The article in the Cebu Sun Star quoted no verified numbers, no verified named sources, and. Said the rise is amongst LOCALS who work together as Call Center Agents all night.
The mathematically challenged never believe this. And you haven't paid me enough to play math tutor, so I'm not going to try to demonstrate it, although the demonstration is simple and intuitive. But once the INCIDENCE of a disease goes lower than the FALSE-POSITIVE-RATE of its diagnostic test. The test loses all of its "positive predictive value".
If you get a positive HIV-seroconversion test result from (hetero) activities you did in Cebu City. The chances are better than 50% that it's a false positive.
HIV testing is expensive. I for one am rather skeptical that there's much of it going on here. Heck, they don't even spend the coupla bucks it takes to freeze/cauterize extremely ugly moles off their faces. Perhaps they feel the money is better spent on shoveling more white rice down. A presidential candidate recently pointed out that white rice is obesity/diabetes waiting to happen. He's obviously going to lose.
Curiously, before I went to the Philippines, I did some research for the incidence of AIDS there. According to the "official" health statistics, the Philippines is one of the lowest in the world. I have crossed checked two official sources and they had the same incidence of 0. 112 per 1, 000 people (2003). But 2003 is 7 years ago and I think that the RP keeps lousy stats since I doubt that there is any routine checking as in some other countries. This statistic flies in the face of the most toxic mix of corruption and catholicism which means that the money does not go to health care or reliable stats and that the catholic church insures that there will always be a plentiful supply of poor children born there for the lack of contraception, like condom use.
So, my conclusion is that the HIV rate is certainly higher than the official record and that due to the poor testing results one is not likely to get any accurate data on the subject until some independent group does the testing. I did not want to get tested in the RP because I had heard of the alarming rate of false positives, not only for HIV, but for other diseases. No point in paying for a heart attack to accompany the bad news. For what it is worth.

.....and just say that Shark is right in the fact that AIDs is not something to take lightly and its a real risk and danger so do be careful out there.

I agree wholeheartedly. There is a large group of OFW seamen who regularly return home to the Philippines to spend some of their hard-earned cash in the girls in the population. The ships stop off at places in Africa and PNG where there is a known and validated high incidence of HIV in the population.
I don't care much what the statistics say about HIV in the Phils - I just know that it has to be lurking in some members of the WG population and that means it can also be lurking in the population at large.
Bottom line is I ALWAYS use a condom.
I dont wish to take my chances with any one girl whether she is a bg, a freelancer or even a non-professional girl because she may well have had a liaison with one of these carriers from outside who prefer not to use condoms.

How well does Skype work in Cebu and in the Philippines in general?

The lo wprevalance reported may be a colusion with the church to discourage people from wearing condoms.

Good advice! These girls get bareback ridden and cream pied on a regular basis by diseased foreigners and locals alike. Anyone who thinks that they are the only one fucking these girls has to be incredibly stupid. If you fuck skinless in the Philippines you will eventually come down with a disease. It is a matter of luck whether that disease happens to be the clap or AIDS.

i am so tired of guys thinking girls are here to be abused. some asshole drugged a friend of mine from silver dollar last weekend and she is still sick 5 days later. she remembers going home with him and he poured her a drink and offered her some drugs and she declined. when she woke up the next morning, she said she was sick and stayed in bed one day and then she went to the hospital. she don't think she was raped, but she quit the bar saying she can't handle going out anymore. sad shit guys and i hope if a bm is doing this shit, they get their just dues:(

Doesn't the SD have security cameras so they can see whom she left with? It's a start to catch the individual. These cameras must be SOP with so many tourists and young girls.

Same thing that I asked her and I asked if he was a regular and she said no he was a tourist and left Cebu the next day. She is ashamed to tell the mommasan and feels like it was her fault for going with him. I will be in Cebu tomorrow and she is going to meet me for dinner and hopefully I can talk to her and get more details.

Well done Robb, just hope he was not an ISG man.....
If you do catch up with my friend please warn her also, one of her gfs is ex SD dancer and she knows a few ladies. As you said they are 'shy' to tell anyone especially friends, so telling my friend about it will spread the word through the local jungle drums - I could but then how do I know this as am not Cebu....Catch you soon

I haven't talked to her yet as my dance card is very full....I don't want to start with her if I can't meet her. I am working here today.
Update...I went to SD and the girl wasn't there and won't answer her cell...I asked about her and the momma san said she was on vacation:( I hope she is good.

Pussycats
Finally Pussycats has opened here in Cebu. The opening was delayed one week and the grand opening is next week. Last night there was 40 girls and at least half were smoking hot. I saw five that I knew from Abusir and BG's that transferred over, but lots of new girls.
The makeover of the old Star Bar turned out very well. It is one of the best now in Cebu. I met up with the SD owner there and he didn't feel good about it, but I told not to worry as he is the only game in town at 1100:D

Great news. I will be in Cebu next week so I must drop by and take a look. I have tended to avoid that group of bars on Mango (Papillon etc) after my initial trips because of the hard lady drink pressure from girls and mamasans. Just keep on going to Lone Star or cross the road to Vikings.
Tell SD owner not to worry. He has outstayed most other bars in Cebu city and SD is always mentioned when the topics of bars in Cebu is mentioned.

Moalboal
Guys
I am returning to Cebu for two or three weeks this coming May and I am in eager anticipation.
Just wondered if any of you can recommend any decent accomodation in and around Moalboal. I don't want to travel too far from Cebu City but would really like a few days on a nice beach and I am sick to death of the ugly mud flats on Mactan. How they can call these things a beach is beyond me. I am not a diver (in the true sense of the word) so those kind of facilities are not important.
I will be bringing my own girl so I will not have need of any action locally and would like to find somewhere close to a nice beach, safe, reasonable amenities such as air con, a swimming pool, TV in the room and not high end prices like the Waterfront. Don't mind paying around 3000 per night max.
If you have any suggestions please let me know, feel free to PM me if you don't want to clutter up the board.
Thanks
Mortman
