I just got back from Cartagena nailed some really nice looking ones and never paid that much.Where were you?I seemed to be the only Gringo on the beach or at the LDV.Ran into a couple Gringo's at Tu Candelas.

Hollywood beach is like a sand blaster on windy days. The winds were so high that entering the water was prohibited for several days. I never went there, either.

I mostly hung out at my "office" in front of Playa Mar in Laguito. I spent a lot of time visiting with old friends.

Cartagena has its fair share of hassles, believe me.

But being pitched 500k is easily avoidable. Simply don't ask how much they want. It's an invitation that you may not know the usual prices, and they should try and gouge you.

Instead, tell them what you want to pay.

Establish a rapport with the girl first (drinks, dancing, chat). Then give her an offer about what you want to do: "I would like you to come with me to my apartment in Laguito. I have some drinks back at my place (rum, vodka.) or you can smoke a joint. I want you to stay about an hour and a half. I am offering 100k pesos and will also pay your taxi after you leave my place. I'm a calm and relaxed person and will make sure you're comfortable with me".

Something like the above (alter it to suit your circumstances). I sometimes pull them out of LDV a bit earlier, then offer to escort them to the door of Elektra after we're done. Make the offer attractive to the girl and she will more likely say yes.

Now if the guy happens to be an unattractive person, maybe that explains getting way higher quotes. Girls won't say no outright, they'll just quote a high rate. If you suspect this, find someone who understands colombianas and ask them if you're giving off bad vibes.

Just returned from a business trip that included stops in Bogota and Cartagena.

As background, I lived in Costa Rica for two years and I have been to Colombia several times. But I'd never been to Cartagena. Based on what I read, I was very excited about Cartagena, but unfortunately was dissappointed in the trip.

First for the positives. The weather was great, no nearly as hot and humid as I had been led to believe. The Hilton Hotel was excellent. The Old City in El Centro was one of the most beautiful, enchanting places I've visited.

Now for the negative. Where were all the beautiful girls I'd heard about? I did not go everywhere, but I'll report on the few places I went:

1. Playa Bocagrande: Bocagrande beach was awful! Way too many super aggressive beach vendors and no chicas! The only bright spot on the beach was finding the area populated by the famous "Tony" and his minions. Tony provides a valuable service, but is a hustler, so be careful with your money. I had Tony bring over 2 girls he promised would be 10s but they were only 8s, so I passed. Price quoted was $100 each.

2. Pley Club: This is a nude strip joint in a bad part of town. Overall, the best talent I found. Several 8s and a couple of 9's. Unfortunately, we decided to wait to see what to see La Dolce Vida, so decided to pass. Never went back. Big mistake. Don't remember the price, but I think is was $50 to the house and $100 for the girl.

3. La Dolce Vida: Way overrated. First, the place is absolutely empty until about 11:00 and really doesn't start rolling until midnight. Super loud music, so talking is impossible. Has the feel of a Jr. High Dance with men sitting at the tables and women sitting at the bar just looking at each other. No flow. Uncomfortable approaching women. The Del Rey in San Jose, is much much better. Talent level was O. K. , but not nearly as good as advertised. The girls ranged from 6 to 8. 5. In two nights there, really never saw a 9. Ended up taking an 8. 5 from Medellin back to the hotel. $100. Good service.

4. Massage Parlors: One afternoon decided to see the massage parlors. Big Mistake. Had a taxi take me to the best in town, after walking in and out of 4 parlors, headed back to the first one and bedded a weak 7. The cost was only $50, but barely doable.

5. El Centro Bars: Hit several of the El Centro bars I'd read about including Tu Candela and others. Again, talent was weak and not many girls.

5. Street Scene: Good. Lots of pretty girls, especially if you like dark skin. My best experience came on my last day. It was an introduction by a cabi to an 18 yr old university student. A true 9 spinner. She spent the entire day with me and never asked for money. Give her $100 anyway. Wish I would have met her on the first day!

Final analysis. For fun, I like the Del Rey / Key Largo in San Jose Costa Rica much more. For pure talent, I find Medellin to be much better. However, the old city is enchanting and for that reason I will return. But next time, I'll pass on the bars and the gringo hangouts and have the cabbies and doorman help with my social activities. There are beautiful girls in Cartagena, you just have to know how to find them!

Thank you UrbanWildlife for the clarification and valuable additional info. My last experience with Juan was very positive. For my upcoming trip I have organised one of Dave Jones's apartments so I will comment on my experience with his service when I write up my trip report.

I was put off Mery by the tone of her emails and the fact that she only offered one apartment to me and she had no photos and was asking a higher price than Juan and Dave. Additionally there seems to be a lot of negative feedback about her throughout this forum. I am sure that plenty of fellas have had positive experiences with her but I prefer to err on the cautious side.

Your floating orgy sounds great. Are you planing to be in Cartagena around July?

I just missed you in Cartagena. I like you went to all those places. The LdV varied night to night. It was hard to find anything better than 8. 5. My last two nights however I ran into about 10 girls than were 9 plus and a couple tens. All the girls leave the LDV about 1 am and go to Tu Candelas and Electra. Isis and Pleyboy are owned by an American in Texas. There is 25 girls that work in these bars, they live in the same house, and the managers "cambio" the girls from Pleybot to Isis. I went to both several times. Pleyboy is a dive. Isis is much nicer and has the better looking ones. The girls that work at Isis and Pleyboy have to be back at the House about dark each evening but freelance during the day for 100k pesos or so.

Just got back from my second trip to Cartagena. Overall had a very good time, but have to say that my first trip was better. A little bit about me: Have made several trips to Colombia and Venezuela, Spanish is just so-so, early 30’s, usually travel alone.

I think my first trip to Cartagena was better because I traveled in early February, when most of the college aged women were on vacation. I tend to prefer meeting non-pros at the bar or beach and usually do pretty well. If that doesn’t pan out, then I go for the pros. Not tryin to say I’m better than anyone who only deals with pros, I just prefer non-pros and the thrill of the chase. Also, the risks involved with pro’s weirds me out a little bit. Last trip the bars and beaches were full on normal girls, even during the week, so it made for a lot of opportunity. Also, because I traveled alone, I didn’t really have an agenda of what I was going to do, which I think is a good thing because in Cartagena it seems like good things happen to you when you are just walking around the old city or drinking a beer at one of the plazas.

This trip was a bit different, as I traveled with a couple of friends. I also lined up about 12 girls from the net. I ended up meeting about 6-7 of them, and only landed one of them in bed, which was a pathetic batting average in Colombia, IMHO. Most of the girls were definitely looking for something more long term. Maybe I should have been more clear about what I was looking for? If I was staying for longer or actually lived in Colombia then I can see this approach making sense, but logistically it was kind of a pain in the arss, and it was waaaay too time consuming. A couple of the college age girls did bring their friends over who were really cool and all of us had a good time at the beach, so it wasn’t a total loss. BTW- I purchased a cell phone at Olympica supermarket for $30, which proved to be invaluable. I later sold it on the street for $15. The bars on the weekend were definitely full, but there were VERY few women who were not there with guys, even in Tu Candela and Mr. Babillas. I mean, there were a few pros and a non-pros in Tu Candela, but that was about it. Ditto for the beach. Still had a good time at the bars and beach, but clearly not a good option this time. So my friends and I went to a few of the cat houses in el centro. Can’t remember the names except for Queens. They seemed to be fairly similar with a variety of women in the 6-7 range, and a couple of 8’s, but nothing much better than that. Our apartment was located across the street from LDV, so this is where we usually ended up. BTW- Can’t say enough good things about the apartment: great view, 2 balconys, 3 bedroom, clean and modern interior, full kitchen, AC worked perfect, great manager, and great price for 3 people. And at LDV, quality varied a lot. Seems like you just need to hang out there for awhile to find something that interests you, as the girls seem to come and go frequently. A lot of the girls asked for 250-300k and wouldn’t budge! I can understand this price if you look like Hugh Hefner or are just plain nasty, but I’m def not in those categories. Regardless, this is an insane price in Colombia! I was ableto get one girl as low as 70k ($30) for an hour. I got another two for 150k ($60) each for an hour. Two of the girls were kind of cold, but one was more into the sex than I was. LOL. The pro's were fun, but I think that Rio was better for pro's, as there was a wider variety of working women at more places (everywhere. LOL).

The city is still beautiful, especially at night. The people are still very friendly, and Cartagena is still a great value. My plane ticket was $450, apartment was $470 for a week, and food was relatively cheap. I would possibly return to Cartagena, but only during a busier time. I was told that I missed Semana Santa by a week! I think maybe Medellin or possibly Barranquilla and Santa Marta would be better spots for non-pro action. Any thoughts about these locations for non-pro action? I have hesitated to go to Medellin previously because I think I might get board during the day without a beach. Was still a great trip and I’m definitely envious of anyone who has figured out how to live in Colombia and has a decent income. Anyone wanting info on the apartment, a good dentist, or anything else, feel free to I'm me.

Urban Wildlife's (serial antagonist ON THE GO) boat trip may be the last chance to get rid of him.

I'd like to see the Wildlife, Surfer, and those ooh-so-sensitive black mongers all lumped in a boat with a bunch of ladyboys and pushed off Cartagena city beach. If the Colombian Navy which has a base nearby could be persuaded that the boat represented a threat to the honor of Colombia and be used for target practise, then all here at ISG would breathe a sigh of relief.

Nice report Elpapi! I agree with the first trip being the best. Ditto for me. It's been 4 years since my maiden voyage and 80-100k was the going rate in '05 in LDV. My first night in there I hooked up with a chica that rocked my world all night for 80k and I have yet to find a fuck machine like her since, she set the bar high! I was there last November and it was depressing with the loud ass music and attitude of the girls who rival the Del Rey chicas with their prices and hard core tactics. OK I won't ***** no mo and remininsce, but at one time it was unreal!
