My point is that if you bring a streetwalker or a mini skirted silicone sister from LDV you might encounter some problems. Personally I don't need the added stress of worrying if I can get a girl into a overpriced room when there are alternatives.

It ain't rocket science. Just take the guy for what he is.

He's helpful if you need him, just let him know up front what you'll be paying, that you won't be fooled or ripped off and he works just fine.

Will he take advantage of the the unexpecting? Of course.

He'll charge whatever he can get away with.

He can, however, be useful if needed.

There's a guy like him in every town in South America. Period.

The massage girls are very sneaky and also need to be watched, especially if they work in groups. They will try to upsell you and then will quote outrageous prices like $ 40000 cop, give them no more than 10K, 15K tops. And get the price up front.

I made the mistake once of have one of them gave me a message, then her friend kept bothering me to give her a pedicure. There was no fucking way I was going to risk a pedicure with unsanitary conditions. Then another group of majasitas came over and gave the girl that was giving me a message a real hard time threatening her and making a lot of noise, so finally I got up out of the chair and got right into the face of the leader of the group. I was pissed beyond belief.

I am sure the cops that work the beach all know Tony and get a propina from him. No doubt. After seeing what the two Puerto ricans went through in 2007.

Lets not kid ourselves, the people who work the beach do not see us as people, but as banks.

And once you befriend one, like buying the cheap jewelry, they will swarm you like locusts.

Is there some hotels that has a "private" part of the beach, that the touts can't enter?

I would gladly pay a entrancefee, if this is possible.

Ken Apples[/QUOTE]There are no private beaches. However, the beach behind Playa Mar in Laguito is much more quiet as is the Hilton beach. The beach along Castillo Grande is quiet as well.

Ken Apples[/QUOTE]Yes, the hotel "Las Americas" has a private beach, and yes you can buy a day pass to use the beach and facilities which include the swimming pools. Fee also includes lunch and 2 free drinks. The hotel is on the other side of the airport from Bocagrande.

The Hilton security guards do keep the touts away.

Pretty much every beach that does not run along Bocagrande or the west end of Laguito is relatively tout-free.

I am not familiar with the beaches past the airport.

But as soon as I stepped out of the Hilton and onto the sand I was swarmed by touts, guys were trying to sell me boat trips, offering me all sorts of services and one woman started rubbing her greasy massage cream on my arm. Meanwhile an inept looking guy in a blue security uniform just stood there doing nothing. Maybe I just picked a bad day to go.

Went out to Pleyboy and stopped in the casas that are also located in that general area. Pleyboy had alot of quality girls, most I spoke to were from Medellin. However, I arranged to meet a feisty and beautiful morena from Cali after she got off of work. Price was never discussed, but I did give her 100,000 pesos moments ago when I walked her out to the taxi. She was very grateful for that, and actually asked me for my contact info. I definitely want to see her again. She has a great attitude and was so much fun, not to mention her beauty was stunning to say the least. Rocio had by far the most quality girls of the casas. I also made it out to the black delicioso area. I do not advise going out to this barrio unless you are with a Colombiano or have the look of one, and speaking spanish is a must. Most of the discos are small, and most are set up where you have to sit at a table. I am one who likes to walk around and stand up at the bar. All in all I like this area because it gets me away from the tourist traps, and I am able to meet quite a few girls who have not met anyone other than Colombianos in the lives. Your peso also goes alot further as beer and drink prices are a quarter of what you would be paying in the Tu Candelas, LDV's, e.c.t. You can also buy yourself a bottle of liquor instead of just buying individual drinks in this area, which makes it much more cost effective. In my tour of bars/discos I also went to the Getsemani area. Checked out several of the bars including Havana. Nothing really special to speak of.
After I left Pleyboy, my night in the bars was basically all about talking to the chicas, and seeing if it was possible if I could get them to go with me based on conversation and game, even though I knew it would take an exceptional girl to take me away from meeting the chica from Pleyboy. It was also a back up plan if the girl from Pleyboy did not come through, I at least had some telephone numbers to call.

I am really not into writing this post right now, so I will try to add to it later, as I am tired, feeling still buzzed from the Old Pa Whiskey, as well as being hungover all at the same time. I was suppose to go to Cali this morning but could not bring myself to go to the airport, so I am going to take a later flight. Will be there only for a couple of days, as I have a trip booked to Thailand on February 11th, departing from the U.S. It is now time to go and get an order of camarón con arroz from Julias restaurant at the bottom of the apartments, Edificio Marinare, and take it back to my apartment. For those that like great food at a reasonable price you should check it out. I mentioned this place previously, and I know Tom33 did as well. Probably will not make it back to Cartagena until possibly the end of June, and I say possibly, because I am looking at going to Guayaquil, Ecuador, and Venezuela during this same time period with another member of the forum, so we will see what happens. If I do come back I will spend 2 or 3 weeks here, and a week to 10 days in Santa Marta/Rodadero. I advise anyone who has extra time to go and checkout Santa Marta/Rodadero. The beaches are very beautiful, and there are many things to do during the daytime hours. It would also be a great place to go if you meet a chica in Cartagena that you are really attracted to, and want to spend some quality time with. I can promise you, she would be very happy to accept your invitation to go to Santa Marta/Rodadero. There are several van pools that will pick you up in front of your apartment/hotel in Cartagena, and it is about a 4 to 4.5 hour ride. The cost is about $40.00 dollars I believe. If you do go, I highly recommend you take her to Parque Tayrona by boat (launcha) departing from a small village called Taganga.

Hey Urban,

I don't know if you remember me but you provided some very useful information on the Hotel Dona Susana and I had a pleasant stay there last June (2008). I know I and many other appreciate your posts on the Colombia and PVR forums and hope you won't leave the PVR board. I hope to catch you down there on one of your trips in the future. Its not my rule or the forum's rule that good deeds go unapreciated, but it is Life's Rule. This kind of endeavor makes for fast quick friends and thats what you get.

Any suggestions for a Captain who has a boat we can charter for the day for some non-stop partying? We are planning to visit Playa Blanca and the nearby islands and have heard the way to go is our own boat. Also, would you recommend that we bring some of Cartagena's finest ladies along? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
