Police in Brazil has always killed with impunity.
I don't like the bandits too but honestly tell me something. If police don't follow the law and the order of the court what will stop a policeman from killing you for no reason one day?
They wouldn't probably kill a citizen (let alone gringo) for no reason, but they've never had an issue with extrajudicial killings. And knowing how corrupt they are, I have almost no doubts that the real honchos had been warned beforehand, and the bodies littering the streets of that favela are just a bunch of clueless soldiers with a few passerby's caught up in this mess for a good measure. Big success, indeed.
Pfizer vaccine against P1
I have done lots of googling and reading -- it seems Pfizer vaccine is effective on P1, and all other variants, 100% protecting from serious illness and death. Pfizer CEO said a couple of days ago that no variants found so far can escape Pfizer vaccine, though a few others have doubts. The majority of those scientists / news people seem to believe Pfizer vaccine is about the same effective on p1 and all other variants, even the new India variant.
Just FYI.
Nice set of questions. I would add, if you test positive can you afford to be stuck in Brazil for a few weeks before testing negative to fly back to your country?
Some cities are reopening because they cite decrease in number of hospital patients, not sure how they came to that conclusion when every news org says otherwise.
The numbers are off like many other countries, multiple by 1.5 x or 2 x.
My advice would be find some Brazilian pros near you. After you blow your load you will forget about going to BR LOL.
