The fact that AIDS / HIV in Thailand is (relatively) low is very much due to a strong campaign (in the past) in favor of condom use. It seems that for financial reasons this campaign is not well maintained now in Thailand, because the majority of the HIV / AIDS money already goes to medical costs for people with AIDS and HIV. That is a pity and a short-sighted policy as relenting on the "use a condom" campaign will only cause a rise in infections in the coming years.
So please, don't spread the false rumour that there is no such thing as heterosexual transmission of HIV! The risk may be low, but still it caught milions of people.
