As of a few weeks ago, that airlink is now available again.
The roads between the two have been fixed up a lot. A bus ride is worth considering. One would certainly run into more hurting-for-money young ladies on the bus than on an airplane.
As the below post has said, unless you are living in PH, no point in staying in Mactan, all girls you would meet eventually, would wanna go to cebu city.
For girls in Mactan.. cebu city is like a dream ride. They get to visit many malls and eat food and hang out till late.
Don't worry, Cebu city and infact all of PH has unlimited supply of girls, the thing is are you ready to live in the PH. If you coming to stay in Cebu for few days, stick to main party areas. I can assure you, you will have as much fun as in cebu city than in Mactan. Good Luck

In my view this is misleading at least from the perspective of a visitor rather than long term resident. Of course if you are resident living in some condo there may be an unlimited supply of young women who can persuaded to take up residence in your condo as your GF but Mactan is not in my opinion a great place for more casual encounters for the visitor. The problem is that most nightlife cuts out at about 10pm in Mactan, the naughty girls migrate to Cebu city where the nightlife goes on till about 4am.
Thanks for the advice

*Question for you all*
Im tossing up whether i will spend time in Cebu or Makati. I only have 1 week this time, and generally prefer the niteclub/freelancer disco scene. Having been to Pump and Juliana, i thoroughly enjoyed myself there and have a hazy memory of some pretty hot and accesible girls. I have spent many a night at Cafe Havana as well in Makati and always pull some decent birds from there (hate the rough as guts LA Cafe type scene though).
So generally speaking, is Pump/Juliana better than Cafe Havana ? Are there any other similar clubs in Cebu that are better ?
Many thanks for your input,
Peace out

Average tailor shop here has a limited steady diet of school and work uniform commissions. Have to be affordable to the locals, hence, no true fittings.
The guy is happy to meet you at your hotel, or at Robinsons Fuente

The main thing about the Philippines is everything and I do mean everything (with the exception of electricity) is cheap. Even when you have been ripped off, it likely cost a lot less than what you might pay elsewhere. My middle of the road very clean and secure hotel (The Diplomat) cost me about $23 a night. If you stayed with the local goods, food and drink were exceptionally cheap. A pack of Marlboros in a bar cost a little over a dollar and local smokes about half that. BTW most bars sucked because of the smoking.
Another thing is that poverty is everywhere. There seems to be little if any safety nets for the impoverished. I have a lot of opinions as to why this condition exists but I’ll keep that to myself. Besides the culture of beggars the poverty and drugs has produced the world’s most tenacious salesmen. Whenever I stepped outside my hotel or a mall I was besieged by people selling all manner of goods. I would suggest that car dealers and real estate companies import these people to do their bidding.
But you don't really care about all that, You want to know about the action in Cebu. Overall I found it comparable to San Jose, CR but cheaper. The two venues I used to obtain ladies were the bikini bars and massage parlors, though mp's were strictly in call. BTW I encountered many exceptionally good looking women. If you like em short and petite this is the place you want to be.
IMO the best bikini bar is the Silver Dollar. Bar fine $1,000 pesos plus 750 pesos for the girl, but I always gave them a 1,000. That's like $44 to have lady in your room for about three hours. I was pleased with all the sessions I had with the Silver Dollar ladies. I also used Sisters twice and was pretty satisfied with that situation. I noticed some guys were negotiating for a long night but personally I'm not into that.
I picked up a what I guess is a semi-pro at El Gecko the very popular expat bat. I forget her name but she had her own motor bike. She was short and very squeezable without being fat. I had a great time with her but she tried to get more than we originally agreed on. Some semi-pro, uh?
I had some of the best massages in my life while in Cebu. About $5.50 for a one hour massage is hard to beat. This was at the massage place in the same building as my hotel the Diplomat. Very skilled professionals but alas no extras to be had there.
But that wasn't an issue at Chuva Chuva. A one hour massage there is 1,200 pesos. I could never get it straight with them if that was for one or two masseuses. They advertise themselves as giving a Lingam massage. In the world of the Kama Sutra the lingham is your johnson (aka wand of light) and of course it needs to be massaged for the last 10 minutes of the massage. My first session was really great. Marie (see photo) was very accommodating and gave a great massage. She honored my wand of light with great aplomb. But I could get her on board with oral. My second session pretty much sucked and therefore it was my last. The girl I got this time was an out and out pig who tried up-selling throughout the session. All in all Chuva Chuva was overpriced with limited services but I did have one exceptional session.
I did have a lot of a good time while in Cebu but it wasn't the only reason I visited. I was looking at it as a possible place to retire in four or five years. I was lucky to meet with several expats who gave me lots of information. I might ad this is my first time in Asia. Will I come back? I don't know, I'm still processing a lot of information from the trip. I hopped to visit Thailand while here but there were big political demonstrations going on while I was in Cebu. I really do want to get a body slide massage. :)
Is there any chance you could give me the heads up where I am likely to meet these gals or is it just a matter of crusing the shops, streets or general bars to find them ?
Yes just like most everywhere in Philippines, you can meet women most any place and hour of the day. As you may not know, Mactan Island is a world onto itself. Many people rarely leave this expansive island since most everything is available locally. This includes puki.
One evening a few months ago, a buddy and I were on our way to White Castle to meet some friends; it was after 10:00 pm. Shortly after crossing the new bridge, I spotted a young lady walking briskly. So my bud jams on the brakes, pulls over and I call her over to the car. It took me all of about five minutes to convince her that she needs to go out on a date with me!
The next day she texts me informing that she cannot find her way to my hotel near Fuente Osmena circle. No worries! Told her to put a nice dress on and I would pick her up at the McD's near her home. Of course she was fashionably late but while waiting was able to get another girls number who was eating there with her friend.
Turns out she was an eighteen year old provincial girl who was always bored and up for anything and everything so I gave it to her! Great bubbly personality, very willing and never once complained about anything. Only spend a few hours with her as I had to meet a group of women at the disco. Gave her 500 php and a few bangles plus the taxi back to Lapu2. This is one gilrl you will never find on the internet. You have to be on the ground and circulating to catch up with a gem like this!
For those of you who want to explore Lapu2, I would start with Gaisano or Marina malls. Also a few weeks back the Grand Gaisano opened so this would be a good shopping area to visit as I'm sure it has piqued the interest of many women! Happy hunting!
I had an early flight once and noticed hordes of young women on their way to work -- there are many foreign owned factories on Mactan. But how do you meet them Mattrick? I imagine there is an early evening rush hour and many stop to eat somewhere. But where is ground zero?

So generally speaking, is Pump/Juliana better than Cafe Havana ? Are there any other similar clubs in Cebu that are better ?
As with many clubs and bars in Philippines, things can change very rapidly as to how good the club is on any given night. What I do is circulate around a handful of clubs because different clubs get busy at different times. In the Mango Square complex besides Juliana I would also check Autoshop and Pump II. There is also a disco accross the street which I believe is called Club One or something to that effect.
For a more upscale crowd, check out the 'Loft' and 'Club Voodoo' both located in the IT Park. These places are best visited on the weekends. Another disco I would rcommend is 'Halo' located in Paseo near the old defunked Paseo disco.
I only been to the gogo bars in Mango Avenue (Dimples, Papillion, Sisters, Hot Rods, Erik The Red, Vikings, BG's, Club Temptation and Lone Star. I didn't really bother to check out the ones near Fuente Osmena, Downtown and Mandaue. What do you guys recommend? I plan on heading to Cebu again in May of this year.
Yes there are many good clubs besides the ones on Mango Avenue. Don't really know your taste but judging from your screen name, you must be up for anything! Will do a short revue soon when I have more time! Cheers!
Awww.Yeah I am down for anything. Too bad Philippines don't have much if any Soapy massages like in Thailand. As far as clubbing goes, only been to the Loft in IT park and Sunflower disco just walking distance away. I wasn't all too impressed with the The Loft. The Loft is located in the SkyFrom what I remember, I think it was 150 pesos entrance fee. I believe it had 2 levels. The first level had tables to your left and on the right, a little bar and a patio outside to hang out. It's not really a dance area. If you go out the same way you came in, there is another level you walk up to and there is another room with seats on the side and in the middle you can dance. Sunflower is close by. You can just walk it there. It's close by to the Waterfront hotel. Entrance fee I think it was 120 pesos per person. They have live bands in Sunflower. They alternate playing live band music and then back to disco. It's pretty big with long tables. My friend was at Voodoo and then hit Julianas and he said he wasn't impressed with Club Voodoo. Voodoo is in the Crossroads building. It's small in there. Julianas setup may not be all that fancy nice but, it's big and alot of these bar girls from Mango Avenue would go there after then finish work. It is located in Mango Square
I will include at least 2 days in Cebu in my May trip. The girls in Cebu seemed a lot less mercenery than in Makati (but conversation wise Makati was better). The gogo bar girls at Thunderdome and Volvo were more beautiful than the Angeles girls (I never made it to Arena/Jaguar), last time I paid USD60 pre night at the Fuente Crown Regency because it was still partially under construction. I'm sure the price has skyrocketed now. I found the Cebu scene was a little 'acquired'. It wasnt in your face but at the same time I think the effort you put into mingling at the discos would perhaps yield a better quality GFE than in the more commercial cities like Angeles/Manila.

The conditions in the Philippines are typical of a third-World nation and can be found in the Caribbean, India, all of Africa, parts of Central and South America and in many other places in Asia. Nothing special about the poverty or the percentage of the population selling goods or looking for a handout in the streets of the Philippines. Once you experince the street situation in India, everything else seems tame.

The barfine at Silver Dollar is and has always been 750P not 1000P, and then you work out a deal with the girl for ST, LT or VIP room and what you expect in return.
I had a few SML two weeks ago on a wednesday afternoon in Silver Dollar and sat with a couple of the girls I knew and they told me things are slow these days, not alot of customers. I bought them a few LD's as they took turns on stage. I must have killed about 8 cockroaches that walked across the drink mat on the bar in front of me during my two hour stay. I had never seen any in SD before so maybe they were all hiding in the wall they removed to create the new stage. ;)
99% of the gentlemen in these fora, think the same as a cockroach running around inside a bottle. They have a VERY tiny patrol space.
If you are lodged in downtown and/or midtown Cebu, and hangout in the foreigner-oriented clubs, you might well start to believe that poverty is everywhere in Cebu. YOu might believe that New York City is poverty stricken, if you start living amongst the street people of the East Village.
Street vendors are not beggers. They have their steady gig. The fact that they spend their time in rather low-productivity selling is not a consequence of poverty, it is part of their inability to see the forest for the trees.
In fact there is VERY LITTLE extreme poverty in Cebu city; that's why all the province chicks come here.
The number of people in Cebu City who miss 2 meals in a row due to a money problem is miniscule. This is not a welfare state; but the city government hands out money and rice on a regular basis.
Fuente is a shithole of mentally I'll street people. I call it Little Manila. Do not judge Cebu by Fuente.
PEople aren't dropping dead in the streets, as in Haiti or Zimbabwe. Cebu has government hospitals. No, they won't do cosmetic surgery for free, and yes, family members will have to go out and buy supplies used in your care. But the hospitals are there.
Filipinos are severe whiners. Almost every Filipino will describe himself as poverty stricken. That doesn't make it true.
The exceptionally poor appearance & condition of the publicly visible here, are NOT due to money problems. It follows from Malayan inability to organize their way out of a paper bag.
Long ago I learned not to trust the business judgement of the locals. Recently, I've given up on all the tourists as well.
