Totally lost in translation
Are you suggesting you met and had ST with a girl from the country of Surinam, which is very small country in northeast South America, or was something lost in translation?
Hi Tomasb,
Thanks your remark, she was from the Surin province, but I wrongly wrote Surinam in my report, my bad.
Went on the prowl in Pattaya after about 15 years of not visiting the place. I am a bit disappointed. What the hell happened with proliferation of beer gardens between second and third street, wow!
I suspect Mr. Zen is referring to the Tree Town complex, as well as what's left of the old Made in Thailand complex which is adjacent to it. To be accurate, this area is bounded on the west by Second Road and on the east by Soi Buakao.
So many options, but obviously post-COVID everything is too large and there's mostly not enough girls or punters or in some cases both. And not judging here but most of the clientele has that 1,000 mile stare, is rapidly approaching or has passed age 60 and in general I don't know . . . vibe just feels offputting.
During the worst of the COVID shutdowns and travel restrictions the "regular" tourist trade all but disappeared, leaving a handful of ex-pats to hold the fort in Pattaya. I think they are the guys Mr. Zen saw during his visit. Yes, they tend to be older. And when they go out for the evening they seldom party as hard as the short-term millionaires who are in town for brief holidays. Finally, there are still many girls waiting in the provinces until they are absolutely positively sure that travel restrictions are lifted and that the rich handsome men have return to Pattaya in force. The trend is positive, in my view. (I read a recent post by Mr. 8939 on upcoming additions to the naughty boy scene.) But keep in mind it's low season right now. Assuming the former relaxed travel rules return (at least for vaccinated tourists) and the mandatory health insurance is eliminated or drastically reduced, I think we can expect the punters to return to Pattaya in force this fall. That will trigger a virtuous cycle where the girls return as well.
During the next six to eight months it will still be possible to enjoy a Pattaya holiday. As other guys have noted often, there is more to do than partake in the naughty boy scene. If those things appeal to you, I think you can spend a pleasant sojourn soon. But understand that it's low season and nightlife is not even close to being where it was, say, in the fall of 2019. (Insert obligatory concession here that even pre-COVID Pattaya had its faults.) Sounds like that's a deal-breaker for Mr. Zen. If you feel the same way, you should probably sit on your hands until the end of the year.
