It must be a new AC problem, because when I was in Hotrods four or five times in Feb the A.C. was fine to me!
I've previously recommended the Mango park hotel because of location, (near Mango Square, free wifi in room and rooftop pool all for about 2000P whioch is OK by Cebu standards.
If you decide to stay there DONT PUT CASH IN THE HOTEL SAFETY BOXES BEHIND RECEPTION. I did this and have had around 400USD of currency stolen.
The problem is that all the reception staff and doubtless others too know the default code to get into these boxes, there is no web cam covering them so its open for staff to help theirselves during the night when noone is around. So far no adequate respose from management who supposedly left mid friday afternoon and wont return till Monday. if you can live without the pool Maxwell and Alpa City suites look good new options at the $40-50 range. Mango in general has a very poor customer service record, but the pool is rooftop pool is very nice and the wifi generally works.

Thanks for the warning. I am always weary of safes in room or behind the reception desk. I've had money skimmed from safety boxes before where you have one key and they have the other but you need both to open it. Someone had a copy of my key. That happened in China. I also know that those digital safes in the room can be opened with a key the management has. In the wrong hands it can wreak havoc. No real safe way of handling things. I only bring emergency cash and not looking to constantly change money. I use an ATM. I prefer to leave cash in my locked luggage. They take my luggage, I'm screwed anyway. I use the in room safes, but I won't leave everything in there. I actually prefer to use that as a diversion and put only a little bit in there for something quick for me to grab. If you use the safety boxes at reception it's nice if they have those boxes that you can put a little mini padlock on it.

I had in my possession complete detailed receipt, signed by owner. This place is no longer operating as a Hotel. Caused a lot of inconvenience and spoiled my trip at the time.
You will not get the money back. They will not honour their responsibility re valuables placed in Security Box, my experience anyway. In my case I was threatened by influential owner that it would be me that would end up in Court, defending myself, from a false charge no doubt.
I brought Police to query owner, he scared them off with his political connections. Chief of Police told me he could not help me, his job was in jeopardy and recommended I drop if for my personal safety, which I did.
I have also pm'd you re this.
Yea, it's a mystery.
Robb was kind of curt to me last time, so I hesitate to ask how late he was or what reputation he has at the bar...
It strikes me as a place of comfort and entertainment for east asian customers, so having a bunch of rowdy Westerners might not be welcome.
I've barfined out of ther only twice and both have shown their credetials on the naughty thread.....gorillia included.

Arena and jaguar are Korean own KTV style bars just further away from main city. All taxi knows the place. The place is an expensive joint for Korean and Japanese to spend their dough. The girls are the best there are in Cebu.
The place is expensive but well worth a visit, if you are into quality. I have written some reports on the place last year, you can check on the reports by searching keywords arena and jaguar.
All bars close at around 2.30 am and most of the girls head to Juliana disco, you could get them there...but just a visit to the bars..you would know which girl is from Arena and Jaguar.
Good Luck

I have come to the same conclusion not a snowball in hells chance of getting the management to cough up $400. I was tempted to delay my departure from Cebu till Monday to try and confront the manager/owner but I have a feeling it would be futile especially as inn my case there was no documentary evidence how much I had in the wallet and i did not check it at check out. Most people have alos said that trying to get the police involved is also pointless as they will be well connected with the hotel and eager to fleece the foreigner.
I decided to spend a couple of days in LapuLapu/Mactan (the area near Cebu Airport) before leaving Cebu. In general its not a great place to find open minded girls. There's not much nightlife so most of the naughty girls migrate to Cebu City.
I managed to luck out through DIA though and found a girl who absolutely loves sex. She's running 25 so has lost the fresh face of youth and no longer slim but still has a nice body. Her attitude and skill (especially with her tireless tongue) however is exemplary and she is a very nice girl who is reliable and good to talk to. She's looking for great sex and companionship rather than money though Im sure a gift/treat etc would be appreciated as she's recently lost her job. She says she loves licking pussy as much as sucking cock (which she seems to adore) so was very up for a threesome, but we couldn't find another naughty girl in Lapu Lapu at short notice.
She has found DIA difficult going as most guys are based in Cebu City and not interested to come to LL to meet. She's agreed to meet a couple of guys in town but they didnt show up so she's now wary of taking the hour long jeep to Cebu.
If you are in the Mactan/lapu lapu area or are especially keen to find a girl for a threesome, PM me and Ill pass on her DIA ID.
I got into trouble last time I posted a DIA ID on the site as some guy was kind enough to try and win favour with the girl by telling her that i had posted her ID to a sex site.

Very disturbing news indeed and doubtful management had knowledge of the pilfering. More then likely a shady employee. You don't have any recourse at this point but purhaps lodge a complaint with the Hotel Resort and Restuarant Association of Cebu which I'm sure the hotel is a member of.
Would suggest that members purchase a lockable money pouch that prevents casual theft by hotel employees or invited guests.
My message had nothing to do with various pm's we have exchanged in the past.
What I though was "curt", wasn't meant to be a point of contention. You had a very short and serious reply to my continuation of the Hot Rod post. That's all, not meant as criticism -- just critical analysis. ;-)
"how late" was in reference to how late you arrived at Hot Rod. Was it at closing? Turn off the AC at closing seems like a very good strategy -- wouldn't you say?
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Gl,
I've come to enjoy your informative posts, but you're getting lazy!.
You said you've you spent a "couple days" in Lapu, but you don't give us much info.
I've been to Mermaid (just before the new bridge on the way out of the airport) a few times both at the new place and old. Some great gals but the format is not the usual Mango stuff.
I've also wandered into the local area, where there are several bars and a few diamonds in the rough. Ned Kelly was one place I remembered.

No worries X. I am here to share and get info on the Philippines.
I was there at 11:30 pm. Last weekend in Cebu I didn't waste my time in checking Hotrods.
I did enjoy the Silver Dollar Pacman fight promo. It is great to watch the fight with 40 or so other guys and all those ladies. Carl put on a great party.
