Well I usually stay in the Mango area of Cebu but as i had an early flight to Davao i thought I would get a change of scenery and stay in Lapu Lapu a couple of nights before taking an early morning trip to Davao. One reason is that I had accumulated a number of DIA contacts who were based in Lapu Lapu. I ended up in a place which i hadn't realised was actually a language school centre CleverLearn Residences as it was economical and had a pool and free wifi.

Had one had more time there would probably have been scope to seduce some of the Japanese and Korean chicks living there given that they are all pretty keen to converse with bona fide native English speakers. Some of these girls are very cute. I found that many of my DIA LapuLapu contacts had moved on or had bfs now so things were looking dicy until I met up with the girl I described who turned out to be a star in terms of performance and attitude.

Incidentally I have found the contrast in attitude between Davao and Cebu astounding. If you go to DIA one get's the impression that there are lots of very cute and open minded chick in Davao, but I've found that a far greater proportion of these girls flake away once you actually get here. Personally I've done fairly well, though many of my DIA contacts did flake away one girl was keen to chat on cam and then meet me at the mall. She declared herself unavailable citing menstruation as the reason, but then proceeded to talk her friend into taking an hours hubble hubble ride into town from the sticks to meet me. She turned out to be a very hot 19 year old with an i'll stay with you until you tell me you dont need me any more attitude. She's quite an interesting girl. She spent the 25k pesos she one as second prize in a bikini competition on buying a turkey farm - well a bit of an exaggeration really just a couple of dozen birds living beneath her parents house.

She is also a salsa instructor at the local hotel and designs some of her own clothes so really knows how to move both in bed and out. There are a couple of other foreign guys hanging out at the hotel however, both extremely eligible guys in their 30's who have been here quite a while and so far had very limited success. Almost unbelievable for anyone conditioned to the Cebu scene

Nowadays the building has been remodelled and rented out to various businesses. Easier to collect rent than run a hotel.

I recommend no one leaves cash notes in a Security Box. Too much of a temptation for lowly paid staff.

Sxxxx you are absolutely right I missed the bit about no longer operating as a hotel anymore. Blame it on my excitement at the thought of arriving back in Cebu in another 5-6 weeks. Will be giving Lapu Lapu a miss this next time, spending 4 -5 days in Cebu City, 2-3 days in Moalboal, 2-3 days in Bohol, 5 days in CDO and if I have time I would like to experience Davao for the first time. Will be flying direct into Cebu, as I have said before I will never go via Manila, too many bad past experiences. If any of you guys fancy meeting for a beer and swapping war stories please PM me. I will be in Cebu at the beginning of May for around 3 weeks.

If you are planning to fly Cebu to CDO, I recommend that you just go ahead and fly to Davao. It's a nice city and nice beaches nearby. I love CDO too, but I don't think there is a good beach nearby.

Maybe you are using ferry the whole way. Maybe you have a gal in Butuan. Who knows. I'm looking forward to your usual interesting field reports.

After reading a lot of pages here it remains some question for me.

It will be my first time in Phil, I would like to rest the days on a nice beach and mongering the nights.

On Mactan, it seems they are good hotels like Shangri-la, but far from the action! 1 hour taxi? Cost?

Are they closer hotel with a beach or a nice pool?

Or I have to split my stay between the Marriott and shangri-la?

Or I have to split my stay between the Marriott and shangri-la?[/QUOTE]Shangri-la, Hilton, Plantation Bay are all nice places to stay. You will be somewhat disappointed with the beaches at any of these places, but will be able to relax at all and they have nice pools.

Taxis can be difficult to get on short notice, especially from P Bay. There are hotel cars you can rent one way or by the hour. Generally taxi will cost about 300 pesos one way but can vary alot depending on time of day. From what I remember the hotel car from P bay was about 600 one way to mandaue, probably 800 to mango. These prices are from my memory but fairly recent so I may be misquoting. Sometimes I could get taxi to P Bay for 250. They won't use the meter generally so agree on a price if they are reluctant, and some will be very reluctant, don't agree to more than 400. Traffic from Mactan to Cebu at 6-8pm time is hell (1. 5. 2 hours), plan on leaving early for the nightlife.

You will impress the girls with the surroundings on Mactan hotels, but that 1 hour ride can be a killer and also remember the taxi inflated cost when tipping. Also it can be difficult to get taxi for the girl if she is leaving early in the morning hours (3am-4am).

Marriott has a nice pool area also, and is very convenient for everything. I stay there 100% now, used to stay on mactan alot, but no more, just ain't worth it (traffic, taxi, etc). Crown Regency and Waterfront are also decent hotels downtown Cebu, closer to the action at night.

I am afraid that the combination of lots of mongering and a nice beach just do not go hand in hand in Cebu, especially Cebu City. Mactan/Lapu Lapu is very overpriced and a long way from the nightlife and bars of Cebu City and you will be heavily overcharged by taxis if you try to get back to Mactan late at night. The hotels on Mactan do have some great facilities but the beaches are not much more than mud flats, with no surf. It is more like standing on the muddy edge of a large lake. I have heard that some of the islands off Mactan are very beautiful and have great beaches, but that means organising and paying for transport to get there and back.
Mactan isn't all bad there is mongering activity to be had on the island but nothing like you will find in Cebu City.
My advice would be to spend a few days mongering in Cebu City, organise lots of meetings through Date in Asia, Asian Euro and the other well known dating sites and once you have found a girl (or even two) that you are comfortable with, head off to Bohol where the beaches are much nicer. I have not explored Cebu island as much as some of the other guys on this board but have heard there are some lovely beaches to be found on the island. The problem is that transport infrastructure sucks like everywhere else so getting to the resorts can be both time consuming and problematic

Would have to agree with Mortman in that you should find a girl first, then stay out at one of the resorts or better yet island hop.

Shangri-La does have a nice beach and pool. But it's up to an hour taxi ride to Cebu city and 350 to 500 php each way depending on traffic. To get to some clubs in Lapu2, half that amount.

Check out the Waterfront Lahug which has a great pool, gym, casino, entertainment and food. You might even meet some nice women in their lobby.

Marriott has it's advantages being mext to Ayala Mall but the rooms and pool are on the small side and not the best value IMO.

I was in Silver Dollar last Thursday night and a health care worker was teaching a class on STD's and Aids to the girls in the pool room. One of the girls came out with an Aids pamphlet and was laughing about the picture of two guys having sex. We all had a good laugh and one girl who was dancing asked me and another customer if we ever did that. We both replied hell no!

She had 7 tattoos and I asked her if she was worried about getting Aids from the tattoos and she replied that you can't get Aids from getting a tattoo and she knew that she was right because she had asked the health care worker in the class. Nothing like spreading bad info.

I only been to the gogo bars in Mango Avenue (Dimples, Papillion, Sisters, Hot Rods, Erik The Red, Vikings, BG's, Club Temptation and Lone Star. I didn't really bother to check out the ones near Fuente Osmena, Downtown and Mandaue. What do you guys recommend? I plan on heading to Cebu again in May of this year. I was thinking

Fuente. Silver Dollar. Sounds good based on what people say on here.

Downtown. Not sure if I want to bother going down here. I been to Colon and it can get dark there due to the brown outs they have.

Mandaue. Club Harem? A girl on DIA mentioned this place but, I didn't get the chance to check it out. Lots of young girls

Other. Club Arena. Barfine can be very expensive here. Anyone had first hand experienced at this bar?

Infinity KTV near Parklane Hotel. Was thinking about checking this out just to see how it's like.

As someone who is looking at spending a few days of mongering later this year in Cebu for the 1st time, I was interested in your comment that Mactan had an "almost unlimited supply of single and available girls".

I have had a read of the Cebu forum, re where one might meet or find these single gals on Mactan.....but too no avail.

Is there any chance you could give me the heads up where I am likely to meet these gals or is it just a matter of crusing the shops, streets or general bars to find them ?

In my view this is misleading at least from the perspective of a visitor rather than long term resident. Of course if you are resident living in some condo there may be an unlimited supply of young women who can persuaded to take up residence in your condo as your GF but Mactan is not in my opinion a great place for more casual encounters for the visitor. The problem is that most nightlife cuts out at about 10pm in Mactan, the naughty girls migrate to Cebu city where the nightlife goes on till about 4am.

As the below post has said, unless you are living in PH, no point in staying in Mactan, all girls you would meet eventually, would wanna go to cebu city.

For girls in Mactan.. cebu city is like a dream ride. They get to visit many malls and eat food and hang out till late.

Don't worry, Cebu city and infact all of PH has unlimited supply of girls, the thing is are you ready to live in the PH. If you coming to stay in Cebu for few days, stick to main party areas. I can assure you, you will have as much fun as in cebu city than in Mactan. Good Luck
