Try it, you'll like it. I can't remember the exact price but it was relatively cheap and had a very large variety of food. The proof was that it was always full of locals from offices in the area.
Thai people have no palate, it's far from being a reference when it comes to food. They go where it's cheap.
Look at Sizzler, Bad food but it's always full.
I was quite impressed by the quality of the food. They BBQ fresh satay outside and have lots of salads. Anyway, I liked it but what do I know? I don't have the highly evolved taste buds of the French.
I have stayed at the GM a number of times when their was a WOTIF Mystery deal (special thanks to the now disappeared BARKO for his help). I seriously doubt the one you refer to is the GM. In the past the Mystery deal always referred to the hotel being close to BTS AND MTR (the subway) (which it is). I've never stayed at the Jasmine Hotel to give you a comparison!
I remember Barko from my trip a few years back. I wish he was still around. Wotif probably gave him enough to retire on. Or at least they should have.
I am not a fan of Buffet to begin with, but a 300 thb buffet? No way in the world that can be good.
It is a bit daring to compare a 2700thb buffet with a 300 one. I can well imagine they give you lot back. Pity a HE is not included, as it should. I ain't a cheap Charlie and I do enjoy good food and don't mind paying for it, even if I am not french. But I know how to compare and rate the quality vs. Price ratio. Surely the meat at MG will not be new Zealand prime beef, but it won't be Kobe steak at SGS. How can you eat meat that it is not Kobe's? On principle buffet cannot be rated top cuisine, but fit many purposes. One is to have a selection of food you like without bothering ordering something you will not like. You taste it at the Buffett and if you like it, get more.
Doing it the Asian way: salad, fruit, steak, egg, watermelon all on top of each other, will not do good too.
Isn't the MTR in Hong Kong? BKK has the MRT.
Also Singapore has MRT. London has it too, they just call it different, the tube LOL. Maybe Paris doesn't, seen their hate for any non French word.
Ok so I decided I'd rather stay very near cowboy. Does anyone know if the 2999 mystery deal in November on wotif is the GM? How do the two compare?
Thanks again
I stay in the Jasmine on occasion, Usually the one up near Suk 71 It's the Jasmine Resort, It's nice I'd compare it to the Fraser on Sathon Road.
I am not a fan of Buffet to begin with, but a 300 thb buffet? No way in the world that can be good.
The Buffet I like to go to is the Brunch at SGS; Yes it's expensive (2, 700 thb) but the food is of great Quality, they have fresh imported Duck Liver (seared in front of you) and imported Meat and cheeses (not the tasteless Aussie or Danish versions). Oh, and unlimited Booze too.
And I imagine that Bill Gates and Warren Buffet join you regularly for your sumptious feasts. Hahahaha!
For that kind of dough I can have 4 blowjobs followed by a delicious New York Strip steak dinner with all the trimmings at a decent restaurant in Pattaya, but what the hell; if you've got it, spend it. Yet even if I had it, I'd feel guilty spending almost $90 USD for lunch.

Frozen, travelled, unfrozen and then cooked. No way.
The lunch buffet goes at 300b. Whilst the BBQ dinner buffett runs at 600/660 (I can't recall now) , including one drink (local beer draft glass or a glass of wine). If the lunch / dinner buffets are at the same level of hte brakfast, I can say it is very acceptable. Ideal for the lazy ones not willing to go out for lunch after a night out.
I do recall Majestic G had a quite acceptable breakfast, but may have terminated a bit early.
Usually my measure of the worth of a buffet, is going to revolve around how good the seafood is, since if I am going to pig out a bit, I obviously want non-fattening seafoods, like nice sashimi, unfortunately I am somewhat allergic to prawns (at least the prawn farm ones. Probably too much chemicals) , but nice fish and shellfish impress me. Okay some very nicely roasted (rare) beef, duck or lamb would have me interested, a good variety of green vegs, and plain salads. Might be hard to meet these standards for just 300 Baht. So I suspect I would rather just have a simple lunch.
Generally, I don't go in for buffets unless quality is superior. Eating food has to be about great taste, healthy, and not really the quantity. I am dropping the kilos, so low on simple carbohydrates. I eat only brown whole grain rice now. I can eat fatty meat and still lose weight without a problem, but am a bit bored with pork and chicken since Thailand has so much of that to eat every day.

A case of writing with "Eyes Wide Shut". Correct! MRT!

Thanks again
I am quite sure the GM is under the 3200 Baht Mystery deal as it matches the room size of 38sqm and other descriptions. I am waiting another month to book (try the first night to make sure) either the 3200 Mystery deal OR the Aloft (love the location). Pity the Aloft has gone of the mystery deals. The 3200 baht mystery deal can't be seen this month. You have to go forward in time. Check from December 12 onwards.
If you don't mind, please share the result in case you made a mystery booking, I'll do the same.

Sure, I don't fork 3k every meal but sometimes I like to. I'm not the Cheapy-pipi food stall plastic chair sitting type of guy but I understand there are people who like that.
