I don't know but I guess the cost of living should be fairly cheap in Palmas. I only spent a couple of days in Palmas. I was to busy checking out ho-houses and drinking beer, so I can't report about the quality of the vegetables.

I don't know about salmon in Palmas, but at least you can get freshly cooked tucunaré. This delicious fish is knowned as the salmon of the Amazon.

I didn't check out the supermarkets or the gym's. If you enjoy running you have plenty of long avenidas to run.

I would go crazy if I lived in Palmas. The city is just to deserted.

My impression was that Palmas was like a city invented by the government. "Let's do like we did with Brasilia, construct a city in the middle of nowhere, wide avenidas, all kind of neat government buildings etc. Oops... we forgot we have to populate the city as well."

I would like to recommend another city for you, but I find it's difficult as you want altitude and less humidity. Maybe somewhere in Goiás, Minas Gerais or some small city in the interior of Bahia.

I appreciate your time and interest in replying to my questions. I plan to use the board function and just go through and read all your posts. Obviously, I need to go and check things out for myself. Being in a farming area, Palmas should have good fruit and produce. Low cost of living sounds good. One must always accept trade offs, and if a fairly new city and infrastructure have to be balanced with heat and humidity, so be it. I will research the other places you mentioned.

Hi I have not any experience about Brazil but here I see always the same posts. Manaus, Fortaleza, Salvador, etc, etc Are they really wonderful for fucking or there is not inventiveness in your brain.
I could make a mistake but I think that towns in remote places in the forest should be wonderful. Yesterday in a web site I have chatted with a very young girl living at a village in the heart of Amazonas and it was more than wonderful. After 1 minute I have found syntony with her. A very good chatting. Today another wonderful chatting with a girl living in Para state. I think I will not go to Rio, Manaus or Fortaleza. There are beautiful and nice girls with a great desire (and more simple to fuck) in remote villages. I think it should be a new, different but more interesting story instead of bigger towns. This is my thought.

In Brazil they don't have this big issue with age differences.
People will look at you. Look at the gringo, but propably not in a negative way. They will gossip as brazilians love to do this.

If the girl will be ashamed? Propably not.

I think it would be very good with more reports about different cities in Brazil. In this forum the Rio section gets about 68% of the posts, Sao Paulo maybe 17%, Fortaleza 8%, Salvador 4% and Other areas 3%.

Actually the girls are behaving completely differently in their home "villages".

I had some time to wonder around in Piaui and Maranhao and I won't suggest to meet them in their home towns. Their families are there and going out with gringo is not so good for their reputation.

Try to arrange meeting in nearest bigger city, like in my case I finally just went back to Teresina and asked the girl to meet me there. In her town, nothing not even a kiss, but when in Teresina complete service.

It is more complicated because if I like to meet her at a different town she has to take an aircraft. Often it is so because the village usually stay at remote places. What bad luck!!!

While I understand what associations might be made by being seen with a gringo in many areas, but what about smaller, non-traditional mongering areas. If you're just a tourist visiting an area like the Amazon, you meet a woman, how does that mess with her reputation? Or is the assumption that anytime a woman is with a gringo, there's something not right about it, no matter what part of the country?

All I can say is what I experienced.

The women will TALK to you and are VERY interested, but NO SEX. They usually want to have some friend or relative when meeting etc.

I'd just suggest meeting in "neutral zone" where she can relax.

Remember that great majority of these women aren't hookers, thus different approach.

I think it depends on the circumstances.

Let say you go to the local Saturday forró-dancing in a remote village/city in Brazil. As a gringo you'll get a lot of attention and you will have very good chances of getting laid the same evening.

If you meet a girl on a dating-site things might work different. First meeting together with her sister/friend, meeting parents, romancing and after a while a secret meeting at the local motel.

I don't see it as bad for a girls reputation going out with gringo if she lives in a non-traditional mongering area. On the contrary. It would propably be considered not good if it took place in a typical gringo-destination, e g Copacabana.

Of course, smaller city means more gossips and might need more sneaking around. When I went to Barcelos (a village up on Rio Negro in the Amazon) I happened to have a chat and some kissing with a local girl just after I got there. In absolutely no-time the whole village knew that I was "namorando" this girl.

I have also experienced that girls behave different in their home villages, although in a different way than Perkele explained. Right now I'm thinking of a lovely and wild bahiana I met in Porto Seguro on her holiday. Some time after I decided to do a surprise visit to her home town. I seeked out where she was living, knocked on her door. She opened, her jaws dropped, a kid next to her side and her husband sitting in the sofa in the living room. "Oi, tudo bem?..."

I once took my girlfriend in her village, deep in the state of Bahia. Her family is dirt poor, no running water, no electricity. When it rains, streets are rivers of mud. Rooms are separated by hanging bedsheets.

My girlfriend was 26 years younger than I, and everyone was extremely nice to me. Everyone was crying because they had not seen each other in 3 years.

The only problem with these places is that they are so remote. It took us a full day in order to get there from Sao Paulo (flight to Salvador+ rental car).
