I agree 100, people can't wait to come to Thailand and when they do they stick to cheap hotels to save money and justify it to themselves by telling that the room is only to sleep. I think Quality is important in anything you do. Eating, sleeping, fucking. There has to be a minimum Standard.
Eating is not important. You can eat somewhere else. Not many hotels are really impressive for food at a very good price.
Many hotels are adequate for sleeping. Grand Millenium has great beds and great breakfast but is not always my choice. Depends on the price at the time. Dynasty Grande was a great hotel except for crap food when I stayed there. Chef had just no idea at all. Simple remedy was to eat elsewhere.
Everyone has a very different minimum standard. You can't expect everyone to adhere to your minimum standard. Some guys maximum budget is below your minimum standard. Why should we care. Each to their own. There will always people looking for a budget room well below my standard price and miles below yours. Some people want to keep their limited money for mongering.
Why do you have a problem with someone who wants a room only to sleep?
Not everything in life has equal importance and therefore need not have equal quality. Each person must prioritise what things matter the most.
Does my room have highest quality DVD player at no additional charge? The Admiral Premier has a DVD player, but who cares if I do not use it. It has a fantastic sized fridge. Useful to me but not to everyone. Its down side is the batrooms are not well designed. This could be very important to some and very unimportant to others.
Admiral Premier doesn't bat an eye when I take 3 girls to the room for sex party. Now that is what I call important.
Why do you have a problem with someone who wants a room only to sleep?
I don't, I just find it weird that someone would spend 1, 000 Euros to come all the way to Thailand and stick to Bottom-end places just to save 10 bucks.

Vacation or Monger trip?
I am really on vacation, not just here to monger (though is there a difference?) to that end I chose the Conrad Hilton. Fantastic hotel, I got points off on it and even if I paid full price this room is well worth it.

Not everyone is rich as you and have the privilege of living in BKK. And then again, some people really don't care as long as they have some decent place to stay. Clean and sober. Once you are asleep you don't really care what the thread count is, do you.

They're both in great locations near Soi Cowboy and not to far away from the monorail. They're both also very clean. I wasn't really feeling Admiral Premiers breakfast buffet which was free for guests. The mall was very far away either.
BTW. Was there any good soapy's in the area?

Fast Eddie 48
Girl Friendly?
Sorry to ask. You didn't make an explicit statement either way. I am familiar with the Tune in Kuta (Bali) and Kuala Lumpor, and found those most satisfactory.

If you want to have a good time and enjoy yourself, let loose! Save up for decent to above average hotel, don't wine about prices for girls, drinks, food, etc. Just have fun! Instead, people look for the cheapest of everything including girls!

I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I was unable to find a report on this. I have some free nights to spend at a Marriot hotel. So, does anybody can advice me what to choose between the Courtyard Marriot and the JW Marriot? Are both of them girl friendly? Which one is better located? Should I forget about the Marriot and look somewhere else? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I will be in BKK November 28-December 3.

JW is right on the corner of Soi 2, moments from Nana.
Courtyard has reports of not being GF.
JW couldn't care less.
Courtyard is a mid-level hotel, if that.
JW is top-shelf.
You don't give a budget, so it's impossible to give further advice.

Especially if the OP is a Marriott Rewards Gold or Platinum member so he would get to eat free at the Executive Lounge at the J. W. Can see Nana Plaza and the infamous parking lot from the windows of a lot of the rooms too (checkout the red Cascade sign).

President Palace Review
I stayed at the President Palace on Soi 11 for one night last week. I booked a Superior room, which is the hotel's lowest level room. It was a big room and had a big bathroom with a decent size walk-in shower (but no tub). The room was very clean, but showed some wear (some stains on the carpet, scratches on the bed frame, etc.). I paid $50 on Agoda, but that was a last minute deal; the room usually goes for about $64 on the same site. No free breakfast, but free Wifi. Ethernet cable was provided as well. For a hotel, the gym was decent: a few machines in good condition and free weights up to 20 kilograms. I was able to get an average workout there, which for is quite good when traveling. The hotel is about a 4-5 minute walk from Sukhumvit Road, about a 7 minute walk to the Beer Garden, and about a 10 minute walk from the Nana Entertainment Plaza. Overall, I would stay there again, even at the higher rate. I attach a few pictures of the room below.
