"wrong" side is "left" for those of us accustomed to driving on the RIGHT. (Besides, it's a "play on words")
I wish the whole world would agree to drive on ONE SIDE (just pick one - whichewver doesn't MATTER)
Languages are another matter - there is no "wrong" language, it just isn't YOUR NATIVE SPEAKER LANGUAGE. Learn more - it's worth it in the end - I can do 4 "well" and 3 more "not so well". While one is at it, a bit of cultural understanding also helps tremendously
ATMs are the only way to go for BAHT - the "foreign" exchanges outside Thailand are RIP OFFS and charge about 10% MINIMUM. IF oyu MUST carry CASH, exchange it HERE (I'm in Thailand now for another week)

Therefore, in this case, he should have far less problems than those of you who dont know what a roundabout is!! :D

I was just in Bangkok for a few days and met up with a girl I email now and again at Angel Disco. She wanted to go with me for the evening and she's a hot freelancer so who am I to say no. Energizer bunnies we 2. Much like day 1 but rather than hang at BG we took our TBFN after our morning ball & went to Gullivers for lunch & pool as I had heard good things. Food was good but for 4 wanting to shoot some pool together, not. If you're a good player you might like as winner stays loser pays a few cute girls but may not have served well as a pick up joint. After Gulliver's skytrain to MBK for bowling / getting drunker. Good fun, back to hotel, girls were amazingly comfortable getting naked together & even tho we have connecting rooms getting it on all in same was fun, friends room has 2 beds but what & where ever w/these 2. Didn't puh for an overnighter w/them as there are many gogos in the hood I wanted to expose my newbie friend to. So we closed down NEP, declined albiet reluctantly to barfine some delightful ladies. We mingled w/the masses as NEP flowed outbound then up & down lower suk for a smoothie &? Back to the Nana lot, my buddie was begining to fade & started talking stupid & claiming he'd go back alone, I wouldn't hear of it we saddled up & the then closed bar kitty corner nana enjoying our smoothies were approached by many scary but some decent girls. A super freak 26 yo, black father, wild hair tiny tight bod w/hard abs got my friends interest up I was convinced by 21 yo ms. Issaan 2529, that she was an adept smoker, & she was, & off we went. Asian, I guess you didn't realize that this forum isn't actually a lot of people just talking, but we're all being directed on what and how to say it by PeteMCC. Driving any motor vehicle in an urban Thai setting is dangerous, esp. If you are used to driving defensively and sanely. Offensive driving is the way here. Good luck and wear a helmet if you must drive a moto.
Driving on the wrong side of the road means literally that. Thais are supposed to drive on the left, but many, many moto drivers drive on the right, going the wrong way against traffic, on the footpaths, without helmets, passing on blind curves, etc. It seems a rite of masculine affirmation for many youths to drive as badly and carelessly as they possibly can.
Not having any real enforcement in Thailand for driving laws makes this situation even worse. Driving defensive doesn't exists in this country and from my personal experience I rather operate a motorbike than drive. I truely feel safer than driving. While driving it's the motorbikes that drive you crazy they come from all direction like the little flies that surround your face, enter your month when you speak, enter your nose and ear and surround your leg while you sit. It's the wild wild west! But do what I have learn and set your mind to forget the idiot that blast down the road! My saying is " that idiot that just blasted down the road will be dead either today or tomorrow.

years back I did my thai driving license. 2 options applied. Pay THB 1,000 and pass or do the written and driving test and pass maybe.
I paid:-) and passed.

How did this deal work? Were you told about the two options by the authority, or did you just figure it out yourself and offer the bribe? Is this kind of corruption that open and obvious in LOS? I'm shocked!! Shocked!! :)

Oh well. It just kind of happened. I saw the overfilled 'classroom' for the multiple choice exam, then witnessed the utter idiotic driving test (good chance to fail, when turning right on a motorcycle, stretch out right arm LOL). Prompted my secretary to ask for 'other' ways. And voila, all sorted within a few minutes.
