When I was in Minsk in Sept-Oct 1 USD = 8400 BYR in most places for a large part of my trip. I hope it stays that way until spring when I return to FSU as Minsk is high on my list.

Why do you ponder about hitting another place than Minsk for your next trip (beside the "pionner monger" spirit that animates some of us and that I share) if you enjoyed tremendously the destination, if the local currency is ridiculously low, and if you have already good contacts there? No controversy here, just inquirement.

No controversy here, just inquirement.
That's a fair question. I was in Kyiv in summer 2010 and I made a lot of great contacts and could have easily returned this past fall and enjoyed them but instead I went to an unknown in Minsk, Belarus. Why? Adventure, challenge. I like the idea of going somewhere unknown and not being sure about how my time there will turn out and who I might meet. It is a new experience. For me, traveling to the FSU is more than just mongering but learning about a new city.
My only problem with going to Minsk (other than having to get a visa) is how shy and reserved women are there. Unlike in Ukraine, Belarussian women take a lot more time and effort to get into the sack. However, once you earn the trust of a Belarussian woman she is much more of a friend and loyal to you than a Ukrainian woman, in my experience, anyway. When I spoke to my contacts in Kyiv last summer before I had decided firmly where I was going in September, they were not eager to go out of their way to assist me in any way. Two women I met in Minsk, however, are both offering to help me find a nice flat at a much better rate than what I paid in September. All of this without my asking.
Really, Minsk is the most appealing option to me at the moment and it will be difficult for another city to supplant it. However, I recall flying back to Canada from Kyiv in 2010 and thinking the same thing about the Ukrainian capital and I have yet to return there.

Thanks
My advice, having spent a month in Minsk from mid-September to mid-October, is to do what I had to do. That is, read through this forum. If you speak Russian than clubs are perfect. If not then nothing will be easy. Not a lot of people speak english in Minsk. Trust me on that one.

Thanks
I'm sorry, I am not sure I understand what you mean by 'tool'? Are you talking about websites? If so, well, there are not many that have Belarussian girls who speak English. There is a better chance of finding a happy ending in a Dostoyevsky novel than an english speaking girl on mamba. Other websites are hit and miss. In Minsk I met a few women who spoke English in casinos and cafes but Belarussian girls are so reserved it was difficult to gauge them.

Vkontakte. Ru 2nd option.
Rambler. Ru or mamba. Ru it is very difficult, but good selection.
Is Dankoff strip club still open? I liked that club when I was in Minsk especially Jacuzz; rooms.
Hi all,
I have been to Belarus last summer.
First, I have to say Belarusian girls are very cute and you might find the kind of physical you like.
They are independent, with a strong character, educated and most of them very well educated.
I fall in love with this country (till now I only know Minsk) , even if it is not so simple to get a visa. On the other way, because of this visa there is less crowd and I like it like that.
You can find easily a girl friend experience and, excepted if you go in a club like "Next", you won't have to pay because it is a true girl friend you will have. Me I like to invite them at restaurant, or any place, and they use to enjoy it.
Some people from this forum seems to go there quite often.
Do you think it is possible to have a job opportunity there for a West European citizen?
With a low Belarusian Ruble, you can get Belarusian products at a low price. Is there anybody who is doing export / import?
Thanks to share your experience with that country. You can send me a private message if you prefer to stay discreet.
Cheers!
I was speaking with a good friend of mine living in Minsk and she told me the current exchange rate is 1 USD = 8400 while 1 Euro = 10950 BYR. So, still a very favourable rate for westerner's carrying foreign cash into Belarus. I also spent a day or two on a few different websites speaking with women in Belarus. A lot are searching for a sponsor, of course, as the economy there continues to struggle and while the rates tend to vary they are still quite reasonable if not low. One woman I spoke with inparticular is actually a 27-year old doctor. She is a lovely burnette with a tall, lean figure and soft blue eyes. She told me she isn't satisfied with her income and wants to supplement it. She is very promising.
My plan is to return to Minsk sometime in April for another 30 day trip. Unlike my first trip where I was satisfied with supporting one beautiful studentka, I will be playing the field and trying different websites, cafes, clubs and whatnot to meet more women and report on my success and failures.
Happy New Year everyone!
Todays news about Belarus is that a new law has been passed and being effective today 6th of January. It means a lot of new restrictions regarding internet.
In short it means that foreign web pages will be banned for free internet surfing. Only. By addresses will be free unless you submit to government supervison (spying). Businesses can only be done via. By web pages. That makes Ebay and Amazon purchases and sales impossible and it might affect facebook and Gmail.
Everybody has to register and show a passport to get access to foreign web pages (not a new thing since it has been like that for at least a year) but now it is even stricter. Internet cafes must report to the government which users have accessed foreign pages. It is not clear if you need a normal passport or a government approved passport to get access to foreign internet sites.
According to the lovely nice and freedom loving Belarus government it is in order to stop access to extremist sites and pornographic sites (gee thats bad for the poeple with porno). Lukasjenka aka "Batka" tries to do something nice for the people. The real reason is of course to stop the opposition from using internet and to clip their wings.
It is not clear how this will affect us foreign mongers. For instance to access your e-mail or your internet bank. Regarding myself I used to do some business on Ebay when having a spare time in Belarus when the devushkis has gone home. As it seems Ebay will be blocked. And probably paypal as well and access to internet banks.
It is hard to say how this will affect us. But one thing is clear. It will be harder. It might not be too severe for us foreigners if it is enforced in a mild way. Or perhaps not all. If its enforced in a strict way it will make a lot of problems. Most of the restrictions is to stop internal extremists (ohhh. Those evil people who likes freedom and democracy) and journalists and not so much for us hmm "sexomaniacs", I mean tourists.
I was in Minsk last time in November and it was as usual. Foreign currencies in the banks and no more black exchange though. USD was close to 9000 but is now at 8400. As mentioned many girls are open for sponsoring now. Nothing bad that doesn't bring along anything good. However it seems that this fact has been observed and I see a tendency that prices has got slighly higher for "top girls" used to the game. Many amateurs or first time semi-pros are still more open. There is a new club that is very popular and has to be checked out. The new club is called Dozari and is in the centre quite near Max Show. It should be at Nezavisymosty Ave. Its close to where I stay in Minsk and I will go there to see what kind of club it is. It seems quite upscale though, and is many girls new favourite club in Minsk. That goes for at least the jet set girls or those who tries to be part of that.
I am off to Minsk in 2 weeks time and will of course give feedback about this new restrictions for the internet.
Cheers and Happy New hunting year! :)
