Jaco / Jaco Beach

It may rain the whole day, maybe half the day and then all night. You may get a few hours of sun, more likely just cloudy with a 15 minute break thru here and there. You aren't going to find alot of chicas working the Cocal pool / bar, the new hotspot in those months. The fishing crowd drys up. Gringo tourists to CR are way down then. I wouldn't go there then, I'd stay in SJ. Better, save your money and wait a few months. It pours in SJ too.

If you go, bring your rain coat, an umbrella, and boots. I am serious.

It's still the best time for me as it relates to work (would be around Christmas otherwise) and I've already been to the DR a couple times and Thailand is not worth it for less than a week. Other option is Colombia, but think Costa Rica will be more laid back. Will more than likely still go to Costa Rica and hope for the best. Surely places will be less crowded and cheaper if nothing else. Looking forward to it. First beers are on me guys!

I will visit Jaco for the first time over labor day weekend. I was thinking of staying at the Cocal as that seems to be the center of the action. However, the room rates seem a little pricy. Does anyone know if there is also an aditional fee for taking girl back to your room like the HDR charges each time you take a girl to your room even though you are staying there. Or is the Cocal more like the sportsmans lodge where if you are staying there, there is no fee to bring a girl back to your room.

Another questions is there a more modist priced hotel in the area, if so does it work like in gringo gulch. If I'm staying at the HLH I can go to either the JDR or the SL and pick up a chica and take her back to my room at the HLH in a taxi. Does the same thing work in Jaco if you are not staying at the Cocal but want to pick up chicas at the Cocal.

For any golfers, we played Los Suenos and were not super impressed. It pales in comparison to the courses in DR. Also had good meals at Bohio Beach Bar and Los Amigos. Great coffee at Del Mar. Beatle Bar was closed the whole time we were there and Monkey Bar was dead as well. There was a bar near Beatle called The Patio that had girls. Cheaper but nothing spectacular. One final note. One of my buddys was pick-pocketed on the street by a hook. Yes, you can take girls from the Cocal back to your room at another hotel. I stayed at Hotel Green just outside of town (fifteen minute walk) which is GF and quiet and has a pool and was pretty cheap. I think it was $70 / night including tax. In SJ I stayed at Hemingway Inn in Gringo Gulch and had a good time there for $40 / night tax included. It is right up the street from Hotel Little Havana and practically next door to a massage parlor. Have fun!

Chris[/QUOTE]The Beatle bar has been closed for sometime, however, I hear rumors that it has been sold and will re-open soon. There are a lot of places in Jaco that you can stay that don't charge a chica fee.

Looks like all the action in Jaco is still at the Cocal and the Monkey Bar. Will keep you posted.
