Phuket Reports

After leaving Pattaya to go to Bangkok, I noticed a prickly rash on my arm near my shoulder. I took a Claritin tablet thinking it was having an allergic reaction to something. It seemed to feel better, but after a few days I was wondering it was spreading. By the time I got to Phuket, it was a bit worse and was spreading to both arms, but not really bothering me nor very visible – just some bumps under the skin. But during last night it was really itching and kept waking me up. That morning it was clearly forming into a red rash. OK, time to go see Dr. Bangla. I don't want this thing to keep getting worse on me to where no girl will want to go out with me or where, worse, the airline won't let me fly home!

The doctor and staff there are all wonderful. Friendly and they speak good English. The doctor is a young guy, very good natured. He might have been happy to get a patient he didn't have to do an SDT screen on, I don't know. He DX's contact dermatitis, and was concerned that there might be, or would soon be, an infection. He prescribed two shots, one of which was an antibiotic and I am not sure on the other, but it was done thought an IV line so only one stick into my skin. Then he gave oral antibiotics, a steroid and antihistamine. Those steroids make you hungry, and I was ravenous the rest of the day. Indeed, that second shot must have been a steroid shot, as I did not take the prednisone until later. But yeah, I went to Burger King for breakfast, consisting of cheeseburger with fries at that time, then eating a bunch of nuts I had brought from home, an breakfast bar I had brought from home, two donuts I bought at the airport, plus the food on the airline, then in Pattaya more nuts, fried rice at the New York place on WS, then french fries at Red. So, yeah, I pigged out.

Anyway, rash may be getting better finally, but if anyone in Phuket wonders about Dr. Bangla, they are all great people. Cost took me little by surprise. The doc was 500 and the nurse was 200 for a total of 700 which is good. But with the meds and cost of the injection, it all totaled up to 4000 baht. The injectable was about half of the total. But if you feel ill or concerned about something, don't fret about seeing Dr. Bangla!

I am on limited cash, and the Doctor fee is sitting me back. That price represents two Soi 6 girls plus drinks!

I checked out the night clubs Illuzion, White Room, Seduction and Tiger Disco. Tiger was the best and here it was no problem checking out some Thai girls. However the line up there was not so much to my taste. Mostly too old. I was looking for some early / mid 20's. I didn't end up going out with a freelancer, but had some fun in Tiger with some girls who were there just enjoying themselves. I saw some freelancers in the other clubs, only a handful, so I didn't really bother chasing them.

I liked the Crazy Horse Circus Bar. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and nice dancers. I got my eye on one of the girls there and barfined her for 800 THB and paid 2 k THB for LT. She was also good and at that rate worth a repeat.

All in all it was a nice and short 5 day stay. I had a fun time, but my expectations were rather low to be honest. It was very hot, the beach was quite empty, the water also not really refreshing. Also, I was really surprised how diverse the tourist crowd was. It is an interesting place for people watching. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Australian, Arab, Euro, etc. Quite funny. You guys are right. Suzie Wong has the hottest girls. Minimum 8/10 with amazing bodies, no pregnancy marks anywhere. Tight bodies. Wow. Its basically like a strip club with a free lap dance when you buy them a drink. Shot of tequila is about 220 THB.

I have personally only tried Katherines Massage which is located on the left hand side some 50 meters in to the plaza.

I think Katherine's and Angels are the best places for action at the Punpon Plaza. Angels are opening 6 pm by the way.

LT: 2000.

But hey, you have thousands of funny and laid back girls in the hundred bars and discos (especially tai pan, illusion and seduction) to choose from.

I confirm LT is the standard in Patong, more than ST, and it's 2000. I'm quite picky, and had hot stunners for that price. Girls usually stay 'till we wake up!' and for breakfast. No drama, and no clock watching.

However, my experience is that it's pretty unusual to find freelancers in the nightclubs ready to go for less than 1500ST and 2000 LT.

For a lady from a bar in the Bangla area the rates mostly are 2000ST and 3000 LT. But same there, some asks for more, a few are ready to go for less. Cheaper and not so hot ladies if you go away from the Bangla area.

Barfines in bars fronting Bangla Road now mostly at 1500 but cheaper the further away from Bangla you go.

Was in Phuket last November, and again in May. As mentioned in a previous post I will never go back to Bali. Ever.

We walk to the street (the bars are right on the road, it is a quiet and narrow road) and try to figure out what is going on. So we walk back into the first bar and a Dutch guy is there. And we ask him "are there any real girls here" ? Yes he says. Just the three outside at the high table. We were unable to tell which was a lady boy and which was not. His "lady friend" was with him. He owned one or all of the bars I am not sure. Anyway we walk with him to the three at the table at the side of the road and point to two of them and say "we will take these two", the barfine is 300 be each. We did not even bother to buy them drinks. So I ask if they have a motor scooter and one of them does and the other doubles with her and they follow us back to our hotel. I would not recommend anyone goes to these bars. If you have a few too many you are going to wake up regretting what you will almost certainly do for a very long time. The Dutch guy was suggesting we should try it at least once, they were much more fun than real girls.

So we arrive back at our hotel in Rawai and the girls are sitting by the pool and my friend of mamasan fame arrives. We tell him "this one is for you". He cannot believe what he sees. "oh, OK then, thanks guys" he says. So these two spend the next four days with these girls, paying the 300 be barfine for every day and then 2000 be for every day on top of that. The girls did very well out of them. I had my long term girlfriend with me who did not want to talk to "bar girls". So there is a hierarchy amongst the locals.

Lastly if you are in Rawai go to the nighttime seafood markets and restaurants, even Thai people come to Phuket for holidays and the seafood is one of the main attractions.

Side note. Go to their pier there is night fish markets there.
