My deepest sympathy for all the People who lost beloved once in this stupid blast.
I think it might have a big impact on tourism action and maybe we also have to be more careful in our mongering.

I am staying at the Holiday Inn Bangkok and arrive at 2 am and the bomb went off at around 7 pm. When I arrived there was police presence and the street has been cleaned up. They have barricade on the main road but they let cars in. When my taxi arrived at the hotel, they were sweeping the underside of the taxi for bombs. This is really scary, the street is deserted. I was going to visit Miix but the surrounding area is so quiet that I don't think I will get out of the hotel.
I haven't been to BKK in several years but was hoping we could put together a top ten (or something less than 10) list on the following topics. I will give my limited knowledge but would love to hear from people, if possible:
1) Best Massage / Soapy Places.
I have only been to two.
One was Annies and it was pretty good. The girls probably are no higher than 7's.
The other was the Angelina. It was also OK. Girl was up for A. But didn't have a lot of girls to choose from.
2) Soi Cowboy Bars:
At one point or another I have been in them all, but my two favorites are:
Baccara.
AfterSkool.
Although not technically in Soi Cowboy, there is an interesting BDSM bar called Damiana where I have taken girls back to my hotel.
Good variety at both.
3) Nana Bars.
Same thing here, been in most of them but have had my best luck / fun at:
Rainbow 2.
Wild Thing (I think that was the name);.
4) Escort Services / Freelancers:
I haven't used any yet, but it would would be great if people could list their favorites along with contact information.
5) "Private" Clubs.
The only one I have been to is Soprano House. Very cool place to hang. Not sure if the ladies are available for take out. Fun time.
Hoping to check out Pegasus the next time around.
Honorable Mention (not "Private".
The Disco at the Ambassador Hotel.
6) Best Blowjob Bar.
Again, Haven't tried any but it would be great to hear suggestions.
I am definitely not an authority on BKK. But, if anyone needs info about Costa Rica or Rio, hit me up. I hope people list their favorites here. I will be in BKK for a few days in October and would love to try something new and different.
I think it might have a big impact on tourism action and maybe we also have to be more careful in our mongering.
You might be right that this terrorist act will have an impact on Thai tourism, but I hope not. Prior to this heinous act, there probably was no safer place to be in BKK than the Erawan Shrine. The only way to be "more careful" is to stay home with the doors locked and the windows shut and not travel anywhere, even to your local mega mall, let alone to Thailand, Indonesia, or the PI, which is something I will not even consider. I will be in BKK in Sept / Oct and back again in Feb / March. I don't give a shit. I ain't backing down. I am going to live my life the way I want to. Fuck these deranged terrorist cowards. And my heart goes out to the families of the murdered victims.
Prior to this heinous act, there probably was no safer place to be in BKK than the Erawan Shrine
I often stay at Grande Centrepoint, next to Peninsula Plaza and walk to Central, Siam Paragon and / or MBK. Several years back was on 3 month assignment with Mrs. Altogether, estimated I've walked by the Shrine over 100+ times in the past 5 years. This absolutely blows my mind.
Pure speculation at this time to the actual culprits and their objectives but they are sick cowards that should be hung by their balls!
When my taxi arrived at the hotel, they were sweeping the underside of the taxi for bombs. This is really scary
They've been doing that in Indonesia for over 10 years. They started it after the bali bombings and continue it to this day. It's not scary. It's scary if they don't do it. Those bombings only happen at times when nobody is suspecting anything and there is no security at all. Those bombers are complete cowards.

Of course your probability of being unlucky is very low but consider inconvenience of road closures too.
I like to be close to Asoke Sukhumvit intersection but not too close. In a minor Soi is better and prefer to be on the Phrom Phong side of Asoke if possible.
This bombing was on one corner of one intersection that affected people in the immediate vicinity at 6:55 pm on a random night in a huge city. Walk past at 6:54 pm you avoid it. If you were due to walk past at 6:56 pm you would have avoided it. Altering behavior because of this is an overreaction. 80 people die everyday on Thai roads. I am happy to take my chances on the roads.
Unless they quickly figure the bomb was home grown, anyone planning to fly out in the near future might be wise to add a little buffer to their airport arrival time. I was in town when the Iranians put the BANG in Bangkok a few years ago and the line to passport control was epic. In truth I had a bit of a perfect storm: They were still looking for the terrorists who did not help like the one who blew some limbs off, and there was a Emirates flight departing around the same time as mine. Thais, and a lot of other people (think "The Arab's Bars" on SC), don't differentiate between Iranians and Arabs, so the majority of the Emirates passengers were one step short of a full body cavity search. I, on the other hand, was through the booth in a minute once I got there.
I was staying at the Nana Hotel and left yesterday morning and am in Pattya, heard about the bomb last night while watching TV.
Can anyone one report as to how the bomb affected the immediate area around the Nana Hotel parking lot last night and today?
I hope The Thai's catch the infidels that did this and have just heard a second bomb went off at a pier in town.

Gentlemen, could we keep this useless Thai Visa dribble to that web site. I come here to read and post about mongering. If you can't refrain then there is a politics and general thread that I suspect Jackson set up for this very reason. Anyways, Craigs list hook up.
Just a heads up guys. 90% of the girls on CL are being pimped out by a guy from Holland and his Thai wife. They take half the girls money for organizing the date with the customer. Most of the girls are very high mileage and are not worth it. On the other hand I had a decent experience wit this one last night. 4 K from 8 PM-4 AM multiple shots and decent massage. This may be a rarity so play CL with caution. Her pimp advertises her as 29 but she is 37. Photoshopped face but her body is still very nice.
