail.

every trip there is always Tony trying to overcharge for beers also. I take that part of it in stride because I do not drink too much, but somehow 3 beers X 2000 cop equals 8000 or 10000 COP in tony's form of multiplication. Sometimes I say Fuck You heres 6000 cop, or sometimes It is not worth even mentioning.

There is numerous stories about guys ending up with 100000 or even 200000 COP tabs. Then scenes are created, with eventually the newbie standing down and getting ripped off.

While treeshark may or may not be exaggerating, to think that Tony is a wonderful guy and trustworthy makes me wonder if the person saying these glowing things about " fuck you, buy me a beer, lend me 100000 COP" Tony has lost it?

I tend to based on what treeshark states and what others have stated, watch Tony like a hawk, never drink much at all, and only bring a minimal amount of money with me to the beach at any time. Does and can Tony offer a valuable service? yes he can, but watch your ass.
