Science is as much about science as it is about art.
Let's not forget that this is an opinion piece. For one thing it contains serious 'allowances'. Presuming that "anything inconsistent with an evolutionary origin has to be man-made" is ludicrous. There are inconsistences in the theory of evolution that can't be explained outright.
But let's presume the virus did escape from the laboratory. Does it prove a malicious intent or cover up? Only in the same delusional mindset that still believes in the "election steal" after dozens of recounts and court cases have proven it to be a lunacy.
Not everything in science is clear cut. Scientist make mistakes all the time. But assigning malicious intents to a world-class scientist like Dr. Fauci tells more about crackpots who sling those moronic allegations than Fauci.
Not to say we don't need to investigate. We do, but it's got to be a scientific probe, not political.
Which is a wishful thinking, I know.
"They told the world that the Covid-19 virus clearly couldn't have been manipulated in the laboratory. But what they actually thought at first sight was that it had been.
The letter from five virologists published in Nature Medicine on March 17,2020, was the single most influential statement in capturing the public narrative about the origin of SARS-CoV-2. Here was an authoritative statement from leading experts assuring the public that in terms of the virus's origin "we do not believe that any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible. "
Independent investigation by several countries

Which is a wishful thinking, I know.
There needs to be an investigation by several countries not just Biden cronies. If Biden staff investigates China will be cleared of all wrong doing. There is no proof that it was malicious but I think an investigation might prove it was. It appears now that Dr Fauci is one of those crackpots. I think the investigation will prove malicious intent. Even the democratic university scientists from Stanford and other big name colleges are calling for full investigation into Fauci. About time.
