Agree or disgree we are all in the same boat?
I have a different perspective?
I still remember when I first came in ISG, there was only 1 page of thread at best. Majority of the posters didn't have a handle just posted as Anonymous. What went on then is pretty much what goes on now. Back then the posters it seem majority were Expats or visited often for reason like business. I pretty much learned all the in and out of mongering in Thailand more important I would benefit me was learning the negatives about their culture and people. It didn't mean I didn't make mistake like paying too much I'm still learning and overpaying at times. What I noticed over time a minority of members who seem to know or had the ear of the creator / moderator complaint whenever they couldn't intelligently convince others to March to their music they got their own thread, which was a form of banishment or outright told they were banned. One only has to look to see what I'm talking about.
The final explosion happen a few years ago when a top poster was banished and there was a huge debate many of the best informative members got tired and even took sides and left. Many felt new members would pick their brains and later got disrespectful after they gain experience. The old days many would meet at Livingston Lodge in Bangkok on Soi 33, those were the old days.
As noted, ISG and many website posters come from all walks of life people are all different. One would think and realize the more people in a group you will have more different opinions, thus disagreement. I hear people say I understand, let's move on, but the next word out of their mouth it back to the same old stuff, it is like in one ear out the other, I just guess people are just build that way and they got to get in that jab thinking no one is going to notice.
Make no mistake I understand we are all human and I'm not exempt. People have their own experience take the time to write and share it with us because that is what the Internet has created. Some are so well written and as long as a romance novel. Majority are experiences from poster who come often and not so often doing what they can't at home for various reasons. No one wants in the end to have their experience nip picked and shot down for paying too much or their story being too long. There are guys who like to take it slow then their are guys who just want to run, everyone has their style. It also works the other way around. Not taking a personal shot. People post say "let's get back to busy " write and explains themselves and end by calling others who don't agree with their position " Ass-so ", or write a wonderful experience ending in making sure the " Cheap Charlies " got it. There is always I understand let's get back to the topic only to end with that jab to the gut! Always got to get the last word in because our ego's get the best of us each time.
A good example. Look at my writing I envy guys like Kumbu, I only dream of being able to write like him but my poor grammar isn't going to stop me from expressing my opinion. I get it all the time readers understand as bad as my grammar understand everything that is being said, but because they can't get me to March to their tune have no argument and feel their ego bruised they reach for what is left to nip pick my grammar or spelling. Sure I'm human I would be lying if I said it doesn't bother me at times. This is what the Internet has created cowards, jerks hiding behind the computer. Is anything I've said going to change NO not for a minute.
We are more alike than we care to admit, we all are at fault as to why things are the way it is it will never change. What has changed is ISG no longer micro-manage this board for the few just let it go and like the majority after a few days things will return to normal but before that happens someone will sneak in that jab and then it starts all over again. That is ISG, you can be the solution by just ignoring the jabbers (easier said than done) or be the problem and keep jabbing.
