Neptunes revisited
I made the mistake of giving my e-mail to the girl I stayed with 3 nights in August. She's only e-mailed 2 times since then. And I can dictate the terms via e-mail.
But what do I do if I see her in Neptune's every night that I go there? How do I politely decline? I don't think she wants a husband or bf but I am sure if she saw me again, she'd look up at me with the same puppy dog eyes and ask to come back to my hotel until I kicked her out.
I know its hard, but remember this is a business transaction - nothing else. I've been caught a couple of times in exactly the same circumstances. Play it a bit by ear. Be friendly - even buy her a drink - but make it clear you have arranged to meet someone else that night or want to meet some one else. She might not be over the moon about it, but thats life. It also keeps your options open for later in case you change your mind. If you feel that bad - try Escape or any other place.
The fact that she has only emailed you twice in nearly 5 months would seem to me that she is not that interested in keeping in touch. My flipper emailed me every day for 18 months!!

Filipina, Pinay etc all works and al shows appropriate level of respect. Yeah we all screw them, and enjoy it too, but no need to denigrate their nationality too.

Yeah - I think you are being picky - just as you appear to be to some of the punters in the KL forum as well. However I did not wish to denigrate the Nationality - I was not aware this title could cause offence - it has been used regularly in previous reports without comment. You learn something every day.

Politically Correct?
FFS can we not just let ISG be one place where we don't have to be PC!
Flipper, Flip Flop, Filipina, who cares?
Next someone will suggest that it is not right to pay for sex and that we shouldn't be discussing it.

Do you call them that to their face and do you call someone black a nigger?

John Thomas...
Well I've had similar experiences with those operators recently. For one, I think the economy is pretty bad. secondly, most of these girls need to book their hours correctly so that the operators can maximize their profits from them. There are many flakers out there, so they probably just wanted to double check that you were keeping your appointment.
From the last few call ins, many of the girls said that business is not as good as it was 2 years back. But then again it depends on the girl that you call up too. The top japanese, korean and Russian and China girls are considered highly popular so they will always be booked. But for the regular girls, their business is hit a lot harder by this economic downturn.
The worst is when you call in a girl, and they end up pulling a bait and switch on you, giving you another girl and telling you that it's the girl you ordered, which is not true. I caught some of these operators doing that, and they admit that my preferred girl was busy and asked if I would settle for the new girl. Many times i declined, but sometimes I just take whatever they have. HK just takes too long to get girls- either hours at a filipino bar in wanchai, or calling operators for SW or visting those saunas that sometimes are busy on weekends is annoying. I guess beggars can't be choosers right?
Called for one of the Japanese hotel reservation girls at 4 PM one day last week. Appears the Regal hotel in TST is where some of them are stationed. Told the lady on the phone I would be interested in meeting a couple of hours later. Business meeting lasted longer than expected. Suddenly at 730 PM a male pimp rang up and wanted to know if I was still going to meet. This is the first time that I've contacted in this manner. Have any of the bros met with the same experience. Given the economy in HK is back to normal, surprised by the proactive behavior.
Serious question
Do you call them that to their face and do you call someone black a nigger?
Do Flipper, Pinay or Fillipina have the same connotation? Are any of them used to degrade them?

I've heard Philippine ladies refer to themselves as "Pinay" or "Fillipina", but never "Flipper".
According to Wikipedia:
Pinay (pronounced /ˈpiːnaɪ/) is a colloquial term for Filipina, the feminine form of Pinoy.
The Filipino people are the citizens of the Republic of the Philippines. The term is also often used to refer to a person having Filipino ancestry. Most Filipinos refer to themselves colloquially as "Pinoy" (feminine: "Pinay"), which is a slang word formed by taking the last four letters of "Pilipino" and adding the diminutive suffix "-y". The pre-1987 Philippine alphabet (Abakada)'s lack of the letter "F" had caused the letter "F" to be substituted with "P". This is the reason, when the 28-letter modern Filipino alphabet has been made official in 1987, the name Filipino was preferred over Pilipino.
With that said, we can safely assume that calling a lady from Philippines a "Flipper" is not a good idea. i.e. degrading!

Made the rounds in Wan Chai tonight (Sunday) starting around 11PM.
Galaxy - Pretty empty. About 30 girls and 7-10 guys. None of the girls anything to look at other than one slim chick singing in the band.
Laguna - male/female ratio was way to heavy on the males. I'm guessing something like 60/40.
Escape? (Former Fenwicks) - Entrance from the opposite end from before. Also pretty empty. Band was so-so. Guessing African American. Didn't have the energy of the band that was in Fenwicks 2 years or so ago when I was there last.
Neptune II - No band tonight. Not very full. Found a Viet girl with an amazing smile, great lips and wonderful attitude, until we got to the room.
At the bar we agreed to HK$1,000 for lots and lots of fun and her leaving at 6AM. We got to the room, in Kowloon. She wanted me to shower first. I suggested she shower first. Then before the shower she wanted money up front. I declined. I told her she needed to trust me and I had no plans to stiff her. She said she needed the money up front. I told her that if this was the case then she was free to leave. Then she started talking about how far we were from her room in Wan Chai. She asked for taxi money. I declined. As she was walking out the door I asked if she was sure that this is what she wanted to do. She said yes.
Now I'm considering whether to hit Harry's or just go to sleep.
EDIT: Harry's was nearly empty. Maybe 10 people in the whole joint. Met a cute African girl on her way out but she expected far too much.

Oh come on, guys. Let's keep it real.
Apac, no criticism man (I enjoy reading your posts), but if you have never heard a filipina referred to as a flipper you either haven't been in HK long enough or you just don't get out enough.
Personally I refer to them as filipinas. But I have heard them referred to as pinays, flippers, fillies and others. I haven't heard flipper used in a derogatory sense - at least not in the circles I move in.
I really do hope that misdirected political correctness doesn't turn this otherwise entertaining and informative section of the board into a Captain Save a Ho agony column.
Cheers.

UG,
Just a small correction, I meant people from Philippines do not call themselves Flippers. I was not saying others don't.

High School Reunion
Has anyone noticed that the streets of Wanchai have lately been awash with high school age party animals?
Also, since the latest bar trend seems to be standing and smoking on the street how about someone starting a curbside Fenwick on wheels.
PS: As a member of Friends of Porpoises, I feel compelled to register my objection to all the politically incorrect references to Flipper. Has anyone ever transported Minors across state lines for immoral porpoises?
Finally, I have noticed an uptick in high end freelancers cruising the bars above LKF.
Happy Holidays

If I may just add a bit on this - with appropriate apologies for perhaps belaboring the point.
I've lived in Hong Kong for over 50 years and I've heard just about all the derogatory and bigotted names being used for one and all nationalities - in both Chinese as well as English! And I do find it all distasteful personally.
Like Freebie Fan pointed out succinctly "...Yeah we all screw them, and enjoy it too, but no need to denigrate their nationality too...."
The Pinays are particularly hard hit as far as Bigotry is concerned as they've been at the lowest end of the Socio/economic strata as Domestic Helpers for over 30 years in Hong Kong and are the ones least able to defend themselves against ignorance.
I'm not particularly PC myself but I do find the use of racial/religious etc bigotry really takes away from the "attractiveness" and readibility of otherwise fine reports. I cannot see the NEED to use such derogatory terms unless there is other underlying anger or "concerns" by the writer himself.
Just my 2 cents
SEAJ
Ps. Pinoy = A Filipino (Guy), Pinay = A Filipina (Gal).
What do you cal a bunch of Filipinos???.......... Penises!!
Just a joke, Just a joke and I certainly hope nobody here thinks its a bigotted joke! (and I guess sort of to proof that I ain't all that PC myself!!)

Hi Guys - well it was me that sparked all this off in my reports. Sorry I raised a hornet's nest, but lets get back to reality. I apologise to those of us that are more sensitive than others. I certainly did not intend any offence to a race that I know is struggling badly to make ends meet because of a wide range of social factors and have to turn to the oldest profession in the world to try to eek out a living. Flipper is a term you won't find me using again. Lets now get on with the real purpose of the forum.

Politically Correctness
I would just like to say, in all fairness and good humor, that the concern for political correctness on this forum is worthy of great satire. Where is Don Rickle's when we need him.
